Big Brother 17: Live Feeds into Wednesday - September 23

They're going all poignant on us

Once again, not much in the way of news. So, I'll give you screen caps instead.
  • A scrolling banner tells us the live feeds will stop at 9:45am PT. They'll probably barely be up by then!
  • The banner also promises backyard interviews after the live show airs on the East Coast -- 8pm PT or 11pm here. As I work tomorrow morning, I'll probably have to play catch up with them. Since those interviews are on the live feeds only (initially), in the days to come I'll be posting links and such for interviews everyone can watch.
  • After all, we all want to see Austin again.
  • Right?
  • Heh.
  • As for action yesterday and overnight in the house ... um ... um ... they played cards, cooked, packed, cleaned some, Steve shaved his beard and the girls touched up their dark roots.
  • No kerfuffles. No fisticuffs. No brouhahas.
  • And, no new game talk.

Late night slumber party

Three people yet a messy kitchen

Good thing Liz is there. She cooks.

And, she cleans

Coco is reluctant to give up the dream

Steve shaved

Vanessa touched up her roots

I have to say i have been pretty silent since last Thursday. It gets so boring the last week.
I haven't really watched any feeds, no BBAD on POP.
I am excited that my Pool pick may actually win. This has never happened.

on to houseguest info.....
I still can't really tell who Vanessa would take to the final two if she wins part three.
To me its a lock to win against Steve, Not really so sure about Liz.
There would be two definite votes against her.

If Steve wins he has stated that he will not take Vanessa.... He isn't a lock to win against Liz either.

I did hear Liz state that she has ridden Vanessa and Austins coat tails in this game.

Ready for tonight to be over and then will wait my 330 days or so for next season. Can only hope that next season has better hamsters and new comps

I totally agree with you, Chacha!

Grandi, thanks for the link to Dr Will.
I'm glad he was interviewing the jury again, and we are able to get his BB & Jury insights.
Although it couldn't have been easy for him... talking to those fools!! lol

Well I just got through reading an article of Dr. Will and saw a podcast of Dan Gleesling this morning. Both of them said Vanessa should win hands down judging game play. However Dr. Will said he talk to the jury and they were a very bitter bunch so he thought Steve would probable win even though his game was no where as good as Vanessa. It did say the only way Vanessa could win was taking Liz and then it would be probable a win for her.

Loved Will's assessment of the crazy HGs this year.
His take on Aushole:
"Here’s the thing. When you say “cutthroat” or “vicious” that, in my mind, implies you’re logical. I think Vanessa evicted him, and he’s obviously super hurt by that. So he’s hellbent on turning the jury against her. The problem is, the jury doesn’t really like him, so that could easily backfire. If someone you don’t like gives you advice, why would you follow it? He somehow thinks that he’s this phenomenal public speaker and he’s this motivator, and he’s convinced himself that he’s going to convince the jury to vote which way he wants. But the jury was kind of rolling eyes at him when he was explaining what they should do."

How funny is that?!

Just read Dr. Will Kirby's article and it was to funny. He really nailed Austin to a tee. Said Austin thought he was so well spoken, a good motivator, thought he was so smart trying to turn the jury against Vanessa. Dr Kirby just laughed as he did not go along with that at all. In fact he thought the jury was bitter and that is how they will vote. So sad. Just a weak bunch that would put that above the purpose of the game and pick the best player. Like Vanessa or not She does deserve the title. I know I know she is not my favorite but I am not being "bitter" and calling a spade a spade. Some trying to find excuses why this is not true but if Dr. Kirby could see that must be something to it.

Looking forward,as I'm sure all of you are too,to Vanessa's coronation as Queen of BB :)

Best line from the Dr. Will interview:

"It’s a very difficult job to find 16 different people who are available, who are interesting, who are STD-free and who have big personalities to appear on the show."

Chauncey said...

