'Big Brother 8' - Live Feeds Saturday Overnight Into Sunday 9/2

"This is a disaster, a culinary disaster," said Evel Dick as he cooks up some breakfast while I get this posted. You know ... if I had to have one houseguest this season cook me a meal, I'd vote for Dick to do the task. While Zach and Daniele argue about the right way to boil rice, I see Dick look at a bunch of ingredients and go at creating something tasty from what's on hand. Heck, I'd even give him a real knife if he'd cook for me!

Here are Saturday evening's events leading into Sunday morning's "Brunch with Dick" in that Big Brother House of Culinary Catastrophes:
  • Dick obviously doesn't know the meaning of brunch -- it's not even 6:45 there and he calls his breakfast brunch.
  • Eric fussed about shaving without hot water. "I'm bleeding! I'm bleeding!"
  • Daniele is a fan of the Olsen twins. Why am I not surprised?
  • In what started as a talk about movies, Dick went further into the problems in Africa with the diamond trade and Darfur. I was surprised that Zach knew nothing about the issues. Jameka and Dick are both fairly knowledgeable about the events there.
  • Jameka is surprised that Neil Patrick Harris is gay. She's easily surprised, I guess.
  • Daniele told Zach she's really not sure who should go home this week yet.
  • They played quarters, drank beer and wine, made sock puppets, and messed with the body paints in an effort to amuse themselves. BB -- give these folks something to do, anything!
  • Eric advised Jessica to go to Daniele and Dick and make a big production out of wanting to go after Zach. Jessica told him that it's Dick and Daniele she wants to target.
  • Eric told her he wasn't worried, but Jessica surely is!
  • The smitten couple continued in their smitten ways, oblivious to what may happen down the road. Carpe diem!
  • Eric thinks Janelle hates him because he insulted her to her face. Smart move there, Eric!
  • They still have a big ant problem in the kitchen. Jameka and Dick are the most vocally upset by it ... they want a fumigator in there like yesterday!
  • Everyone is asleep as Dick makes his breakfast. At one point he poured too much milk in his eggs, bent to fix them, bumped his head and his microphone fell off. At times like that, he reminds me of Kramer from Seinfeld.
  • As I post this, Dick is still the only one up, shaving, smoking, and sneezing. He's singing his own little song -- "all's well, balls smell." He tells us he HAS to win HOH this week, has to to do it.
  • UPDATE at 11:05 AM ET -- Dick is still the only one awake. He's cursing the thought of keeping Jameka that long. It's looking like it's going to swing to evicting Jessica or backdooring Eric.

G'day Jackie....loved the blog...I think dick is so entertaining, especially when he is not being mean, abusive, crude and rude ...oh wait...then when would I like him? Oh yes, when he is really being himself when the guard is down...when he is cooking, talking to the internet, worrying about Darfur and being a regular person.
But I have to ask you, was he sneezing in his culinary disaster?
I almost thought that he was making smily face pancakes from the pictures...they really need to get Jess out I think...and I like her...at first I thought she was an airhead,Valley girl type who was just mean to Carol....but she is a serious threat

many thanks to dla, sydney and orkmommy for your concern over Mom..she is 88 and a walkin miracle..she had a toe removed yesterday (and no, she doesnt have diabetes) osteomyletis. She has lost several toes because of this. she was awake and chipper yesterday afternoon when I went home...Laughing about her funny doctors(and the cute ones), smiling and praying for other patients, and wanting to go home so she wont miss Big Brother tonight ! The woman is made of steel, in part due to her huge faith.
She will be thrilled she made the 'net blog and the laughter will do her much good.
Thanks for your good vibes,,,
Oh I have a dog too...Cruiser...a large malteese, should have named him Bruiser. He'll take on all the big dogs that walk his path, and he loves to chase cats, but not in a mean way.....My cat I had for 13 years was Solomon, a wise orange stripe..was my best friend thru many a anxious night...still miss him
thanks again for all the warm fuzzies

Happy Sunday Morning!
The internet and coffee are my morning friends. Today I went about You Tube, looking at BB8 stuff. I watched a bunch of D&D talks, and I gotta tell you, I couldn't argue with Dick about anything he said there. His take on himself is endearing even.
Ok, endearing might be too strong a word, but you catch my drift.

