Big Brother 17: Live Feeds into Tuesday - September 22

Shut it down, Steve!

Here's the latest from inside that Big Brother House of Biding Time:
  • For the most part, all has been amiable with little game talk.
  • They've played cards together, cooked, eaten, had lots of small talk.
  • BUT ... when there is actual game talk (about this season and the inevitable end of it), somehow it's always Vanessa.
  • Vanessa talking to Steve.
  • Vanessa talking to Liz.
  • But never at the same time.
  • Vanessa had an extended talk with Liz, pointing out how Steve has betrayed her and, while she likes him as a friend, he's not worthy of the win.
  • She's had similar talks with Steve about Liz, pointing out all the reasons Liz shouldn't win.
  • She has promised them both the final two and told them not to tell the other.
  • She's promised them both the final two and told them if they hear anything different, it's because she had to say it.
  • Her reasons? (That is, as far as I can tell.) -- She obviously wants Steve to take her to the final two if he wins Part Three. Plus, if it's not HER choice ... she probably thinks she will have Liz, Julia and Austin in her corner in the jury.
  • And, if she (Vanessa) wins Part Three, she can have her choice and I think she thinks that she has a better chance against Liz in the final two. She will then point out all the flaws in Steve's game and betrayals to the jury.
  • However, the problem with Vanessa is that she is hard to read. She doesn't talk to US. Over the season, I've kind of figured out what she'll do. But it's still tough. I can never say for sure what's going on in her mind.
  • On the other hand, Steve does talk to US (or, to himself) a lot. We know that he's planning on dumping Vanessa if he wins Part Three. So far, he's been covering it well with both Vanessa and Liz. He's made no promises to Liz and Vanessa thinks he'll never choose Liz over her.
  • And on it goes ...

Play your cards right, Liz

Yes, Liz. There's a camera there.

If she wins Part Three, she should win

If he wins Part Three, he needs to carry through on his plans

That has been the problem with Steve all season, he talks to himself/us when alone and seems to know what is going on and what should be done but when it comes down to following through on what needs to be done, he crumbles into a pile of jello and does what his master Vanessa says to do. Then when he finds himself alone again he kicks himself for doing it.

If Steve wins part three, he had better glue himself to Liz to keep Vanessa away from him or he will fold like a cheap suit and bow down to his masters wishes and take Vanessa. I hope I am wrong and he could finally grow a pair but he will have to evict her standing in front of her and I don't know if he could do it.

This new way of playing Big Brother was on a website...Jackie, what do you think of it?

http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/2015/09/big-brother-game-reverse-it/

David, I agree. Steve is smart and figures things out correctly. He just has no guts when it comes to Vanessa. It's almost like the 'obey mommy' complex washes over him and he can't do what's best for his game. He's been all show and no go!

Mindy, although I think it's an interesting concept, I'm not seeing much benefit to becoming HOH, other than being the sole vote to evict. However, there's no secrecy involved, so when the HOH is no longer reigning, that vote to evict 'can' rapidly tank their future value.... even though the rest of the hamsters were the ones who voted for those OTB.

Someone here offered up another idea that I think IS a good plan:
If one of the nominees wins POV, the POV winner gets to choose his/her replacement!
That could shake some tail feathers!!

Once upon a time there was a pro poker player named William Gustafik who was stabbed to death by his wife, Jill Roakcastle. Jill then attempted suicide after writing a 10-page suicide note detailing why. Quoting from her note (which is not copyrighted, and available several places on the net):
“When Bill and I met, we discovered that we both had the ability to get pretty much anything we wanted out of people. I did what I did out of my need to survive. Bill did what he did out of the need to conquer. To be superior to the people around him. To look like the most successful person in the room. He lived his life feeding his narcissism."
“He did all kinds of performance and look enhancing drugs. He was very physically aware and fit. ... He was earning a large amount of money but I was constantly listening to conversations on the phone about lies and schemes against people and agencies to maximize what he was paid.
"Both of us lied, manipulated, cheated, conned and hustled people to make the most money for us…"

Sound like anyone we know?

Petals said...

Yes, Silk. Thanks for posting this.
With all the "success", they both sound miserable.
It's difficult to treat the people in your life with such disdain
and still get a decent night's sleep. For a Christian, I mean -
someone who really endeavors to be a good Christian, to have a clear
heart. But then to spend 80% of your day deceiving, manipulating,
calculating, undermining, sneaking - it takes it's toll.

This does a lot to explain why Vanimal is such a miserable person. Her
skin, her erratic behavior, her subconscious "hiding" (behind the beanie)
of herself - all of that is reflective on her soul, imo.
She doesn't seem to have a decent bone in her body, seriously.

