Wow starting on time 2 weeks in a row...

Hi Jackie hope you are much better!

Delee said...

Why do the redheads think every country they visit should speak English, they are Ugly Americans!!!

becky said...

Delee, I was thinking the same thing! I wonder what they would do if someone came up to them in America and got angry because they couldn't speak German. Oh, yeah, that would be different.

Delee said...

Hi Becky I agree but if it was my son he knows German...LOL

becky said...

Are we the only ones here? More French fries and fried chicken for us, huh?

Jackie S. said...

Luke is going to pout again. Margie DOES look like Alice Cooper with red eyes

Anonymous said...

Momma Margie is a bit of a control freak.

Jackie S. said...

Becky - Can you request that in Mandarin, please?

monty924 said...

YAY, my ugly Americans are still living up to their nics. Tongue in cheek. They really are ugly... hello everyone.

becky said...

Yes, she does. I laughed out loud when she said that. Hey, Jackie, how do you feel?

becky said...

slulehuhjaekdjk. Understand that? LOL

becky said...

Hi, Monty. Chicken?

monty924 said...

How is three legs in China fair to the other teams who don't speak Chinese?????

Delee said...

I made Shepards Pie yummy. I have some to share.

Hi Monty!
Good one Jackie, at least we know where the title of the show came from!

Delee said...

OMG U Turn the redheads, they would have to try and use Mandarin, greatest moment in AR history if so!!! HAHAHA

monty924 said...

Ouch!

Delee said...

There has only been one fast forward maybe 2 this season...

Jackie S. said...

Victor and Tammy u-turned Jen and Kisha!

becky said...

Grasshopper anyone?

monty924 said...

Ewww, I would not be able to hold that stuff down. Yuck!

monty924 said...

TAR meets Fear Factor, gross.

Delee said...

Time to eat disgusting things...

grasshoppers, scorpions, starfish and beetle larva glad not me!

becky said...

Just wait until the cheerleaders get to the "parts" that one will have to eat. ROFWMP

Delee said...

I know can not wait and to hear the comments from them!!! Also I think the cabs take them the wrong places because they act so superior...

Delee said...

ALso doesn't everything taste better deep fried? HAHA

becky said...

What team are the cheerleaders for -- and will they let them come back?

monty924 said...

I have to agree that it would have been hilarious to see Jaime and Kara try to make sense out of those orders. That would have made me literally roll in the floor laughing.

becky said...

LOL Victor has a great attitude. "I didn't eat breakfast." Good for him.

Delee said...

YEA T/V 1st and a fantastic trip too boot!

becky said...

Delee, you HAVE to be from the South! LOLOLOL Wonder if they fry it in bacon grease?

Delee said...

LOL no Becky lived in AL 12 yrs, but a PA girl...never have had deep fried twinkie or snickers...

Anonymous said...

I hope Jen and Kiesha make it to the pit stop before Jaime and Kara. Cheerleaders do have a superiority complex. Looks like the sisters have the edge now even with being detoured.

Delee said...

WOW a "thank you" from the redheads...amazing!

monty924 said...

OMG, I would have just pee'd on myself! D U M B

Delee said...

OMGoodness a pee stop knocked the sisters out...I would have peed myself, how stupid!

becky said...

For a million dollars there would be a stream from the cab to Phil. That is the most expensive pee ever.

Delee said...

Stupid Stupid Stupid, I can not believe that...

Off for C Apprentice, have a wonderful rest of the evening all!

Sydney said...

DO NOT PEE and lose a million dolla!!!

becky said...

I just am amazed that she stopped to go to the bathroom! D-U-M-B!

Anonymous said...

She shoulda just peed on herself for a million dollars! I wanted to see the cheerleaders go but that younger sister just blew it and handed it to Jaime and Kara on a silver platter. Darn!

Sydney said...

My husband wants the redheads to win of the three of them. He thinks Vitor and sis have been too conniving... telling everyone in Chinese to do their stuff first, put them at the front of the plane and everyone else at back, and detouring the sisters for no reason. I say that's gameplay but...

Don't want any to win but I'd pick VIctor and Tammy.

joy n said...

I'm rooting for Tammy and Victor.

Anonymous said...

Sydney, I don't want Tammy and Victor to walk away with the win because it was too easy for them in China. I don't like that TAR chose them, obviously on purpose, for the China leg of the trip.

I think Margie and Luke would have used the same techniques as T & V if they had spoken the language, and we have heard teams do as bad or worst in the past. In those episodes the other teams knew what was being said about them and that is different with Tammy and Victor.

I cannot support the mean cheerleader, but her partner seems a little better. They should have been eliminated tonight and it was only because Jen and K gave it to them that they placed third.