Terry - I think Jessica is both, a threat and a mean girl. On one hand, I'd like to see Jameka go home and let the 5 remaining go at it, because maybe Zach would catch on then @@. On the other hand, I say remove Jessica now and go from there.

Terry ~ A "large" Maltese?? hahaha There's no such thing as a large Maltese, is there? That's like a "small Pyranese". I have a monstrous Yorkie (5 lbs) and I should have named her CUJO!! In this crazy BB game, I'm upset all the time because of FOOTBALL!!! I know some areas that offer BB on more than one channel. We get so many good updates on this blog, that by the time I watch the belated rerun of the REAL game, I'm so far behind, I can't remember whether I've seen that one or not!! I absolutely LOVE Janelle, been reading about her for days and still haven't seen the show she's on. I'm nearly 70 and people think I'm nuts because I'm so addicted about this BB show. I don't care what they think - they don't pay my rent!! Good for your Mom, Terry. I'm looking forward to tonight's show (IF WE GET IT HERE).

Fitst, prayers and good thoughts to your Mom,Terry! She sounds like a feisty lady and will be up and running in no time.

I'm wondering what Dani will do with the veto. I hope they let it stand and send Jameka home, cause she's coming off her "no HOH" status and she would be hard to beat in F2. BUT,Jess is a big threat to them all,and the girl CAN win comps. I think I want them to send Jam home and then have Jess win HOH and then sit back and watch the fur fly. Knowing these hamsters, though, they'd probably kick Zach out(that's right it will be the fast one on Thurs...yay)and it will be the LJC group to battle to the end.

Speaking of pets,I have a 13 year old Beagle,Molly(the most spoiled dog on the planet). She's a little short legged breed who thinks she is a human,I swear. Then we have three cats,Sadie,Zoe and Kat(arina). We only meant to have the two(sisters) but someone dropped Kat on our door, and the other two absolutely loathe her! She's a Russian Blue and so pretty and she's my hubby's favorite(traitor).

Woah...I didn't know Neil Patrick Harris was gay!! It doesn't surprise me, but I didn't know. I can't believe he didn't call me! ;-)

Terry - We'll be thinking about you and your mom! Tell her we all said "HI!"

At this point, I really don't care what happens in the house anymore. It's all predetermined anyway @@!

ah yes...I know..but Cruiser is the exception...he is 15 pounds!! A dear, fun, happy, playful, and the reason I got him was his owner said "he will be too big" at the time he was 7 lbs...she gave him to me because she coldnt make money off of him...well HER LOSS, he is devoted and sweet and gives Mom a lot of comfort..I quit my day job 4 years ago to stay home and care for her while husband still works...Its been hard, funny, lonely and confining, but I wouldnt trade it...she's quite a gal...andthru all her many medical trials, she has emerged even better.
thanks to Jackie and everyone who is holding her in their thoughts.....
I say, bring back Janelle and Dr Will!!!
I hope we get some twists going...

At first I wanted Jameka to go home but if D&D want to go further, it would be in their best interest to get Jessica out because she's the biggest competitor next to Daniele. Then in Thursday's HOH, only D&D and Eric can play (Jameka has one more week to go where she can't play I think). What would be tough though is if America votes to evict Jess and there's nothing Eric can do. Since 2 go on Thursday, it would be best for both Jameka and Jess to go.
Since we're talking about pets, I have 3 myself. 2 dogs and a cat. Now I know Sharon said she has the most spoiled dog on earth but I disagree, my "kids" have to be in the top 10!! Brandy is a 4 year old 65 pound akita/lab mix and loves to sleep in daddy's lap. Rylee is a lab/german shepard who believes the world revolves around her. Then there's Smokey (the cat) who will take on both dogs with one paw tied behind her back!

