'Survivor 14: Fiji' - Season Finale - Liveblogged From the East Coast

So far, we've gone through the recap of the season. Return or refresh this page throughout the evening as it will constantly be updated as the show progresses here on the East Coast.

Now, there seems to be a bit of doubt about how faithful Earl might be to Yau-Man if he needs the hidden Idol to survive.

Immunity is up for grabs. Five section maze challenge. They have to cross five drawbridges blindfolded and collect five keys. Long maze - the length of a football field. Yau-Man just took the lead, but there's a long way to go. Cassandra is woefully behind. She may as well just sit down. Earl is just about out of it, too. Yau-Man still leading, Dreamz on his heels followed by Boo.

YAU-MAN has won Immunity!

Yau-Man is happy - both he and Earl are secured a place in the Final Four. Boo believes he'll be voted out and that's the plan. Dreamz is worried about his own place.

Boo thinks that he would be better in the Final Two for Earl than Yau-Man would be. He told him he can't win against Yau-Man.

Earl thinks he can beat Boo or Cassandra in the Final Two, but not Yau-Man or Dreamz. He thinks Yau-Man has the underdog vote and Dreamz has the sympathy vote. Boo is campaigning both Earl and Yau-Man.

Tribal Council: Jury is brought in. Dreamz is more concerned about folks not keeping their word over physical threats. Earl hints there might be concern about who they're against at the end. Boo thinks he's a better candidate to take to the F2 over Dreamz or Yau-Man. Dreamz thinks Yau-Man should keep him in for the F4 due to their pact. Boo just gave a tip-off that Earl picked up -- he said he told Yau-Man and Dreamz he would take them to the finals.

Boo voted for Dreamz and vice versa. Jeff is tallying the votes.

Earl's playing the Idol!

Votes: Boo, Dreamz, Boo, Boo. Boo is voted out.

In his closing words, he praised Yau-Man and said he deserved to win it. He also wondered if Dreamz would keep his word. He thinks he will, but "it would be interesting if he didn't."

Dreamz said he's going to keep his word. Earl and Yau-Man are good friends. Dreamz plans to win Immunity and give Yau-Man the necklace. The Final Four - Dreamz, Cassandra, Earl, Yau-Man - are now going through their rites of passage or memory tour, remembering those who got voted off as the show went along.

Lisi thinks all she lacked was the ability to "stick it out" and last. Yeah, right.

There was an ad for Big Brother 8 to start in July during the commercial break.

Final Immunity Challenge - Threshold for pain, each lay on a plank with the angles increased in time increments, water will stream on plank making it slippery. Last one hanging on wins. Dreamz told Yau-Man not to worry, he'll get the necklace back. Three will be going to finals as they did last year. So, it's Final Three in the running for the million.

They're now at a 45-degree angle, all still in. Cassandra having lots of problems. The others all hanging in... literally speaking.

Cassandra is now OUT.

Now up there 20 minutes, angle is increased to 55-degrees. Earl is OUT. It's between Yau-Man and Dreamz. Yau-Man is OUT. Dreamz has won the final Individual Immunity. Cut to commercial and we won't know if Dreamz keeps his word to Yau-Man until after the break.

Back at camp, Yau-Man told Cassandra he intends to vote Dreamz out. Earl thinks Dreamz could save himself since it's three not two in the finals. (Why are Earl and Yau-Man loyal to Cassandra? Other than the fact that either of them would win against her.)

Yau-Man is worried that Dreamz will vote him out. Dreamz just told Earl and Cassandra that he will do the right thing. "I'm good with four," he said. He wants to be known as honorable, a truth-teller, he's Dreamz.

They're heading to Tribal Council. Jeff tells the jury that three will be in the final Tribal Council. Jeff is questioning Dreamz about his promise to Yau-Man. Dreamz thinks if he gives up Immunity, he'll go home.

ACK. Dreamz is keeping the Immunity Necklace! He's crying as he should be. Yau-Man is stoic.

The votes: Cassandra, Yau-Man, Yau-Man, Yau-Man.

ARGH - Yau-Man is voted out - done in by Dreamz and stabbed in the back by Earl.

I can only think that Earl didn't think he'd have a chance to win against Yau-Man. With Dreamz breaking his word and Cassandra being useless, he should win with the jury. I think. I'll be ticked if Cassandra wins.

Earl hopes he still has Yau-Man's vote to win. Dreamz says he has no regrets. He seems very defensive about his decision (for some odd reason).