I think most people that don't want Vanessa to win is because of the way she went about it. Derrick pretty much did the same thing she did but he made us not hate him in the process because he was nice about his deceitfulness, LOL. Vanessa at times just seem down right mean and hateful. She kinda reminds me of Dani from season 2. She was obviously the best player but they hated the way she did them and so they didn't give her the win.

Come on Steve win part 3 and send Vanessa packing.

Chacha said...

Vanessa should win but there is that part of me that wants Steve to win and see Vanessa get to steppin

Thank you, Grandi for the article link. Great read before tonight's finale. I can't believe it will be over with tonight. :((

It was interesting seeing that Dr. Will thinks that Steve will win. I wouldn't be upset with a Steve or Vanessa win even though I have Liz in the pool.

Petals said...

Chauncey, yes. Derrick played masterfully. His game (and his personality) were so great because he didn't need threats, bribes, tears or hysterical fits.
I hope you'll be joining us later, Chauncey, for the big show.

I think if Vanessa makes it to the final 2, I really hope she doesn't, all Steve or Liz would have to say is she has bragged about driving around in a Lamborghini and has made millions playing poker. I don't think she ever mentioned how much she made to them, but they should have got the hint from the car. But of course I don't think Steve or Liz is savvy enough to put 2 and 2 together, but that could turn the jury against Vanessa very quickly saying she is already rich.

Vanessa deserves the win but as others have said, I just don't like her. The problem is I really don't like Steve or Liz either. I guess I will just have to root for Steve to win as the lessor of the 3 evils. His horns aren't quite as big and pointy sticking out of the top of his head.

Oh my gosh, Dr. Will is hilarious. Best interview I could have read right now. Slightly less than a janitor that just got fired for meth addiction.

Petals said...

David, so she did end up telling them about her real life? She's been busting to tell someone all season. *smh* She got SUCH a rapper mentality.

David said...

Petals, she mentioned the Lamborghini to I think one of the twins a while back while talking about Mel. It was just something in passing but that is something I would have picked up on myself. I think it went right over their heads and didn't register. She moved on to something else fast realizing her mistake. She has mentioned the gambling a number of times but no one ever pushed her on it or for any details. That is their mistake.

Witt said...

Will's interview was hysterical. Hope Steve wins (sorry, uncartie) but won't be surprised if Vanessa takes it all.

monty924 said...

Yeah, Vanessa hasn't hid her poker background to any of them really, but she let out more as the HGs started dwindling down. And David, you are right. Most of it went over their heads and they aren't even thinking she's worth what she is, nor do they seem to care so it is their mistake for sure. Having said that, lol, I don't think someone's income or worth should mean squat in there as far as how people should vote. We've just never had a millionaire play BB before.

I'm thinking about taking a nap, but my luck I'd oversleep and miss Survivor and then won't be able to sleep tonight. I still might do it anyways. See everyone later for the finale and, if I'm awake, the Survivor premiere. :)))

I never understood the thinking that someone shouldn't win because they don't "need" the money, or some one should win because they Do "need" they money because they have a child, or student loans, etc. It's a game!! Winner should be based on gameplay. Dr Will is a doctor and I'm sure he made more money than the other houseguests when he played, but no one whined about him not "needing" the money. I am absolutely not a Vanessa fan but she has played hard. And I think the difference between her and Derrick is #1- his personality and #2- he played a "cleaner" game of manipulation...no tears, wasn't mean about it, just pure manipulation. (If manipulation can be pure? Lol)

David, I remember the Lamborghini remark also. I almost choked, wondering why neither Liz nor Steve questioned it... unless they are completely clueless about the Lamborghini, which wouldn't surprise me!! Vanessa has given hints about a lot of things, so maybe she was amusing herself... seeing if this group was swift enough upstairs pick up on those little tidbits. They weren't.

I agree that a person's finances should not be an issue for playing/winning the game, but I think we all know how anger/jealousy works. IF they find out prior to voting, I think most of them would lean towards awarding the $$ to the person who "needs it more" (in their minds).

David said...