Anonymous said...

I agree with you Orkmommy. It do seem like every thing is predictable.

I hope if they try to involve the American Fans again it will not be like this year. It seems so unfair to the evicted guest because America dictated the votes. Some of the people that have been evicted may still be there if it had not been for the America player's position.

I'm right there with you, joe. I can't stand the waiting toward the end of each season. It's only Sunday for goodness sake.

LOL, orkmommy...you pulled an "Amber" on us and went all religious now, eh? I felt the same way when I heard Lance was gay ;)

terry in ca...let me add my prayer for you and your mother ... you sound like a devoted daughter and it's refreshing to hear.

OK. I have a 75 pound dog named Buddy who also thinks he's a lap dog. 4 cats: Mau, Linc, Minus and Cali. They all hate each other. If Buddy could only get to the cats I'd hate to think what would happen (to him). We keep them separated by doors/floors. Live in a tri-level.

While I think Jessica is the obvious eviction this week for D&D, I really would like to see the two couples duke it out in the final 4. Fair's fair, and the four of them played the best game of those left in the house. Would prefer to see how the F2 would make it all happen.

Anonymous said...

I just saw this on Joker's...it's from Reality TV World...
Although Amber is now off to the show's sequester location, Big Brother viewers shouldn't expect to see much footage of her new jury house adventures. Unlike previous Big Brother seasons, CBS doesn't plans to broadcast regular weekly footage of each evicted houseguest's jury house arrival.

"[The producers only] anticipate [broadcasting] one jury house package before the end of the season," a CBS spokesperson told Reality TV World on Friday.

Here's a link to the whole article. It's really just a recap of Thursday's show.

Good AFternoon, All!
Thanks for the updates, Jackie. This is the most entertaining site on the net. Terry, I'll be praying for you Mom.
With all the talk about pets, I have 2 cats (one that is 13)and I am considering adopting a dog. I volunteer at a GSD rescue, and this little Darlin' is not a GSD, but she has the face of one. She's a small mix breed. My BIG concern, bringing a dog into a house with 2 well established, spoiled cats. Any thoughts??
I know this is a BB forum, but I sure could use any advise I can get.

Thanks, Orkmommy and bummer! I always like to see the jury house (usually pretty luxurious looking) and especially the HG's arrivals. Oh well, at least they're planning one time to show us, if the article's accurate.

Terry in CA, more power to you and to your Mom! You said "Its been hard, funny, lonely and confining, but I wouldnt trade it". What a perfect description of caring for our parents. My Mom had Parkinson's for years and we (my Dad, sister, myself) all cared for her while she battled on. I wish you and your family all the best. It's difficult and sad and rewarding, too.

I have to say that one thing I am really not understanding is why BB8 allows that house to have the ant problem that it obviously has. Do they not have PEST CONTROL in CA? Can't they spare the $100 it might take to get someone in there to spray the place? It's ridiculous. Making those hg's live like that is sickening to me. I would have walked out when the problem first began. Ants all over your plates and food and counters and eating utencils....how lovely.

Also, the game of quarters and beer pong that they play. OMG...the germs....they all touch the quarter then it goes in the beer and then they drink the beer. GROSS!

if jessica was in competitive cheerleading, you can bet she's a highly driven competitive person. she's in this to win this.

jackie:
thanks for sharing more about dick. i think he's probably one of the most interesting people to be on the show. his knowledge of world events really increases my like for him and he needs his own cooking show on food network. "dick in the kitchen" or something like that.

everytime the ant problem is mentioned, i come to the conclusion that BB does that to them on purpose. every year i've watched there has been an ant problem.