Day 39 - the last day. The three are smiling. Gifts are going to fall from the sky according to a note in a picnic basket. Earl has to swim out to go and get it because Cassandra can't swim. How do you even get on the show without being able to swim?

They're gathering all the camp stuff to light afire. The fire has started.

It's off to the final Tribal Council where they'll be questioned by the jury.

Opening Statements:
Earl -- I played an honest and clean game. Make the right moves and put myself in the right position. Name never written down, intelligent game. Want the respect vote.
Cassandra -- Thanks jury. Started slow, someone to come talk to, got with an alliance, never wavered.
Dreamz -- My life story, help me, help my life... and help other people.

The Questions/Statements:
Michelle: What do you think biggest obstacle? Dreamz - Not the starving, the thirst. Cassandra - Overcoming inability to swim. M: Does your fear of water win you a million? Earl - Only original Ravu member, no water, no food, Exile Island.

Edgardo to Earl: How did you find out who had Idol? E: Dreamz

Alex to Dreamz: Did you tell about the Idol? Wasn't that betrayal? Dreamz - Just deceit.

Mookie: Tonight isn't the time to lie.

Alex: to Cassandra: Integrity? Cass: Overheard. Alex says she discarded Stacy. A: Arguing... stop talking! To Dreamz: Your goals to help kids... you cheat, lie, backstab to succeed. Why? D: Game based on lies and deceit. A: Can't hide from karma forever.

Lisi: Catch a liar by the toe... Cassandra. Water shoes? Unprepared to play game. Greed kept you in the game. To Dreamz: How many zeroes in a million? Six, do you think I'm stupid? To Earl: Yesterday, Yau vote - whole show for the jury. Why you looked so shocked after voting him off? E: The shock was Dreamz not keeping word. Smart choice. L: Smart, lying manipulating.

Stacy: To Earl: The difference between you and Dreamz is you're more sophisticated. You'll land on your feet. Earl: A million dollars would change us all. I had troubles. Shouldn't be based on need.

Rocky: One question. How did you manipulate the best? "I am the biggest kicker because of..." Cass: Listened to a person at the right time. Dreamz: I manipulated my way to the top. I manipulated Yau. Earl: I manipulated everyone up there because no one even thought I was playing the game.

Boo: Tips hat to Yau - by far the best player. Dreamz deal with Yau... as a Christian, were you playing him at the time of acceptance of truck? Or later? I was playing the game. Boo - You're an immature Christian. The Devil dangle money in front of you.

Yau-Man: Personal statement - no testosterone overload. Can admit to a mistake. Enjoy the truck, don't feel guilty. Have the gonads to tell why you changed your mind. "I didn't change my mind. I played the game." Dreamz - I came here knowing what I was going to do. To Earl - Why didn't you take me to the next level. E: I wouldn't win against you. You played the best game by far.

They're voting now... and we should switch to NYC soon.

No cheesy entrance. They just made it look like Jeff carried the votes directly to the reunion show. I miss the cheese!

The votes: Earl, Earl,Earl, Earl, Earl...

The winner of Survivor 14: Fiji is EARL.

For the first time in Survivor history, the vote was unanimous -- all voted for Earl, as it should be.

Earl knew the second that Dreamz kept Immunity that he'd win.

Next season, the show will Survivor 15: China, the first American television show to be filmed there.

Earl wished his mother a happy Mother's Day and gave her half of his winnings.

Thank you, blog readers! You've made it a great season!

sitting here in CA reading the posts so I can be thrilled ahead of time!
I cant wait to see Yau win the immunity...that man earned this victory...and not one person on the jury can say he didnt!

Anonymous said...

Now we'll see just what kind of man Dreamz really is!

Anonymous said...

Thank you so much for doing this live blog!

Anonymous said...

Why in the world don't they just vote Cassandra out? Dreamz, Earl, & Yau are all tough competitors and all seem to be men of their words. I say take the hanger on out and let the best man win!

Anonymous said...

Orkmommy...as usual you are right on....why Earl is sticking with Cassandra now I have no idea....

Anonymous said...

NO - NOT YAU!! :(

Anonymous said...

DREAMZ IS A SCUMBAG!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I just hope & pray that the juy does NOT reward Dramz for his treachery......
It may be a game but I personally think this s just lower than scum!!!!

If I was Yau Man I would obstain from voting for anyone. STabbed in the back by all.

Anonymous said...

