9:20 PM EDT: As I write this, Fergie is singing. We've seen some "insider" clips into the show, Simon explained his eye-rolling was in a discussion with Paula regarding Chris claiming that "nasally is a form of singing." Oh, and the group sang a song, too. No announcements on who's safe or not yet.
9:30 PM EDT: Still no boot news, a segment on next week's Idol Gives Back is done and over. Into commercial.
UPDATE: Sanjaya and Phil sent to opposite sides of the stage. Jordin joins Phil. LaKisha joins Sanjaya, Blake joins both of them. Chris goes with Jordin and Phil. Ryan talking to Melinda. Melinda is safe.
UDPATE: Ryan wants Melinda to pick which group - Chris, Jordin and Phil or LaKisha, Sanjaya, and Blake - is safe. She sits in the middle.
Ryan declares Chris, Jordin, Phil, and Melinda safe.
Blake, Sanjaya, LaKisha are bottom three.
Simon is smiling. He must think Sanjaya may go home.

UPDATE: They're dragging the results out with a Shrek movie segment. Now dragging it out more with a Martina McBride performance. Right now (9:48 PM EDT), all we know are the bottom and top three.

Sanjaya better go home. Imagine the uproar if one of the other two leave. I was on another mb last night, they want Sanjaya there through Bon Jovi night. Oh, please Lord, no. I have loved Bon Jovi since the 80's. I'll never be able to listen to them again. Here's hoping he goes home.
How can they drag this out any more. This does not have to be an hour show.

OMG! He's crying, now I feel bad for him. Don't get me wrong, he was overdue to leave, but he is still just a kid.....I just feel a little guilty now for whooping when they said he was going home. Can't believe LAKISHA was in the bottom three! So happy for Jordin.

Mighty Sanjaya has stuck out!!!
I was in a panic when the bottom three were announced. I realy feared that Sanjaya would luck out again.
Then I noticed that through out the show before the final results were announced that Sanjaya was sniffling. I don't know if he was told in advance or not but he "knew" he was going home tonight.
Now we can reclaim American Idol from those hostage taker fans of Howard Stern.

Take that Howard Stern!!!!! Finally we can get down to business with AI and not have to watch as Sanjaya's head grew bigger w/ each week he stayed. YEAAAAAHHHHHHHH! I had fists pumping and danced like a fool tonight when I heard his name called out to go home tonight. FINALLY!!!!!!! :)
WOW -- the only show I wanted to watch this season was the one where Sanjaya went home... just to wintess a modern culturla happening...lol. I got hints that it was happening soon from your last blog entry but I can't believe I missed it last night! I'm sure I can find a clip to see somewhere on the internet...
Does anyone know how this little change was orchestrated? Did someone threaten to sue Stern unless he told his voters to stop? Did AI cut off the voting lines to prevent him staying? People have felt like this about Sanjaya from week one or two... but there were those massive campaigns to keep him in all this time, so what made the difference this week?
I'm soooo glad that sanjaya is gone..and did you see the crowd? they were cheering and standing..i didn't know if it was because kiki was safe for sanjaya was going home..(i can tell you why i was jumping up and down w/ my kids..)and i couldn't believe that blake was in the bottom 3..imma have to start voting again i see..i like the girls, but i really like blake the best..but now all is right in AI land..
i heard on the radio that the new season of survivor will start filling in China this fall..and that this is the 1st time that China has let an American show file the Entire season in China, i thought that was kinda cool..plus its China..how cool with that be..its not an island..wonder how they are going to work that out..oh well..can't wait for tonights show..love that they randomly split the teams up and make the losing team go straight to tribal..can't wait to see if mooky flips..

Let's just hope that the Survivor filmed in China is not on the Gobi Desert. Remember they wanted to do one in the Middle East then 9/11 happened, so they changed location. Desert there too!!!! We will see...