riseandshine:
i thought jessica was a mean girl from the moment she saw carol. i've never liked her. i'd rather deal with someone like dick where you know what you get than someone like jessica.

and regarding pets:
i have an 11-year-old tuxedo cat named Whiskers that we rescued in May. some people had a new baby and new carpet and they kicked him out.

i also have a beagle/lab mix named Sunny. i have had her a month and she is a year old, spayed, housebroke, and an excellent watchdog. her family had to find a home for her because the husband was getting stationed somewhere where they couldn't have pets. he is in the navy. his wife cried really hard when we took sunny home...it was obvious they loved her very much. i was glad to do something for a military family.

to Anonymous, bringing a dog into a house with 2 spoiled cats may be difficult but it can be done. When we first were married (many years ago)we had the opposite problem, bringing in an adult cat into a house with a dog. They say a good way to start is keeping them separated for a couple of days (in different rooms) and let them get used to each other's smell. Then hold one animal and let the others sniff him/her.Then lastly.. dogs like to play and when the dog wants to play with the cats, let her. One swipe from the cats and the dog learns real quick to stay away from them.

Boo Hiss on not showing the SH this year. It was always so much fun to see the new arrival and watch them watch the tape they bring. Just one more reason to dislike AG amd Amber for the over the top antics this year and the lack of control on the part of the producer. I hope she goes after this!

jl,we've had several dogs and other cats over the years. When we brought the dog into the house, the cat just ignored her. But when the new cats came in the house, the dog made sure they knew who the boss was...for a while. They now have settled into an easy peace and keep out of each others territory. The two older cats, however, give the little one a run for her money, but she tends to hold her own.I think your dog will do fine. I admire anybody who works with animals and helps them.

Hello Jackie,

On the thought, "Please BB give these people something to do", why can't they be given Scrabble or Monopoly. I think it would be fun to see how competitive they are, when it really is just a game. It would also be fun to make them have to share their games. Maybe only make the game available for no more than 4 players approx 2 hrs a day.
I predict Dani would whine when she lost and gloat when she won.
Jameka would pretend like she didnt even try and say "it's pre-ordained"
Zach would probably say really inappropriate things and no one will want to play with him.
Jessica would probably be the most fun to watch put together words ~smoke would come out of her ears~
Eric would allienate everyone by making them feel stupid.
And of course Dick would be the sorest loser and show the worst of unsportsmanlike conduct.
~Good Times~

Terry in Ca. I am so glad that you mentioned your Mom and that she is a BB fan. She sounds like she is a good role model for all of us when it comes to having a good attitude about life. That is what I miss in many of the BB hgs. She must have done a good job being a Mom to have a daughter who cares for her now when she is ill.

I would like Jameka and Zach to leave the house and have the F4 be the two couples. At this point, I don't think I care who wins, I have worked out the sad/mad/its not done my way feelings and am just along for the ride. The only way it can have anything unexpected happen in the last weeks in the house, is if those four have to turn on each other. Or maybe do something extraordinarily kind for each other, while we watch.

No pets this year in the house, I just realized. I was kind of slow in noticing that, wasn't I? My most memorable BB moment is still Season One when they opened the back door and saw all the pugs int he back yard.

I think Dick would hold to the alliance with Jess and Eric as he agreed, but Dani seems to run him...and she wants Jessica out...alliance be damned. So daddy Dick will give his little girl what she wants for fear of alienating her. Looks like Eric won't be able to save Jessica...and I wonder if he really even wants to. He has been a loyal suck up to Dick all along, America's player or not. With Jess gone Dick and Dani can just pick everyone off one by one since they will be the only alliance left in the house. What a bunch of dumb players this year not to have broken up those two early on. Interesting that both Dick and Eric would stick to the alliance and Dani and Jess want to bail.

PlaidChick said...