In the words of Dreamz...this sucks! Now to the reality of the game. I would have done the exact same thing Dreamz did. They all knew they couldn't win against Yau in the final, Dreamz knew he would be voted out if he gave it up. The point of the game is to Outwit, Outplay, Outlast. Dreamz has done all three of those. There is no way I would give up a million dollars for my daughter in favor of my word. When it comes down to it my word to a virtual stranger means nothing when it comes to providing for my baby. My vote is for Dreamz to win!!

Anonymous said...

Dreamz is a scumbag...if he was so unhonorable not to do what was promised at least they should have voted Cassandra or Earl out to keep Yau Man in the final three

Anonymous said...

His true colors came out. Game or no game.

Sydney said...

Oh MY GOD! I herad every one of you scream as soon as Yau got voted out.

I have to say, if Dreamz had kept his word, in truth, so many would be saying, That's NICE, but what a goof, the one guy who needs it most gave away his chance for his word...

But now, his vibes just VISIBLY went down. His guilt will prevent him from giving a good arguement at Tribal council, he will be tortured until he gets there, and for a long time whether he wins or does not win that million.

Anonymous said...

Really wonder if Cassandra thinks she has a chance. No way. Dreamz should give the truck back to Yau, he can now buy one. IMAO

Anonymous said...

Sydney, Dreamz is feeling no guilt. Said he planned it all along. Sorry Orkmommy, I hope he's outta there. He's been untrustworthy all along. He's a SCUMBAg!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

orkmommy, I would want MY kids to know I'm an honourable person.!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Somebody with that lack of integrity can't be trusted to use his winnings on his children anyway. Anybody who uses his "poverty level" to get the sympathies of the jury is pretty lowdown. I believe everyone of those playing have to work for a living. I am tired of those that blame the world for their lack of success.

Sydney said...

Oh Lisi -- SHUT UUUUUP. What a blow hole.

Sydney said...

Whoa Alex.... Rocky ends up being more calm than most. This is one of the nastiest juries that I ever remember. Bitter!

Anne-Julie said...

GO Dreamz Go!

Anonymous said...

arrrrghhhhh~ Orkmommy no way!
Dreamz is a scumbag...Remember when Twila swore on her son ? that cost her the million...Dreamz should not win the money...he wont do good with it...you need character to survive in any situation...and YES give back the truck dummy.

Anne-Julie said...

You're right about the nastiest jury ever... Sydney...

My God!!!

Why does BOO bring the ''Christian'' issue???

Sydney said...

Dreamz in answering YAu -- He was so hot on getting the truck at that moment I don't believe he had in mind that he would not keep his word. I think that came out later, and I think he wasn not sure til the moment he actually decided to keep the necklace. I can't believe Dreamz doesn't remember a few short days back enouhg to just SAY that. He'd have more votes for him if he did.... But we all know Earl is going to win. Who bets there will be even one vote for Cassandra?

Anne-Julie said...

Cassandra has been... floating... to the final...
I sure hope she WON'T win at all!

Sydney said...

aj -- clearly the jury did a lot of talking and even strategizing among themselves while in sequester.... that seems very evident. WHile there had to be some of this in the past seasons, it has never been this evident.... I guess it is a way they can still play the game but this was the most aggressive group. Usually there is only ONE attack from a jury member per season.

Anonymous said...

How is Earl's lack of integrity any different than Dreamz? Earl knew he couldn't win the million against Yau, so he voted him out. Dreamz knew he couldn't stay in the game without keeping the II. It's a game. I could easily live with myself by having lied to a stranger that I'll never see again knowing that I'm providing a better life for my child. She would know that I did what I had to do to give her that life too!

Anne-Julie said...

are yall gonna do something like this ... I mean live blogging... for BIG BROTHER 8 ???

FABULOUS!!! Earl got all 9 votes

Anonymous said...

Jackie -- I miss the cheese too. The best entrances were the first few where Jeff carried the votes across the world. There was that season where he was on a plane, a boat, a waterski, a helicopter, etc... That was the best!!

Congrats to Earl. He played a great game and I'm glad he won!!

Anonymous said...

p.s. Earl, a bottle of wine & some Barry White could make for a very interesting evening ;)

Anonymous said...

This was great, Jackie. I look forward to big brother and your blog. Thank you.

Congrats to Earl. Of course I wanted you to win but Earl is second best.

Anonymous said...

So, if Earl got all 9 votes how do they decide who wins second place?

Sydney said...

LOL Orkmommy -- I thought the same thing exactly...barry white and all!

ANd delee I too think that If Dreamz kept the necklace he should at least have said I willgive back the truck....even if YUau said forget it, keep it!