I didn't like J and K behavior during some of the race, but they completed an extra task and still could have beat the lost cheerleaders. That doesn't make J & K better players, but it makes the cheerleaders pretty bad. And, when they were given directions by those on the street, they argued with the people instead of listening.

Do you think the cheerleaders would have done anything sneaky to win if they had the opportunity?

Anonymous said...

The theme of this TAR must be communication.

T & V who speak the language in China.

Luke, who communicate by signing

Cheerleaders who are lost in translation

Were they all picked for their communication skills?

Laurie said...

Zizzle, Lost in Translation made me spit my tea out. That was a good one!

The show is half over her in the west coast. I'm bummed about how it ends. I really wanted the redheads to go home.

meb said...

I guess you could say the sisters pissed away a million dollars. Unbelievable!

Anonymous said...

meb, why didn't I think of that ?!!

Perfect explanation. I bet someone gives her a porta potty charm to remember the race by.

Laurie said...

Good one, meb.

Finding restrooms is not something they usually show but it must be an issue sometimes during the race, don't you think? I have this issue just traveling on a regular vacation! I wonder if next season we'll see people with Depends in their bags? That was one pricey pee break.

Delee said...

I worried about that in Ireland, but luckily they now have gas-convenience type stores. I remember in England/Scotland and Wales in the early 80's sometimes a tree was your best friend.

Great one Meb, I did not think about that either.

Margo said...

********TAR POOL UPDATE*********

Well we are down to the final 3. I pick Tammy & Victor to win it all. They really have been communicating way better since their mountain hike. They cheer the other one on - not yelling Hurry Up. Looks like next week that all changes - but I REALLY don't like the way the redheads have behaved as ambassadors of our fair country. They just show the world the ugly American stereotype. And I think Luke has a lot of growing up still to do. His Mom is doing him no favors by overprotecting him.

LaKisha & Jennifer, KarenJC & Patti I'm sorry to have to tell you that potty break just cost you 1 million dollars.

Cara & Jaime – Nana in NW, Monty924 & Donna in AL
Tammy & Victor – Rbennie & Delee & Dusty
Margie & Luke – PDX Granny & Jeannemarie

Jennifer & Preston – Donna in FL, Karen & Leslie
Linda & Steve – Laurie, Nomad & Margo
Brad & Victoria – Rozee & ORKMommy
Amanda & Kris – Caroline, Sizzie & Lynn1
Christie & Jodi – Zoetawny & SueGee
Mel & Mike – Jackie & Becky
Mark & Michael – Sydney, Jennasmom & MEB
LaKisha & Jennifer – KarenJC & Patti

See you next week in Hawaii. Aloha!

'The Amazing Race' recap: Urine It to Win It BEST HEADLINE YET

Anonymous said...

I agree with those who said that this extra long leg in China was a big help to give an edge to Victor and Tammy. I happen to like the redheads and want Margie and Luke to win. I think the one redhead is biatch but the other one is pretty nice and they haven't screwed anyone over which can't be said about t&v. I love Margie and Luke and think the fact they have an extra step in communicating they have shown far greater strength then any other team. GO LUKE and Margie!

I assume from the last comments posted, you know that our dear friend Sharon passed away. We, who knew her here on Jackies blog remember her wit as well as her zest for life. She always had a nice word for everyone and she will be sadly missed.

For those of you who would be interested, her memorial service will be tomorrow at 11:00 EST and a few of us have decided to be here at that time, since we can't be at the actual service.

Jackie, if you see this soon enough, perhaps you could give us a separate post for Sharon. But if not, we'll be right here on the TAR posting.

Those of you who didn't know Sharon, we hope you will understand and will allow us this space to say goodbye to an old friend.

Repeating joyn...

Rest in peace Sharon, you will be missed!

Sorry to read of Sharon's passing. My thoughts and prayers of peace to Sharon, her family and everyone here who obviously loved her.

Peace.

I'm sorry to hear of Sharon's death. She added a lot to Jackie's blog.
May God bless her family during this time of sorrow.

IF anyone would like to visit Sharon's guest book online to leave a comment, here is the address. Her husband Don knows now that she had a whole other life commenting here on the TV shows we watch, and didn't have a clue that we all might care enough to find who she was and where she lived when she suddenly stopped posting. Jackie's really is a special blog!

Sharon...you will be missed. We so enjoyed your comments as we watched the shows we mutually enjoyed. I offer you the following poem because we know you are still with us in spirit. God Loves You!

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep by Mary Elizabeth Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!)

Rest safely Sharon in God's loving arms.

As a relatively newcomer to this blog I only knew Sharon for a short time. However, she was such an open and friendly person that she was one of the first people I felt connected to. I enjoyed her wit and her kindness.

I was very sad to hear of her passing and felt we all lost someone very special. I know she is now free from all that plagued her in the past year and that is comforting. My heart is with her family and friends who will miss such a sweet spirit.