Ahhh the tides are turning! About damn time. But I could them flip right back and go ahead as originally planned. This next PoV and HoH on Thursday because of the live DE will be question based because of time. Then the next HoH after that should be some type of physical/endurance since that will be HoH of the final 4. D&D need to break up Jessica Eric and Jameka somehow. I see Jessica as the biggest threat out of those three because she could hold out in endurance. Zach is smart but it's a little too late for him stepping up and playing the game 2 months later.

While I think Daniele has tried to figure out how to get her Dad out without it dirtying up her hands, she needs him more in the game than him out. She thinks she will win if she is sitting next to him in the Final 2. They all do. I think they're all wrong. She has flipped back and forth about hating her dad, whining, and crying, then sits and talks to him about the game and how she hates everyone there, which has made all the HG's question the nature of their relationship. The more I watch them, the more I see whatever happened between them was her walking away from him. And if she wins 500,000 or 50,000 she'll walk right out the door and away from him again.

I am bummed about BB not showing the sequester house. What's up with that??!

Oh, Terry, give your brave Mom hugs from us!! Bless her heart! I sometimes, in my most reflective and irrational moments, don't understand why our bodies simply fall apart and break down as we age. It could be such a graceful process if that were not the case!

What is Mom's name? Or her blog handle?? ;)

Cruiser sounds precious, and it does my heart good to know that Solomon is in kitty Heaven running like the wind with my AJ & Jazz! I just lost them in March / April, and still cannot drive by their vet's office without crying.

Silly but true, and really inconvenient as the office is about 2.5 miles from my house...

Wow! Gone for 1 day and another woman has moved in on my blogmance!! lol! Joe in NY...153

So much to catch up on, where to start?

For Seniors BB, how about a luxury comp...instead of racks of clothes, a roomful of depends...as many as you can wear, carry, etc..in 5 mins (need a little extra time) are yours to keep!!

I think many are not giving Zach the credit he deserves. IMO, of course, I don't think he is naive at all, he doesn't believe that D,D or E,J would take him to final 2. What I see, is that he needs to get to 3....with E,J or D,D it matters not(he may prefer D,D-trusts them more than E,J). At this point he will HAVE to win the final HOH to choose whom HE will take to the final 2. I think in Zach's mind, he would prefer to be final 2 with Dick, then Eric...his best shot at winning the jury votes.

I love reading everyones take on this...you ALL rock!

My goodness!!! So many opinions, thoughts, and chatter!! I love it!! So now I'll add my 2 cents....

terry in ca.--sorry to hear about your Mom, though, she sounds like a fiesty one with a positive attitude about life. I hope I'm like that at 88. You seem to be a great daughter--I've been there with my Mom-in-law and Dad-in-law(my own parents are still pretty healthy). It's hard and not fun to watch them suffer(both have passed away). You're in my thoughts and SHOUT OUT TO YOUR MOM--get well- the Seniors edition is coming up and there's no age restriction!!!

Denise in TX--first time commenting?? If so, welcome to this crazy group.

anon 12:49--you must not have kids or grandkids--they are walking petrie dishes(germs everywhere) but you just can't resist the messy kisses!!
But I would not be happy with ants on my countertops!

ormommy--I'm having a hard time keeping excited about the show also. I think with the input of AP and the the DR "encouragement"
the gameplay of many HG has been compromised thus affecting the outcome.

Zach likes to point out that he is playing the game strategically and not personally, yet he justifies Jess nom. by saying "She put me up". Sounds personal to me.....

Dani is a Scartlett O'hara-
woe is me--doesn't like what is said(if it doesn't agree with her thinking) so she walks away and whines about "hating these people and this game"...
everyone is mean to her...
it's hard because of her dad(she SHOULD be thanking him. She wouldn't still be in the game if it wasn't for him)....etc. etc.

Dani's play to Zach reminds me of the cheerleader in HS that pretends to like the geek in school, agrees to go to the dance with him, and then dumps him with everyone watching and laughing....Zach is going to be out the door next week because he did what Dani/Dick wanted.