Anonymous said...

Good question. Is there a 2nd place or do they get the same amount for the last 2 &3?

Sydney said...

Orkmommy- MAybe they spilt the $100,000 between the remaining two?

Anonymous said...

Sydney -- wanna share? :)

Sydney said...

I know we all know this but tongiht it seems to warrent it's repeat -- TOW WORDS: Jeff, Dimples!

That scene where Stacy or Michelle (I can't tell them apart) falls off the tower CRACKS ME UP everytime! I can't help it, it's just classic television!!

Anonymous said...

Like I said awhile ago, if it couldn't be Yay-man, I'm glad it was Earl. I understood his reasoning. I'll never understand Dreamz I wonder if he really is even even poor like he said. He lied about everything else and he said he would lie or con or do whatever he had to do. Cassandra, I think she thought she really had some kind of chance. Why she would think that is beyond me. Did she really believe her cheerleader talks were going to win her votes? As for Lisi, she's still an ass-ette! r....I'm happy foe Earl. Yau-man is a class act all the way. I salute you, old man!

Anonymous said...

Orkmommy, please rethink your thinking. As a 75 yr old mom and mother of five and grandmom to 12, material things are NOT important. Integrity is. Please do not let your kids go thru life without keeping their word. They will always think they can "get by" by cheating. I beg you, rethink!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

how was 2nd place decided?
Debbie

Anonymous said...

Have to say Orkmommy, I agree with anon 10:22. I'm a 60 year old mom and gramma and, game or no game, what has Dreamz just taught his son? He even swore to GOD! I don't think KARMA is done with him yet!

Anonymous said...

I was so happy to know that Earl got all nine votes!!! If either of those others had gotten any,I would have been real upset with that jury! In my heart,I understand why and what Earl did in voting Yau off,but I really am miffed at him for writing Yau's name on that paper. But the biggest shame of all was that back stabbing, lying piece of poop named "Nightmare" not even having the respect to NOT write Yau's name down, even after Yau asked him nicely not to do that.

I wish Yau had never made that deal and out of all the people to have chosen to make a deal with,I knew "Nightmare" wouldn't keep his word. And could Jeff have talked to that cheater any more tonight in the reunion??? At least I got to watch a good part of "Brothers& Sisters" while "Nightmare" and "Miss Do-nothing" were on.And how laughable was her "Dear Abby" excuse for her success in lasting that long?? I have two words for her.....Yau and Earl.....that was the reason.

OK,I can live with Earl winning, but we all know who the true winner was....YAU-MAN!!!! I wish they had had another contest like when they gave Rueben the mil and had us vote to give a new $80K truck away...cause I know who would have won! I hope those two posers have to split the second place money.

And "Nightmare",you rank right up there with Jonny Rotten and Richard Hatch in my book for the most untrustworthy and mean players of the game. And,Orkmommy, you are wrong, not everyone would have done the same thing for the money. I'd still have to live with myself and look myself in the face each day.Money IS NOT everything in this life.

Anonymous said...

NO,Jackie...........THANK YOU for your excellent coverage and insights and witty sayings and keeping order in the house! I think we all are so grateful and glad we found a home here!

Can't wait for BB8...bring it AWWNN!!!

Anonymous said...

I don't think any of us can say what we would do when it came down to giving your word in a game and a chance at actually winning a $1,000,000. As much as I wanted him to keep his word, I really don't know what I would do in that circumstance...and you can chide orkmommy all you want, but you don't know for sure either what you would do either. It was a hard decision to make for Dreamz, but again remembering it was a game I may have done the same thing, maybe slipping Yauman something on the side when no one was looking.

I thought Alex and Lisi were idiots in the questioning. Alex asked a question and then wouldn't let them answer.

Earl deserved to win since Yauman couldn't, but it lost its excitement cause you knew he would.

By the way, change the subject for a minute... I did get to go back and see Jacob in the chair in Lost. Froze the frame and there he was. Couldn't believe I missed it when watching it the first time.

Thanks for the post Jackie. I was late watching and just now caught up.

MAN, OH MAN! First Amazing Race and NOW Survivor. July seems so far away! Big Brother NEXT! I'm so looking forward to having someone to like a whole bunch and someone to hiss and boo at. Sundays and Thursdays won't be the same for a long while.

Jackie S. said...

I think, despite his protests to the contrary, that Dreamz had initially planned to keep his word. But then his own dreams got to him -- he didn't think things through when he accepted on the spot. Yes, Yau-Man's "gift" wasn't completely innocent, either. And, yes, Earl knew he couldn't win against Yau-Man at the end.