The beautiful hibiscus will always make me think of her!

Caroline said...

My thoughts and prayers go out to Sharon and her family today. I was more of a lurker than a poster when Sharon was active on the blog but I definitely recall her sense of humor and her wonderful spirit. We can all take comfort in knowing that even though we lost a lovely person, she is no longer in any pain.

R.I.P. Sharon, You will be missed!

meb said...

Sydney, thanks for posting the link to Sharon's guest book. I remember Don saying that he wasn't all that computer literate, so I wonder if he even knows that is available.

We miss your presence, your humor and wit, and your thoughtful contribution in commenting on this blog. You will always be with us.

May your family find peace in this challenging time.

Thoughts of you throughout this day, and as we all move forward.

Several of us are contributing to a fund in Sharon's memory. We are going to send one larger check along with a card from her friends at Jackie's blog.

If you are interested in contributing to this fund, please email me at laurie1109@yahoo.com with the words "memorial fund" in the title and I will give you more information.

I am slipping in here on a bench toward the back of the room. I'll just sit a while and think of Sharon and how she liked being at Jackie's. Her friends today are bringing a bouquet of Hibiscus in her memory. She wrote, once, that she loved them and had them in her home garden, even while she knew the climate wasn't perfect for them.

I found this quote, written by Gilda Radner. She knew illness and still found a way to make people feel good. That is what I remember about Sharon, that she championed us and our right to opinions.

"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity." by Gilda Radner

Goodbye, Sharon, and God Speed. Sue

Look at ALL these pretty flowers! You all are such thoughtful people!

Meb, I know he said Sharon's sons are, and I imagine that whomever set it up must know. She has a sister that I think would love to know about us too... So when I call Don -- I've been waiting 'til tomorrow or the next day -- I will mention it.

Here too is her blog profile. She never posted anything on her actual blog, but for those who would like to stop by:

In honor of Sharon and to let you know who she was in her own words, I'm reposting something Sharon wrote in a blog we had for awhile. We were introducing ourselves to each other and this is what she chose to say to us just a year ago:

Hey Gang.......it's me,"just" Sharon. I'm so lovin' this idea!

I am 60,live just west of Cleveland,OH,have been married for almost 32 years. We have two boys,Jeff is 30 and Eric is about to turn 29. They were 16 months apart, and the oldest was hyperactive,so they gave me plenty to keep me busy when they were little. The youngest is married and an architect and the older son is divorced and living back home with us! No grandbabies(sigh)as of yet,my DIL is a cancer survivor from luekemia of 12 years now.

I've pretty much lived in this area for most of my life(gotta love those Ohio winters)and did most of my moving around before I can remember it. I was born in Galveston,TX,moved to TN and then on to Ohio and here I remain. I have done some traveling in my life. Right out of H.S.,I was in the All Ohio Youth Choir, sang at the State Fair one summer and toured Europe with them the next. I,too, loved Ireland as one of you said and would give almost anything to go back there. It and Switzerland were so beautiful.

So much has been said about losing weight here as of late. Well I must be the Queen of losing weight and a morality tale, all rolled into one. From puberty on,I was a chubette, and it drove my mother wild. She was always on me about it. So after she passed away in '71 and my weight bloomed to over 250,I had gastric by-pass surgery. Now this was in the very early stages of them doing them.In '73,had the surgery, and long story short, lost about 120 pounds and kinda leveled off. I had my children, worked and did pretty well. Then in about '94,things started changing. I started losing alot of weight, and had terrible stomach problems. I thought I looked smokin',I was smaller than ever in my life and my family and friends thought I looked like death warmed over!! In April of '96,I got very sick, swelling up,couldn't walk and I turned yellow. I was immeadiately sent to the Cleveland Clinic, told matter of factly that I would need a liver transplant and the whole nightmare began. First, had to "qualify" to even be eligable to have the transplant and then spent almost three months of the doctors trying to get me well enough to have it.August 6,1996,I got my new liver and here I am,almost 12 years later, alive and kicking. It was a long ,hard road and brutal at times, but I got to see both my boys graduate from H.S.,one from college, they both married and I'm still hanging in there. Needless to say,my surgeon insisted the by-pass had to go and six months after my transplant, they reconnected it and I am a fatty again today.I've just in this last week, joined a gym and weight loss program nearby and I'm trying to take control of my weight in a different way. I've been very lazy about it and I need to do this for myself NOW!