And sadly Jess is going to be out this week because she did what Eric wanted(which was because of the AP). I think he would have wanted to backdoor Dani if it wasn't for AP.

No SH--I believing that Jen is not there!! They will show clips but perhaps not the same location!? CBS AND ALLISON
GRODNER REALLY BLEW IT THIS YEAR!!!

As for pets--I have 2 dogs-
black lab(12)named Maddie and yellow lab(2) named Josie--I was done with pets until I helped birth Josie(my daughter owns her mommy)--she was 1 of 10 and after helping take care of her for 6 weeks I couldn't resist. She lots of mischief!!!!But is like my shadow!! The older dog gives me the look of "What have you done--I was happy just laying around without her!!"

Cats/dogs-- my experience has been it's easier to bring a dog into a house of cats then another cat!!

Time to put away the swimming pool and watertoys
.....falls coming and school is starting!!!

Love hearing about all the pets! I have four cats who add immense joy to my life, as well as a lot of cat hair.

Maybe next year BB should consider having houseguests bring their pets. It would make the boring times more fun to watch and might really improve the personalities of some of the houseguests. And then, maybe Joe in New York would apply.

Sue--I agree that it was a great moment when the houseguests found all the pugs in the backyard of the BB1 house--there was even one dog with only three legs, which immediately won Eddie McGee's attention.

Hey guys,

Terry, glad to hear your mom's doing okay. My mom also has health problems and I know how difficult it is to keep them healthy and happy.

I have four cats: Big Daddy, Stupid, Tip, and Rover. None of which are actually mine. They just kind of showed up at the house and stayed. I don't know why. I guess our Cat Chow is better than everyone else's in the neighborhood. Sadly, I don't have a dog: leash laws and living near an elementary school wouldn't be good for what I want a German Shephard.

I too think it would be the best thing for D and D to get Jess out. I'm still rooting for Z. I can't help it after the way the others have treated him. I always root for the underdog. I think he would have loved to be in an alliance but nobody wanted to be in one with him except Kail and then she sold him and the others out the first time things got rough. I'm not a D and D fan either although I would prefer a Dick win over a Dani win. I think one of the reasons I chose Z to root for is because I can't stand the other HG's but then what did I have to choose from...LOL.

Can't wait for tonight's show but unfortunately, I have to go to work so I won't be able to watch it as it happens.

Terry in Ca...glad your mother is doing well and seems to be in good spirits after her surgury.

Joe in NY..Little Willie and Oliver are so cute...just like their daddy ;) Yes, I'm shamelessly trying to flirt my way back into my blogmance! lol!

I think that Jameka giving up 5 HOH's has taken her further than she would have gone...but can she last long enough to compete again? I don't think so.

I don't have a particular favorite to win the game, but I'd like to see the LJC final 4 with D,D as the final 2 and Dick winning it. Without showing his soft side for Dani and the sacrifices that he made in the game for her....his strategy would have done him in long ago. With that said, I think there's a chance that Zach can play both sides to make it to the final 3...These final weeks are my favorite, as things change so quickly.

I can't wait till Thursday...hopefully no football this week!

Milk in his eggs?! Never! If you're doing an omelette, add about half an eggshell of water for each egg you use, and fry in real butter with just a touch of olive oil - the oil keeps the butter from burning. I honestly can't think of any reason to put milk into eggs.

My dog Chelsea is a 10 year old mixed breed of uncertain parentage. Actually she's my kid brother's dog but when he moved out to BC he took her with him. Unfortunately she didn't take well to the move - or rather his future in-laws with whom he and his girlfriend are currently living - didn't take well to her and it was either bring her back to Saskatoon to live with me or put her to sleep, which is how I got my second "hand-me-down" dog from my brother. I don't see how anyone could have a problem with her quite honestly.

Terri in Ohio...