I know it shouldn't mean squat how much a person is worth, but we are talking about a bunch of kids who don't have squat except that one. It would make a lot of difference to the jury members in how they vote I think, but it will never come up so it is a moot point. Just something that Steve and Liz should have thought about as a strategy to win the game if they go up against Vanessa.

I really want to hear the questions put to Vanessa by the jury if they are indeed as bitter as Dr. Will says and if she owns up to what she has done, if she makes final 2. Her answers and how she answers them could make a difference. If she gets up there and throws out a bunch of crocodile tears and becomes her normal confrontational self, she could really blow her chance at winning. I don't know if she has it in her to be contrite. I have not seen any sign that she is anything other than a cut-throat, mean person and may have trouble adjusting to asking for votes from the jury instead of demanding what they will do.

monty924 said...

Sharon, I highly doubt that anyone will find out until after the vote just as they didn't find out Derrick's secret until after the vote last season. BB would not do that to Vanessa, and I'm positive that Vanessa would not let that out either. Just finished watching the last twenty minutes of the live feeds before they went dark. Liz was sweet making a message for all of us on the kitchen floor made out of chocolates. She spelled out "BYE!! <3" and they all told us goodbye. I will say one thing for Liz and it's something that I appreciated about her personality... she always thanked the live feeders to a camera with every gift or something they got thanks to the LF votes this season. She may have been the mean twin to some, but I never got that vibe and always thought her thank-you's were cute. Just me though...

Still fighting that urge to take a nap :))

monty924 said...

Steve also made sort of a plea to Liz about how he never outright lied to her in the game and he was always a straight shooter with her even with his nomination of her and Austin. Hmmm, will he take Vanessa if he wins the Final HOH? I'm not so sure he will take Liz now. :((

EXACTLY how I feel. I did like JMac. (And James and Meg)

Then he deserves to lose.

Vanessa played the game the way it is supposed to be played. You play to win. You don't go in looking for a showmance and you avoid it at all costs. You're not there to make friends. If you do that's fine but it's not your primary goal. Winning 500,000 is. You're not there to play pranks, organize social events,or waste time mugging for the camera thinking you're going to be a celebrity as a result.

You say whatever you have to say to whomever you have to say it to,to stay in the game.

That's how Vanessa played and that's how I would play.

Help me here - that very poor memory again. Back in the dawn of BB, wasn't there a guy with one leg? Did he win? I'm not sure. I seem to remember that he ended up winning because everyone felt sorry for him, not because of great game.

~~Silk said...

I looked it up. BB1. Eddie McGee.

David said...

Eddie McGee Silk. He won the first season of BB. I had to look it up myself so don't feel bad about not remembering it. =)

monty924 said...

S1, Silk. I didn't watch much of season one, but that's my understanding. America also voted back then.

Petals said...

Right. While I personally would like it if millionaires didn't win, I know that is not the criteria by which the contestants should be judged. Ditto if the contestants are super-poor, homeless or whatever.
What I'm talking about is how she keeps dropping this nugget, "Dude, there is so much about me that you don't know, man, that will blow you away. I can't wait to tell you, Dude." (Lol! you know, because she talks - and dresses - like a Vanilla Ice)
THAT is what I'm talking about. She seems to be so eager to drop that knowledge on them, about her lifestyle. A) that's very de`classe`, to brag about one's wealth, B) it's mean, you know? to be so giddy about rubbing something like that in others' faces.
Much like Frankie last season, when he told his boys about his sister, it didn't exactly endear anyone to him. At least he did offer that he'd be using his winnings to build an African dance school, hehe.

Gotta tend the shrimp...see you guys in a Lil while.

monty924 said...

uncartie, I'm fully on board for a Vanessa win because I believe she did play the best game, but it honestly could be Steve's game to lose tonight as well. I highly doubt that Liz could win because the Jury won't see her play as strong as Vanessa or Steve's game. Will did say that the jury if bitter but he also said they were all rolling their eyes at Austin during the roundtable. That doesn't bode well for Liz and out of the three of them, I do think she is least deserving of the win.
