'Survivor 15: China' - East Coast Update - 10/04 Show

Keep tuned here (and join in with your comments!) as this post will be updated as events occur on the East Coast!

Rewards Challenge -- Thanks to the women, Zhan Hu won their first challenge. Reward was comforts including a kerosene lantern, kerosene, blankets, and a tarp. They kidnapped Leslie.

Immunity Challenge -- Zhan Hu won, despite spoilers to the contrary! It will be Fei Long going to its first Tribal Council.

Leslie was voted out. Courtney and Leslie voted for Jean-Robert to go, the rest voted for Leslie -- 6-2. Todd and Courtney seemed very reluctant to vote for her to leave, but did.

Wow, Courtney is so not cut out for this challenge. What were they thinking.

I wonder if she might have been throwing it to get at James and Jean-Robert.

Does this not throw the spoilers info for a loop. I truly think Courtney had nothing to give.

I say Leslie is a gonner.

Tessa said...

Well I called that one before the vote. She would have done better on the other tribe.

CBS, please give those people some clothes! Never before in previous Survivors do I remember such brute strength challenges like they have this year. Sue am glad I am watching from my AC and comfortable chair where the heaviest thing I have to lift is my diet coke!

I really thought Courtney would be going home tonight.

They need to feed Courtney. Oh my goodness. How in the world is that woman going to go on for 30 days? I don't care for her attitude either. "Where are you going to put me so I do the least damage?" That is exactly what her tribe should be doing. She is lucky she can pick her feet up daily. I read the spoilers and I hope they are wrong. I want her to go get some nourishment.

Well I have had fun talking to myself. Now I am on to flipping between CSI and Greys Anatomy.

I can't remember so many grueling comps in one season. These are some tough people! James ia a bad-ass army of one.

Dave grates on me the way he speaks to women, so condescending.

And Jean-Robert is disgusting. The remarks he made about Courtney to James were downright slimy. James should have walked away instead of laughing along with the pig. There's no way that perv would be sleeping next to me every night. He'd be seeing the medics after my well-placed knee shot!

And what's with Dave and the nudity? The other guys had their clothes on. Guess he wants to take full advantage of his camera time.

I would cheer from the rooftops if those two were gone in the next two weeks. They're both totally disgusting!

Courtney is unbelievably weak. What is she doing there?

I knew Leslie was going the minute she started raving about the other tribe and the three Christians over there. She literally dug her own grave.

Didn't Leslie's mom ever teach her daughter never to discuss religion or politics. She made herself a target, although I was sorry to see her leave before Courtney, another whiner, who brings little to the team.

I did not need the image of Naked Dave...

What was the point of Dave's nudity? Just seemed like a stupid move on his part.

That Courtney girl is very annoying... Plus, the way she was in the challenge, I would have voted her out NOW! At this point it is about the team and doing good in challenges and they need to cut the weak links. I like the red team the best still, minus a few people.

James is a force and fun to watch! He is still my favorite!

I too find Dave VERY condescending to everyone, especially the women.

Lesley really needed to watch previous Survivors to know better than to run her mouth so much.

Did anyone see the Bonaduce/johnny fairplay video? Now Fairplay is pressing assualt charges... Unreal! I'm not a fan of Danny Bonaduce(sic?), but if someone jumped on me and proceeded to hump away, I would have thrown them too. Both of them give me the creeps.

Courtney overdid it holding her hands up all the time in that poor me position. And Bummer, I thought James was all hunky sweetness...

Tessa, I appreciate your being on while It's live --it's a fun read. I will try to do that next time, have my laptop with me. I guess so much goes so fast I don't want to look away, but we all could still comment during commercials live-time... can anyone else join bext time? Live blogging IS fun...

Leslie -- a nurturer but just not smart in the game. Can't be that chatty.

I left my comment about Dave's nakedness on the previous post.

Hey mm -Monty!!!!

I agree with everyone who thinks Jean-Robert is super creepy. I definitely would have let him have it by now. As far as Dave being naked, I don't think it should be allowed. It's one thing to walk around camp naked, but completely different when it's a challenge and it's expected that other people will be rubbing up against you. Completely unacceptable to force the men from the other team to deal with that.

I was pleased that the Zhan Hu girls won that reward challenge for their team. The few players on that tribe I like are the women and Erik, so it was good to see the women prove their worth, it'll be good ammunition for them later down the road.

And something occurred to me last night. Does Denise talk? I can't remember if she's spoken in the previous episodes. But she didn't utter one word through this entire episode.

Please don't comment on spoilers here. I purposely did not read them, because I did for Amazing Race last time and it ruined the suspense for me. I want to wait until the final 3 to see who is there not read about it in week 3.
Thanks
Margo

James had been my favorite until he started talking to Jean Robert...and they both came across as creeps. Courtney needs to be sent home soon..that girl is a disaster for the tribe. She is way too skeletal to be on Survivor. No strength for comps for sure.

Here's the reason for Dave's nudity - he is exploiting non-gay man's homophobic tendency (at least in America.) Among hetro men in America, there is an aversion if not taboo to touch another man's genitals - so by being naked, he thinks he will have the advantage in that his opponents will probably not grab him low or hook theirs hands between his leg to lift and throw him.

I too do not like all this nudity. The stretch tops that they keep tugging up are very unattractive. Very boring and the stronger players have the edge where the puzzles were so much more entertaining. I am missing the mental challenges or the word puzzles to solve which we emjoyed from the original survivor programs. I would rather see their brains at work then their naked bodies. Remember Rudy and his comment, "I don't know" as he tried to figure out a puzzle running through the trees. Very funny. Naked mud wrestling is not family fair. They are going to lose a lot of fans if it continues. Actually this cast is quite boring. If they are looking for a younger audience so be it but they should realize that they will lose their core who have been with them from the beginning. Also because they spend so much time showing the nudity we do not have a chance to hear any of them talk so we can get to know them. and to think that they went all the way to China to find such a disgusting set. I might add that this cast is the worst that I remember.

Caroline said...

Very surprised by your comments Anon. I actually think this cast is pretty interesting and that they're setting up for a good season of strategic play. As for your opinion that they need more mental challenges. Almost, if not all of the Immunity Challenges this year have involved partially physical aspects and partially mental aspects. Just look at last night. Courtney was still on the first set of ropes when the other team got to the puzzle. They got stuck which gave Fei Long a chance to make up enough ground to get to the puzzle as well. They almost had a chance to pull out the win from behind. I think that shows that mental challenges factored greatly into this season. They can't just spend the whole season standing around a chalk board trying to unscramble words, that would be terribly boring.

I do agree that some of the challenges so far have been a little too agressive. I like physical challenges, but they don't always have to be against each other. Jean-Robert is truly disgusting. I don't think James is a bad guy though. He wasn't agreeing with J-R at all and he was denying having any intimate interest in Courtney. I mean, who would want her,she looks like a skeleton with skin. I agree with someone's comment about Denise also, I don't think I've seen her utter a single word.

i gotta say...i have never seen so much blurred screen as i have with this Survivor...
the cast may have been silly for dressing so inappropriately to begin with, but i wonder if they were mislead on purpose as to when they would actually be "dumped" into the challenge...maybe burnett wanted to "accidentally" show more skin for ratings purposes
i, for one, find it quite nice with regards to aaron and james...but the poor guys out there having the likes of skeletons and such to look at!