...now, I never exactly left our blogmance. It just never seemed to get going since you abandoned the board for a whole day and a half! SHAME ON YOU from all of us!

I must admit, I feel like Danielle. Torn between my loyal. trustworthy blogmance back in Ohio and the exciting dangerous Steff who shook her bodacious body at me when you weren't looking!!! Now, how did Dani solve the problem...hmmmm....oh, who am I kidding, I'm smarter than Dani!!!! This shouldn't be that hard - dance with the one who brung ya, girlfriend!!!

As for dogs and cats, I know a dog trainer who says "the dog and cat can have a relationship, but the cat will determine what that is."

I think that's very true. Typically, the cat can escape easily if it needs to (although you must be careful with high prey drive breeds like Huskies...) Gradual acclimation works best, but you usually don't have a problem IF the cat was there first, and the dog has not had past cat experience. The dog will accept the cat as part of the new surroundings (with caveats above: minimal prey drive, no past cat hunting experience) and it will be up to the cat as to whether it wishes to socialize.

It helps if you establish an alpha position in the house. Dogs do not typically fight within a pack (counterproductive to survival) as long as there is a clear pack leader WHICH MUST BE THE HUMAN. If the dog respects you (not loves, RESPECTS) as the pack leader, it will not challenge the cat, it will simply embrace it as part of the new pack.

It is actually much easier to manipulate a dog rather than a cat. Dogs have social structure in their pack. As long as you assume the leadership of the pack, the dog will obey your rules. Cats, on the other hand, are like tigers: solitary and territorial. Since they have no social structure, they see no need to accept yours!!!

Check out Cesar Milan (the Dog Whisperer) for some pretty good tips on dog handling. They do work, if you can train yourself to be the pack leader. Unfortunately, we all prefer to pamper our pets rather than lead them...

Warm hugs to Terri in Ohio. Welcome back, baby!

I agree with the butter for eggs. Only way to fry them.

BUT...while I don't usually use milk (unless Terri requests it for breakfast :) putting cream into eggs is a well-established way to make a fluffy, creamy omelette.

Of course, if he's using skim or 2% milk, he's wasting his time. And go straight to heavy cream or stay home.

What would you like for breakfast, Terri?

Terry in CA-- hugs to YOU and your Mom. I love my Mom dearly, and I love my MIL dearly, my Step father in law, I could do without.

My husband and I came up with a Nick and Daniele code between the two of us-- 1 4 4, I DONT CARE!

As for fur babies, well I have 2 errr 1. When I got married last December, my Mom wouldn't let me take the 17 pound full bred Maine Coon-- Clooney, named after Oscar winning actor George. He is 5. And a huge spoiled baby, and wouldn't hurt a fly-- ok maybe a fly. My other baby who lives with me full time, is Emma. She's a 10 year old grey kitty mutt, who lost one of hind legs 6 years ago. Some SOB shot her with a .22 (we don't live in the sticks!) shattering her hip and having to amputate the leg. We call her tripod, but she runs, plays and hisses at Clooney like she still has all four legs.

Nana in the NW-- Daniele may be a Scarlett, but she has ZERO southern charm!

Let me join in on wishing you well with your Mom. I lost my Mom a few years ago and still miss her terribly. I'm a huge dog lover and have 2 Cockers so I loved reading about your "Cruiser".
We CA girls have to stick together. ;)

I also think the smartest move would be to get Jessica out, but not sure they can do it. I didn't like her at first for the same reasons mentioned here, but she's proved to be not just another "blonde valley girl", at least in her being able to stay in the house as long as she has. But her voice is even more grating than Holly's,imo.

I hope Zack wakes up and stops being so naive and trusting of both power alliances in the house.

I'm sure the house guests are getting a lot of pool time or are staying inside where's it's cool.
I saw in the news that it was 112 in Studio City (where the BB house is located)today. I live close to Malibu but it was still 103 here this afternoon, which is record breaking for So Cal.