OH - did anyone else catch that she promised "a very merry Christmas" to anyone
that votes for her?

This is a GAME Silk. Give me a break. Talks of suicide, etc has no place here. I surely do not think Vanessa is in that catagory. You are taking this game WAY to serious hon.

Vanessa has started to give Steve hints as to his impending death.
He's not "getting" that she's talking about his death in BB. @@

Silk,Nice story except for the fact that you're relying on the word of a convicted murderer, his wife. The wife also claimed she was a battered woman. There was no evidence presented in court that backed up her accusation. She's now serving a life sentence in prison.

Vanessa quit playing poker and a major reason was the sleazy aspect of it that she wanted no part of.

Monty,Great piece from the previous thread about the recruits and BB fans house guests that ended up being worthless. Spot on!

Petas,As a result of your continuous attacks on Vanessa I am removing you from the charter invite list to the "Hail to Vanessa,Goddess of Big Brother" club.

Here is the actual story behind the anecdote that Silk posted.

Silk, thank you for posting your comment. It took a long time for me to even watch Big Brother. Only the company on this blog made me come, post and enjoy. I still find it hard to accept what a lot of past guests have done -- all for money. Petals, I think that you hit the nail on the head. I think she indeed a miserable, unhappy, negative person, a pathological liar and a psychopath with no conscious to anyone beyond herself. I honestly think that she believes a lot of the lies she tells. "SHE never said that and SHE never did that".

I do not want to see her rewarded for this. I think it would be just for Steve to win and take Liz to the finals. Even if Liz wins, Vanessa will be denied the money.

She didn't play the best game. She just manipulated a group of recruited people who knew nothing about the game.

Never has any player left such a bad taste in my mouth. I am a Christian, yes, but I know a lot of people who are not and who would find a person like Vanessa an insult.

Petals said...

off topic - You know how all season, the HGs speculated about who would win the America Fave? A few, like the Austwins & Clelli, truly believe they are in the running. Many, like James and JohnnyMac, never mentioned it.
How GREAT is it going to be when James (or possibly JMac) is announced as the winner? Can you imagine is face? The surprise?! I am sooooo looking forward to that moment; like last season - Donny's face lit-up while Caleb and Frankie's color went a bit pale. LOL

Other anticipated fun moments: Seeing Clay & Aunt Shelli together again, Davonne & Jason with Meg, Audrey's reaction to Vanimal, and the long-lost HG Jace's reunion with Aushole. What FUN!

One more day until the biggest party of the BB season! We can have apps & entrees during Survivor, then salad & dessert during Big Brother Finale'. The champagne will be flowing, we'll also have kegs of Stella and Bud Light. I'll bring my jumbo shrimp cocktail...

Uncartie - really? Darn it! And I'd already picked-out what I'd be wearing: draggin-ass, black jeans, over-sized hoodie from Aeropostale and, of course, a sequined, crocheted beanie. *wink- wink*

~~Silk said...

Anon 4:49 - I don't take this seriously at all, to the point that I don't even remember past player's names. I really don't much care, and I don't watch the feeds. I just happened to come across the Rockcastle case while researching another topic (uses of the Alford plea - Jill plead guilty to second degree murder, she got life, but would be eligible for parole in 10 years), and reading Jill's description of Bill and his machinations, I thought, "Wow. He sounds a lot like Vanessa." The mention of suicide was only because that's where the note came from that I quoted from; no connection to Vanessa was meant or implied.

Anonymous said...

I believe if Vanessa doesn't win this game she is going to flip the F- out. She is insane really, others on here seems to think she doesn't need the money, so is she this sick about winning.

Petals said...

Anon-

Silk did NOT talk about suicide. You must have misunderstood or misread her post. She posted a quote from a letter of another career gambler to make an analogy about Vanimal.

Petals said...

Anon 5:18 - I sooo agree!

Becky - there is a new thing on FB called "Peanuts Me". You can create your own

Vanessa displays the type of competitiveness that finds it incomprehensible that she might not win it all. In my view, she is behaving like it's a given fact, and I doubt it's "the power of positive thinking" -- more like annoying over-confidence and supreme ego.

IF she does win #3, no matter who she chooses, if the major part of this jury is really bitter, there IS still a chance she'll lose. Who knows if Austin, Julia or Shelli will have had enough time or influence to turn the tide one way or another.

Petals said...

Sharon - good points. Yes, Vanimal is behaving as though her victory is a foregone conclusion (yet another despicable personality trait).
She has spent the past few days pounding her speech in to Steve's & Liz's heads - repeating over & over how deserving she is, etc. She's hoping, of course, that the evictee passes along her resume' to the rest of the jury.
Bitter? Yeah, this jury has the potential to be more bitter than any others in the past, mostly because, well, you know why. LOL

~~Silk said...