They all did a bit of sneaky stuff. In a way, I think Dreamz was the only one who really didn't think things out and got caught in the worst situation. He should never have accepted the deal. From the time he did, he lost the million no matter if he kept his word to Yau-Man or not. If he kept his word, he would have been voted out after giving Yau-Man immunity. Had he kept Immunity, he'd lose all the jury votes for such an outright betrayal, especially when added to his Four Horsemen betrayal. He couldn't win no matter what he did. He may as well try to go for it all like he did.

In watching the reunion, I think Yau-Man called it right. Dreamz' thinking and planning isn't organized.

Me? Not that I would have made it that far in the show, but what the heck would I do with that tractor-trailer of a vehicle?

I sometimes go for the villains on the show. I liked Richard Hatch the first season, but he was a smart villain (until the tax thing). Dreamz wasn't really a villain and he wasn't overly smart or, as Yau said - he couldn't organize his thoughts. An unintentional villain perhaps.

Anonymous said...

Kind of like Rob (Amber's). He was kind of a villain, But I respected him anyway. I just can't muster up any for Dreamz, somehow.

dla said...

I have just one thing to say...

How in the world could Dreamz have imagined he had ANY chance at all after backing out on his deal with Wow Man?? He was truly delusional throughout the entire game.

Earl won it, and he deserved it considering the final three.

PS: Alex was exeptionally brutal at tribal council. Yikes.

Deeds said...

Lisi and Alex should be embarrassed at their behavior. They are so bitter. Where does Alex get off treating Cassandra the way he did after he made the comment about Stacey treating Dreamz and Cassandra rudely during the coffee episode. He was degrating and an ass. Lisi is just a fat ass who acted like a big baby because she got kicked out the nice digs and lost her peeps. I hope Karma bites them in the ass after treating them so badly. Idiots.

Anonymous said...

A lot of folks are down on Dreamz, down on Alex, Lisi, and even Boo. All of these people made a decision from their own frame of mind. Alex from his jurist perspective [literally], Lisi from a flaky point [in some folks opinions], and Boo [from a christian's perspective]. I think they made the right one, game wise and isn't that the whole point of Survivor? Survival of the fittest, against anyone in your way?

Dreamz did what he did in the name of the game, and Yau even said, "Don't feel GUILTY". He also said it was HIS (Yau's) mistake. Yau, I'm sure is not worried whether Dreamz offered the truck back to him. I have to admit that my reaction was... DREAMZ GIVE IT BACK TO HIM, but Yau doesn't need that truck and he is the only one that should judge whether Dreamz is or is not a scumbag.

I watched the entire show and replayed a few moments and I think they are all (jury and final three) fine with how it turned out. Earl deserved the win and he sealed it with a vote to oust Yau. Yau respected it enough to vote for Earl. They all did in fact.

This was a great Survivor season, and it was actually the most honest and true to the original intent of the show. I guess we have Dreamz to thank for that, shudder.

It's been great reading and blogging and now its on to the favorite summertime pastime... Big Brother. See you then.

Deanna said...

Im sorry, but I could never have done what Dreamz did. Im a firm believer in Karma and a woman of my word. It wasn't as if Yau offered Dreamz a free meal in his place, he offered him a VERY expensive vehicle that he knew would change his life. It is a game but when someone does or gives you something that will benefit or change your life outside the game and you agree to the deal and then dont go through with it, then where is your integrity? Yau offered something that was outside of the "Survivor" realm and Dreamz took the truck and skipped town. I feel sorry for Dreamz, his child and the children he works with... Dreamz has taken Survivor to a new low.... Johnny Fairplay isnt looking so bad right now is he?

Great Season, glad it was either Yau or Earl to win. And I was thrilled it was unanimous... Cant wait for the China season... :)

Anonymous said...

Think of the taxes and insurance on that truck (A LOT)...once Dreamz gets any $$$ from Survivor and fills his truck gas, he will be broke again. Bad deal Dreamz, but you can live in your truck!

Jackie....kisses and hugs for a great Survivor season. What do you think of "Pirate Masters"? Any buzz?

Anonymous said...

Dreamz has "TWO" small children, either he is not that poor OR is living off us all. Not to sound mean but if you are poor do not have children. Also cheerleading schools are a huge business in the South. They start them out young down there, so he has to be making some $$$.

Anonymous said...