I have to tell you about my "beebies",then I'll shut up. We have a short legged beagle,Molly who is about 13 and getting whiter by the minute. She was rescued by my sister many years ago,and when she had eight puppies, they were going to keep a puppy and get rid of Molly. We just had put our dog,Wicket,to sleep after having him for 12 years and so,we took Molly. We love her to pieces and it will be heart breaking when she goes.We also have three cats, two sisters, Sadie and Zoe,who are about 5 yrs old and a little one,Kat(arina),who is 2,and the other two hate her with a passion. She is a Russian Blue and showed up on our doorstep one day and she stayed. She is a hoot and a half.a real live wire and the apple of my hubby's eye.

I don't know how to change my avatar to honor Sharon with a picture of Hibiscus, but I hope her heavenly home is filled with them.
I do want to say again that Sharon touched all of our lives in a positive manner. She will continue to remain in our hearts and thoughts.
May God give her family peace. In time may their sweet memories of Sharon bring them comfort.

Although I didn't know Sharon quite as long as some of you guys, I have fond memories of her and how at home she always made me feel at Jackie's. Her comments were always upbeat and witty. We had a lot of the same opinions on all sorts of topics. My sympathy and prayers go out to her husband, Don, her 2 sons, and all of her family and friends. I have so enjoyed going back and reading Sharon's past comments. They brought a smile to my face, even on this sad day. Rest well in Heaven Sharon.

Thanks Syd...

I remember going to her blog several times in hopes she would post something, but just her profile would appear.

Fly with the angels, Sharon. See you when we get there. I will be the one with all the Beagles.

You will be missed.

Sydney said...

I know that PDX Granny and Jennasmom wanted to be here and wrote in to say they are in spirit. PDX is at work without the ability to access Jackie's and Jennasmom is on the road. I'm sure they will post at some point when they are able.

becky said...

One of my favorite hymns is When We All Get to Heaven" (what a day of rejoicing that will be). We know that, as sad as Sharon was to leave her husband, boys family and friends behind, she is rejoicing and singing is the most wonderful choir there is.

meb said...

I think nana in the nw also said she'd be on the road but would remember we're all here at the given time.

meb said...

Becky, when you mentioned you'd be the one with all the Beagles, you immediately reminded me of Rainbow Bridge.

I'm sure her precious Wicket was there at the bridge to greet Sharon when she got there, (as well as any other loved animals who went home before her). What a wonderful reunion that must have been.

Hi All --

I just called Sharon's house to leave a message for her family that her online friends at Jackie's blog were holding a vigil here during the same time that the funeral was going on. I told him that lots of people were commenting and holding Sharon and the family in our thoughts right now. I mentioned the hibiscus flowers and that several people had commented on the memorial guest book, as I wanted to make sure they would check when they were ready to.

The odd thing is that a cheerful, energetic woman's voice left the outgoing message, and I was sure it was Sharon's... it was of course a mixture of delight to hear her for the first time (she sounded just like her posts) and to also know that she is not here anymore. It's a amazing that we have devices to preserve us... no longer just letters and writing, but pictures, videos and voicemail...

Nana in the NEW said...

Hello all--I was not able to join you at the Memorial but wanted to say Sharon was one of the first people I felt I got to know here at Jackie's. Her humor and positive outlook was always good. I will always remember her every time I see a hibiscus. Thank you to Laurie for taking charge of donations and Sydney for getting everyone on board with this posting.

Margo said...

Sorry I am late. What a lovely memorial service. I'm sure Sharon was watching with a smile on her face.

Nana in the NW said...

Oops!! And of course, thank to Jackie for providing us with a place to honor Sharon. If it wasn't for you we wouldn't have even had the chance to have her in our lives!! I just remember her comments about having a liver transplant gave her an extra 11 years of life and how grateful she was for them. With that thought it makes her passing not so sad....especially having the opportunity to talk to her husband and know how ill she has been these past 6 months. It is always a good thing when a person becomes free of pain and suffering.

joy n said...

I haven't even figured out how to put any pic next to my name yet. Else, I'd also have an hibiscus to join all of yours.

Meb, thank you for printing out that lovely poem.

Laurie, I was so touched that you took a few moments to type out Sharon's words to remind us all again why we cared so much about her.

joy n said...

And Sydney, thanks for the links and updates and emails. You're a bit of an angel, yourself.

Donna in Alabama said...

I was here with you guys at 11 today in spirit as I can no longer log on at work.

I remember Sharon's comments so well. She was great person and I rejoice in that she is not in pain anymore.

I am sure she is having a great reunion with her mom and others that were there waiting for her.

My thoughts and prayers go out for her husband, two sons, daughter-in-law, her father and siblings and friends in their time of grief.

I left them a message at the online guest book and have sent a contribution to Laurie.

Thank you Jackie for making a safe place on the net to meet such a wonderful group of people. Thank you Laurie for agreeing to be our treasurer and to Sydney for being the link that Don reached out to.

Sharon, you will always be remembered here, missed dearly and my you rest in peace.