Will the evictee have any opportunity to talk with the jury?

Anonymous said...

Is there any Vanessa fans out there at all?????

David said...

I think Vanessa is wasting her breath on the two left in there. They will not have more than a few minutes with the other jury members to influence anything. I think she is trying out her speech, or parts of it, that she will give to the other jury members on them and looking for their reaction to it. She does think it is a forgone conclusion that she will indeed be in the final 2.

Just like last year, I did not want Cody to take Derrick as he won the final HoH but threw away $450,000 in taking Derrick. If Steve wins part three, as much as I don't think he deserves the win, and he takes Vanessa, he will look like the fool he is. Vanessa telling him all the reasons she should win should be a red flag and tells him all the reasons he should NOT take her.

I do so look forward to seeing Liz's, Austins, and Shelli's reaction the the AFP winner. =) I would also love to see their reaction to what America really thinks of them. I wonder if production debriefs them before sending them out for the backyard interviews so they are not blindsided by the news. I can see Liz running away crying again and not wanting anything to do with Austin. Why would that make me smile so much? =)

I agree with Petals. We all gang up here for Survivor and Amazing Race with virtual food, booze and what ever. We "drink" to just about anything. One time, when Secret Agent Man was on we drank so much some had to sleep on Jackie's floor because she took our car keys when we came through the door.

So tune in tomorrow and catch the first episode of Survivor (7 CST) before Big Brother comes on at 8 CST.

monty924 said...

I don't believe so, Silk. The person evicted at F3 walks out and is interviewed by Julie then goes backstage until they join the jury on stage. They don't get to talk much other than a whisper or a little more. Danielle was convinced she could poison the jury against Ian, LOL. I still LMAO at that one three years later. :)))

monty924 said...

Also, just to echo other's comments.... Anon 5:46 don't leave the blog. Join us for Survivor this season. Survivor is always a blast at the pool and a lot less division among our preferences and thoughts on the season. BB is it's on animal every year, but Survivor is really fun too. :))

Love that... virtual food and booze. lol
It's the perfect diet... and it must work cause I know I look smaller from a distance! LOL

Becky - you're right!! OMG, I remember having to sleep over, LOL! Secret Agent Man, wow! Too bad he isn't coming back for Second Chances.

monty924 said...

The virtual booze parties and drinking word during Survivor is the best part, LOL. I wonder who will be our Secret Agent man this year? :)))

Becky said...

To those who were not there -- Secret Agent Man was a former FBI special agent (or so he said). The thinks that came out of his mouth made you shake your head. And we shook our head a lot because the man never shut up. One night we decided that everytime he opened his mouth to talk we would have a drink. I hope Jackie got the creases out of her lamp shades after we left. And it is surprising that Vincent didn't have to go to Virtual Cat Nip Rehab after that night.

Okay,
Petals, SharonN, Becky, Monty924, I do watch Survivor, so I guess maybe I'll follow you guys there, however I've never been on Jackie's blog for it, my daughter introduced me to BB, then she left me lol, but she left me with good company, I live in West Bloomfield MI and she now lives on the east coast. and a newlywed, she never blogs but she told me too ,but not to comment to much or insult anyone, she's probably not watching BB this year or she would have to break on own rule lol.

Thanks to Ms Jackie, our gang is the most witty, insightful, humorous and most loving on the Blogosphere! Most important, though - and if I may speak for most of us - is that we have a true fondness for one another. I think that makes all the difference.

Anon - you for sure don't need an invitation to stick around, but it looks like you have received several anyway! Your daughter left you in good hands; my mom used to blog here with me until she passed a few years ago: this group was very helpful in my healing. We're good to one another, period. Sure, we have differences if opinions regarding the contestants in the shows, but we usually are respectful of each other.

Please tell me your name, or even just a nickname that we can use to address you :)

monty924 said...

I agree about our pool place. There were years, in the early days, where people got out of hand, but Jackie was always quick to shut that down. We all generally like and respect each other here. It's okay to be who you are and not post anonymously. I did the first season (S6) that I commented on Jackie's site but always signed my comments "mm". I've been Monty since S7, I think, LOL. The regulars here will never flame you for your comments and thoughts. We all have them and put them out there.

Instead of choosing 'Anonymous' (below).... click on the Name/URL each time.
A space-bar will appear for you to type in any name you feel comfortable using.

Some of us use our first name, but some people prefer to use something that's not a real identity. Either is fine. :)