I guess that none of us really know what we would do in any situation, until we are in that situation - we can sit in our living rooms & say, "i would never betray etc etc etc"
also, does our honesty & integrity & religious beliefs have to guide us when we are playing a game ?? i guess that is what all the reality shows are about - outwit, outlast, outplay - and the biggest question of all - what would YOU do for a million dollars ??
i liked rob in every reality show he was on, he plays people, & he knows what to say & when to say it-plus, he backstabs, & lies - yau man is a true man of his word, & he played with integrity and honesty - how are these players the same, & how are they different ?? we each have to answer for ourselves

this was a great show, watching someone like yauman playing against people like dreamz and cassandra - different styles, different personalities

for some reason, i think BB is much more of a backstabbing, lying, cheating show than survivor is - survivor to me seems more like a chess match, where the board changes every 3 days

had to voice my opinion :)

What was the deal with the jury? Boy were they nasty. A bunch of sore losers!!

I think another auto company will "reward" yau-man with a vehicle. He really did deserve to win, Earl never came close in any challenge, Cassandra never started, and Dreamz, at least he played.

Yau-man taught us all something during this game. He is an amazing person I think.

Anonymous said...

Alex, the lawyer, certainly acted as befitting of his profession if I ever saw one! It was kind of rude of him,but I wanted Cassandra to answer the question too. Her jsutification,in her mind anyway, just didn't hold water. She hooked herself to Yau and Earl, two honorable men,and knew they would carry her along just as they said they would! Lisi, well she was just Lisi,an unlikeable person if there ever was one. I could NEVER be her friend.

And...I DO think I know how I would react if faced with D's dilemna. First of all,I would never be in that position, but I would have held to my promise. Guys, I have had a liver transplant, come very close to dying and again I will say....money IS NOT everything!

now i have a question..did ne one else have trouble understanding dreamz or was it just me???..2nd question..do all the peopel get money per week like on bb? or just the top so many?? i have always wonder'd that, and then when jeff ask'd boo about getting his acl fix'd he said i should take some of this money and get it fix'd but i probly wont..and he came in 5th..just wondering..

ok 2 down and 1 to go..lets get on with bb8..lol..

What a season of Survivor! I was very happy to see Earl win and was not at all surprised by the unanimous vote. The moment Dreamz reneged on his deal I knew Earl was the winner of Survivor 14. I don't blame Earl a bit for writing down Yau's name. He knew Yau was the only won who could beat him. I think while he was perfectly willing to have a final three of him, Yau and Cassandra and take his chances with the jury, when the opportunity for a sure win was thrown in his lap, of course he took it - hello $1,000,000 - that's 6 zeroes by the way (Lisi is truly an idiot). It was also painfully obvious from the juries questions just how the wind was blowing. The way I saw it was Dreamz had no chance of winning either way, so he might as well have given the necklace and be looked at as a man of his word. I don't know if he thought people on the jury would respect what he did and give him the win or maybe he knew he had no chance, but wanted to hand the win to Earl. That was the question I wanted Jeff to ask him. I loved Yau and really think he deserved to win, but I think Earl deserved it too. Congratulations Earl - and yes, he was looking quite delectible last night, who knew!

Am I the only person who was appalled when Lisi addressed 3 black people with "eenie meenie miney moe"?

Apparently the curse of the car still stands. NEITHER of the car "winners" (Yau and Dremz) won the million dollars.

I address this again, with the fed and state taxes that Dreamz has to pay on that truck, it will be up for sale. Check E-Bay. IMAO Even if they get appearance fees for each day on Survivor, Dreamz is up the creek without a paddle to settle his taxes for the truck. I think a lot about him is made up. He does have a job and 2 kids (small ones at that). Cassandra was nothing but a shirt-tail rider and did not belong in the final 3. Never have seen such a worthless person make it so far. I know, a good bet to take to final 3, but did she think her mother-attitude would let her win. BARF. Did not realise that Boo considered himself that religious till last night!!! He sure drilled it to Dreamz. Of the 3, Earl deserved it, but feel bad for YauMan.

Side note...Rupert should be in Pirate Masters. IMAO He would be good at that.

