BB19: Live Feeds into Wednesday - August 30

Things are all going kerflooey for him now

This isn't going to be the usual live feeds from inside the Big Brother House of Toxicity:
  • There have been many controversial, false accusations and just plain acts of stupidity in the house the last few days.
  • The backlash will affect the livelihoods and lives of the hamsters involved, without a doubt.
  • Chances are the redress will go towards the hamsters saying the nasty things rather than the person who's the target of the statements.
  • While I'm not happy that my own guilty summer pleasure and I put such work into this each summer for a few dollars here and there and the community on the blog ... I'm not about to get all up in arms over the hamsters.
  • I work in a toxic enough workplace in my personal life.
  • I don't like to be amidst hate and hostility.
  • It's just not me.
  • I personally don't think folks should get all excited about some people on a television show. Get excited about helping people struck by Harvey. Get excited about the unrest in the nation and in the world. Get excited about the real catastrophes going on in the world today.
  • This is just a TV show we watch.
  • Yes, if we were in there, it could be construed as a hostile workplace or some such thing.
  • Yes, if we were in there, we would be surrounded by toxic people and our lives would be miserable.
  • But in the grand scheme of things ... they chose to go on the show. BB gives them counseling after the season. Perhaps they didn't realize how horrible things can get. but there are some issues every season.
  • The positive is that BB production might realize changes need to be made.
  • Let's all take a few deep breaths and relax a bit ... or take our passion to the important things about living on this planet today.
  • If someone on the show says something stupid or unwarranted, hey ... that's on them. They will have to live with any repercussions.
  • And, just how does that affect us? It doesn't, really. If it does, perhaps it helps us to realize that we might need to be more compassionate and caring about others.
  • Please keep comments to the PG-rating. If you quote from other sites that are more lenient than that, go for all asterisks.
  • As for the house news, yes ... they are ganging up on Kevin at Paul's bequest. Paul wants them to think that Kevin turned against Jason and Alex. And, it's working.
  • Kevin admitted to Matt that he lied about the 25 grand with good cause, but never lied about the vote for him last week.
  • Matt continues to defy the Have Not rules and will surely go home this week.
  • Paul and Christmas next want Jason out.

Hold it together, Kevin.

The tongue strikes again

Please let that shirt go with Matt

Thank you. Unfortunately the hamsters - like so many people - don't think about the consequences of their words/actions. The lesson is learned afterward and it can be painful.
Well said, Jackie!

Im sorry friends, but I simply have to take a 'leave of absence' from the majority of things related to BB#19. The over the top bullying and downright cruelty "all in the name of the game" is much too upsetting.

In reality, Jackie is absolutely correct...in the longrun, the end result won't affect my personal life. At all. In the meantime, however, my heart hurts watching all the abuses that are so gleefully heaped upon one HG after another. It's simply not fun or enjoyable anymore.

Isn't it enough that we have young people committing suicide at alarming rates, all because of being bullied? CBS and BB have let this show descend into a low-light book of instructions titled, "How to Create a MOB Mentality and Bully Your Way to the Top."

I will continue to check Jackie's blog for her wit and captions... the only redeeming value that remains of this dismal season. My hope is to see you all again next summer, and that CBS will have made some very necessary adjustments to their contracts.

Take care...

Sharon, you aren't the only one. I have the feeds so I can chat, and I come here, but I cannot watch the goings-on.
It's depressing. My "real" life is rough, and I probably invest too much in a TV show, but I don't have kids or family or really anything else except TV and tennis. But that's MY issue, and I deal with it. Sorry if I brought my issues to the blog.
I'm going to remain tight-lipped (tight-fingered?) for the rest of the season, because there is just not anything good or funny to say, you know?

Love you guys, tho. ♥
(is this season OVER yet? LOL)

Sharon, I'm sad you've come to that decision but I agree with you 100 %. Unless CBS steps in the bullying situation will only get worse. It's their fault for not addressing it in earlier seasons. When I vote at Jokers for favorite HG I vote Hate for every player and the season with the exception of Kevin.

I don't usually comment, but I come to this blog a lot. I watch this show with my wife and daughters(13 and 6). The kids usually just like the comps and ceremonies, not so much the nitty gritty gameplay. I was saddened that one day when it was time to watch(right after they harassed Cody and Jess all day), I asked my baby girl was she ready to watch and she, at 6 years old, told me she did not want to watch anymore because they are so mean to each other and she doesn't like it.

From the mouths of babes.

I stopped watching and just read jackies blog also.

Thanks Petals and uncartie.
Petals, I always enjoy your posts, so I need you to know that it's nothing you've ever said because you are funny and fun. This decision is only about the HGs on BB#19.

Catch you all next season.

Sharon N, I am sorry to see you go. I understand your decision though. Thank you for expressing your opinion and standing by it. I enjoy your posts and will miss you. Take care.

I agree with everyone. The season is over for most all of us. I think making a reasonable comment to CBS is needed. The show needs to change. It would be in the best interest of all, including the families of the hamsters.