Have a good Sunday!

Teri in Ohio... when Joe in NY described his shower as "Naked and steamy and wet" Steff was just faster than the rest of us to lay claim... you must never leave the blog ... not if you want to hang onto your blogmance.

nana in the nw... it was getting a little warm wasn't it. LOL

dla... I remember... you and I both lost animals at the same time. My Moses and Jetta, a hound and a Chow. I still have Buddy (shepherd mix) , but even he misses the two of them.

Joy n...Sorry about your Spunky, I lost my beloved cat Kasey last year also. He was 11 and diabetic, I gave him insulin shots twice a day. He was my first cat, I got him as a kitten. I didn't want another pet right away either, but I've recently been adopted by another little kitten. Kady (not sure what it is about those K names-lol) definitely has her own personality. She's wild and playful and very cute. You'll know when you're ready.

Joe in NY...I was the hostess of a surprise birthday party yesterday. Martha Stewart, I'm not, so yesterday was spent furiously cleaning and preparing. Putting the vacuum away as the door bell is ringing! Then to top it off, I had to work last night.

A man who cooks, Joe, you're a dream come true! I'm not picky about my eggs (just no runny white part, please). However, working 3rd shift means breakfast is usually at 2:00 or 3pm!

A tiny story here about Mom...when I was growing up my Mom would always wake me in the morning with a sweet song, and reach under the covers and put my socks on my feet, so they didnt get cold when I got out of bed.....this is the memory that plays over and over in my head when I am showering her, dressing her and yes, putting socks on her feet and warm slippers.....
We think she might come home Tuesday, but shocker that she is she could be home tomorrow!

I am loving all the pet stories and names ,,,this is really a neat group of people......thanks os much for letting me mix in with 'yall......

p.s! Yes we had an earthquake...I was in a store and some gal started screaming she didnt want to die, meanwhile (born and raised here) I just kep flipping the hangers on the rack....

Terry, all the best to you and your mom. My first husband had lung cancer and I cared for him at home right to the end. It was exactly as you described it - lonely, funny, frustrating, rewarding, and heart breaking at times but something I would not have traded for the world.

As for pets, I currently have one -my new husband and soul mate. He is the best for cuddling and spoiling as he returns the favour everyday.

BTW Joe and Teri, I met my soul mate on-line so blogmances do work in the real world.

Terry, you just gave me the best belly laugh of my day with the earthquake story!!

When I lived in OR, I experenced a few, and nothing too major. The first one happened during the night, in the wee hours of the morning, and I sat straight up in bed, and it was a bit freaky. The second one happened when I had injured myself at work, and was on MAJOR pain killers, and I told my family there had been an earthquake overnight, and no one believed me until we turned on the morning news... They were certain it was the drugs. The third one happened at about 5am, and I just rolled over and went back to sleep. My alarm was not to go off until 7am, and I needed all the beauty sleep I could get!! lol

Debie in CA, hugs to you and your husband. I went from laughter to tears when I got to your comment. If nothing else, we are your support group through the internet.
XOXOXO

Sorry to hear about your husband.

I will email you later tonight. I was 41 when I became a widow so I'm sure we will have plenty of things to discuss.

For now just remember your husband needs someone in his corner to advocate for him when the health system is not doing everything that it should. Don't be afraid to speak up and demand the care your husband deserves. I know this is all new for you but there are some great folks out there that will help you get through this together.

You can count on me to be here for you. Take care and give your husband a hug and tell him how much you love him.

I'll be in touch soon.

Debi: I am so sorry to hear of your husband's illness. Please know my prayers are with you. I lost a son to Muscular Dystrophy in 1979, I took care of him as a single mom for many years. It's difficult but reaching out just to chat will help immensely. Sounds like you already have many here who will bw glad to listen. Like Lucy said, give him a hug every chance you get.

Lucy, you're an angel!