I don't know why Jeff seemed to find Dreamz so "charming." But at the very least we can say he gave each competition his all. Clearly Yau Man understood, after the fact, that in Dreamz he was dealing with a child/man. I believe that, like a child, Dreamz lusted so after the truck he would have promised to give his children away to get it...but later, when he had the it, his lust for the whole pie consumed him, and like a child he wanted a "do over" regarding his promise and convinced himself he had just "been playing Yau." Unless Dreamz follows Yau's suggestion and gets some education, I think his future is bleak. Unfortunately he couldn't think logically that he was in a no-win situation after he made that deal. To give immunity to Yau and keep his word/integrity, he would be voted out and have no chance. But to keep it, he lost everyone's vote and his own self respect if he could have understood that concept, which he clearly is not familiar with. As for Cassandra, I wouldn't be very proud of myself if I were her. She rode the coattails of two far better people and would have betrayed either of them if she thought it would serve her needs. She too seems oblivious that she had NO chance of winning and should have been faithful to Yau for her own sake if not his. She has to live with herself and she has to know that Yau deserved to win, even over Earl. That said, I'm glad Earl won over the other two, but truly we all know that Yau was the best this season, winning immunity, strategizing, etc. He was done in my trusting and judging others by his own moral compass. Yau is the winner in the eyes of most viewers and he can hold his head high. Of course he would have liked the money but I'll bet he's pretty proud that at 54 he beat Earl and other younger players in every immunity challenge. The performances of Earl and Cassandra were an embarrassment to them both. Life goes on...I think Earl will have a good one, and Yau too. Dreamz lack of a moral compass will cause him to have a chaotic life...as it has already..two children, no marriage, and always crying the blues about his poverty, which he seems to think makes him special and entitles him to special treatment. Maybe he needs to rethink his priorities, get out of bed and into school, and then get a good job, and set a better example for the children he has brought into this world.
Thanks Jackie for another great season and look forward to BB and your commentary.

Survivor related but until another newsy bits comes on... Just saw that they are spinning off Heroes shows - next is "Heroes,Origins" and they renewed Friday Night Lights for another year.

I'm SO psyched for another season of FNL! And glad to take a gander at Heroes spinoffs as long as Heroes comes back too (think that's a no brainer)

On the Early Show this AM, Cassandra was asked only one question. "Cassandra, I want to go back to that Survival Council when everyone was peppering you with questions. It would s seem that on some points, their questions seemed so mean-spirited to you. What was that all about??" Her reply. "You know, I really think that at a critical point in the game, um,one of the people in their alliance, Stacy, Stacy, changed alliance, an d so it left a lot of the people in their alliance upset, angry and feeling a bit bad." What? Does any of her reply make any sense to any of you? Does that answer his question in any way? I think she is totally unaware of why she didn't get any votes. Maybe someone in the "real" world will explain it to her.

Bionic Woman, is one of NBC's "hero night" shows, how orginal. Also a spinoff of Heroes. Featuring a new character each week. Yawn.

I think what Dreamz did was scuzzy, and I would like to have seen him keep his word because I liked Yau, but this whole thing gets blown out of persepctive. It is a GAME. The goal of the GAME, the reason they brought you there, is to see you duke it out to win $1MM. Not to make friends, find a husband, build your character, help you lose weight, etc.

There are plenty of football players that are friends with someone on the opposing team, or boxers that are friends, but they don't hesitate to knock someone down (literally) to win. That's called a game.

Instead, they have turned this GAME into a metaphor for "life" and if you do something socially unacceptable on the Island, you must be a horrible person off Island too.

There is not one person on Survivor who doesn't lie or deceive in some way...some are just more overt or calculated than others. Every time someone asks you point blank if you're voting them out, and you are but you don't tell, that's a lie. You come back from exile island and find the idol, but then say you didn't, that's a lie. You swear to take someone to the final 4, and then change alliances mid-way through (for whatever reason), it's a lie. Talk nice to someone's face, then rag on them behind their back, it's betrayal.

You can call it strategy if you want, but it's still strategy that was born out of perpetrating a lie.

I am so tired of hearing "character" "lifelong friends" blah, blah, blah. Dreamz' "game" playing certainly contributed to having an interesting show to the end.

AMEN Anon 3:33!! It's a game. If you can't live with lying or betraying then stay home and watch, don't play. My daughter knows about honor, but she also knows that family is extremely important. I would never play the game of Survivor unless I was in it to win it. Dreamz children will know that dad did what he did to make a better life for his children!

To Anon 7:13 - There is a difference between "making it" and being "poor". Life circumstances change and you can't judge what someone else does. I was in a very different situation when my child was born and due to circumstances beyond my control I am now a struggling single mom.

Wouldn't you like to see Yau-man, the strategist, and Ozzy, from last season, who honestly like the survival part of the game on an all-stars?