Oh no! Sharon N. please don't leave. I enjoy your comments!!!

Jackie is definitely right. This is a toxic Big Brother. I just don't understand it. Hopefully, CBS will see that the fans are not happy and change it. I don't mind a little banter and strategy; but these HGs are personal. How sad.

The sad part is that Paul probably could have achieved all his same goals without pushing the mob mentality and the outright bullying. I'm not a fan of using the term bullying, because I think it's overused and people seem to be getting softer as the years go by, but this season has been even too much for me. It's the "gang" or mob mentality that puts it over the top. The downright isolation and systematic abuse they heap on one HG at a time is just cruel and mostly unnecessary!

I'm not putting too much blame on CBS. I don't know what the HG's contracts say, but I'm sure acting like idiots and saying mean things is not breaking any rules. They signed up for this, right? Either is what Matt is doing (although I hate it). Unless it's violence or destroying equipment (Chima), there's not much BB can do. If they put new rules in place, then who decides where the line is drawn? This is happening in our country right now, once you start censoring people, where does it end? I think we just need to make an example out of these HG's once they get out, ESPECIALLY Paul. After what happened with BB17? everyone now knows to watch the racism. Let's make sure after this season they know not to be as cruel as they were this season. That's the best we, as an audience, can do.

Anon 1:56 - yes, sad huh?

Bizarro - you're right; Paul probably could have come this far without the vitriol.

PS - last night, Paul & Co plotted to "rig" the HOH comp on Thursday with the word "Trejo". When Paul says "Trejo", they will all vote False 3x (or something like that) or if it is a physical comp, they are to FALL when they hear "Trejo".

He gave these instructions sotto voce, barely moving his lips. It wasn't shocking, just so disappointing.

Thought everyone would like to know that James Hurling from the last two seasons of Big Brother is rescuing people in texas. Nice to hear something postie about a past houseguest! There are two videos of him on Jokers. The 2nd one has him in a boat rescuing a man who says weren't you on Big Brother! Always did like him!

Thank you, Jackie. Your comments are so appreciated as is this blog.

Sharon and Petals, I'm right there with you. I won't leave the blog because I love the show nights and all the witty comments. It's the rest of the week that just drags me down. Product of this season I guess.

I'll be here later for the show but I might be a little late. Sharon and Petals, I hope you two won't stay away from the show nights.

HUGS to all

As much as we'd like to see CBS do something the ratings are still great. I was reading the latest issue of TV Guide today (Yeah, they still print that) and BB is the 4th,5th,and 6th rated show. The only shows that beat it were America's Got Talent,Game of Thrones, and 60 minutes :(

Jackie, you're always full of common sense and great insight and I've been reading you since way back (BB2 or 3I believe). I don't have the live feeds and have no idea what happened. Can someone give a quick update? I know CBS edits everything and won't tell us the truth. -Deirdre

Thank you Jackie!!! I read your big every season and enjoy it very much!!! Out of all the blogs etc yours is my favorite....I work in a little town 30 miles South of Dallas as a Front Desk Manager of a Hotel where 90% of our guests are victims of Hurricane Harvey when I have a few minutes during my day I read your blog to take my mind off everything going on. So again Thank you keeping me up on my guilty summer pleasure too. To all blog readers if you can please donate to Red Cross to help our families here in Texas affected by this horrible tradgity it would be a blessing. On show note: I hate that they are treating Kevin so poorly

Hate to break it to everyone, but this is Big Brother and I doubt CBS will "step in to stop the bullying" just like they didn't really "step in" to stop the racism in BB15.

The whole point of the show is to watch how people behave under the pressures of living in a crowded, yet secluded house, with $500,000 hanging over their heads and this is what happens. I actually LOVE this about Big Brother, not because I get off on the terrible things people do on the show but because I find human behavior and social habits fascinating to watch.

One of the beauties of watching a show like Big Brother is that there are a million and one ways to play the game. No two or three winners have won this game using the same strategy and not all the season houses have the same collective vibe/strategies. We've seen some seasons resort to mega-alliances, some seasons of floaters, some seasons split directly in half, some seasons run by popular people and cliques, some seasons of individuals, and this season happens to be run like a mafia. Jason said it best in last night's episode: There are people in the shadows (namely PAUL, Alex and Christmas) who point to a person (Dominique, Mark, Elena, Cody, now Kevin) and the rest of the mafia/beehive attacks, and they do so socially rather than using the game rules or "numbers"/playing the numbers game. That to me is actually fascinating.

I guess I'm saying is that EVERYONE, including those in the house need to remember this is A) a game and B) big brother. I don't get the impression that any of the "bullying" is actually personal, but is rather strategy (bullying as strategy) and I also think this is a good reason why people like Kevin who have NO idea what Big Brother actually is before signing up to be on it shouldn't be recruited. But hey, they signed the form. Unless things are getting physical I don't think BB should step in and do anything. They signed up for this and they are deciding how to handle it. And that is what I love about BB!