What was with Lisi saying it was all about greed? Does not every contestant go on with the idea of getting a $1 million prize or should they all be on for their 15 minutes of fame? Come on!

Great recap as usual. What would we do without you? Even though I've been mostly MIA I try to at least read the blog whenever I get a chance.

Can't believe another Survivor season is over. I'm not unhappy that Earl won but was hoping Yau-Man, as he did play such a good game without major compromising his integrity.

Just got a blip of a new reality show that Burnett is producing. Have you heard about it yet? Also, saw the first commercial for BB8. Hope you get some extra sleep before it starts. LOL

Thanks to you and your devoted posters for making Survivor another interesting season.

Anon 3:33- I think you got it wrong. When the something done in the game affects your "Outside the game life", then I do find a problem with it. If one player, in a fit of rage over a loss threatens another players family, is that okay? Or is it just playing the game?Because according to what you have said, all is fair in the game of Survivor (Scary!) Yau gave Dreamz a chance to better his life, whether he kept or sold the truck. Yau took an element from the game and applied it to real life and figured that Dreamz was an honorable man. Dreamz didnt get a free meal "in the game", he was given a chance to be able to drive his children where they needed. It is a game, but leave the backstabbing and manipulating to the things that are in the game and not what affects us in the real world. Dreamz has no integrity and is as greedy and shady as I thought him to be in the beginning. The only ones who lose are his children who witnessed a grown man act like a child. To future Survivors out there, Keep the backstabbing in the game please!!!

Dreamz was able to leapfrog over Yau because he reneged on his "Promise to God" to give him the immunity idol if he won it. I wish these people would leave God out of their game playing if they are planning to deceive. Yau's mistake was trusting him...I was hoping he could win his own immunity and disappointed when he let go. As for the truck, the only reason Dreamz ended up higher in the ranking than Yau, and therefore won more money, was because of his breaking his promise. Even someone with as limited a sense of right and wrong as Dreamz should have returned the truck he accepted under false pretenses after the "game" was over. He won more than Yau...give the man back his truck since you didn't deliver. That's not game playing...that's afte the game is over and you have basically "stolen" something. Most people could not drive that vehicle with any pleasure knowing how they got it. At the very least Dreamz should have honored Yau's request that Dreamz not vote for him...but I guess as an Asian man he was odd man out in the end...not one of the three wanted to go "mano a mano" with a small older man in front of a jury.

Deanna:

Anon 3:33 here.

I think you misunderstood my meaning. No, Survivor is not a free-for-all...there are and should be rules about physical threats, etc.

At the same time, without the white lies, the game could not even progress...no strategizing, no alliances, no nothing.

But what happens on the game doesn't isn't indicative of your whole life and how you live outside the game.

On Survivor, in challenges, some people push, shove and even knock people down. You wouldn't do that in the real world in an office or out on the street, but it's what's necessary to play the GAME. Earl pushed Dreamz in the water. Certainly doesn't mean he is a bad man and goes around shoving old ladies in water puddles.

Survivor Island is an isolated microcosim, and you do what you have to do there to survive/win. I am disappointed in Dreamz' choice to keep the truck, but it doesn't mean that in the "real world" he will be lying and stealing from everyone he meets. Rupert stole the shoes on his season, and from all appearances in the outside world, he is a loving, charitable, honest man. But he did what he had to do to play the game.

To Anon-3:33 again- I do see what you are saying, but I just cant get on board with the "its okay and part of the game" way of thinking. I was completely floored and disgusted when Dreamz didn't follow through, even as he "swore to God". In all his confessionals, he talked of how he would honor the agreement and that he didnt realize he had agreed to getting rid of himself in the final four round, until after he made the deal. He still talked of honoring his deal w/ Yau. His greed over wanting a truck and then for wanting the million made him an ugly character. Im all for the way the game is played and realize that backstabbing is a part of the game and the only way to get by at certain times, I just could not as a person, accept something that affected my real life, and then turn and stab that person in the back. Im a person with integrity and could not have done that... Dreamz had to know that by keeping himself in the game and getting rid of Yau-Man, that he would have no chance of winning the Million. Or maybe he is as stupid as he seems. I think the jury's unanimous vote for Earl proved that most people are disgusted with Dreamz. If that deal had never occured in the game and Dreamz had found himself in the final three, I think he would have probably won it since most people would have sympathized for him and his hard knock life. Im just thrilled a decent person won the game. Earl played a strong mental game and deserved the win, even giving his mom half the money. A true class act and man of integrity...
