Off Topic: That Was the Week It Was - August 5, 2012

Happy Sunday morning, world! If you're looking for Big Brother live feeds content, those posts can be found at this link right here. I posted one late last night and another will be posted later this morning. This post is my weekly off television topic reflection on the week gone by in both words and photographs I've taken. If you're here for the show, you may feel free to stay and read this ... or not.

Once again we had an incredibly uncomfortable weather week here in Plainfield, NJ. Humid, hot, sticky, rainy, stormy and just bleh! I'm SO not a fan of hot and humid weather. I hate standing still in the shade yet sweating profusely. And, no. I don't glow. I sweat. Wah! Although, I'll admit, I do enjoy a cool thunderstorm as long as I'm not caught out in it and my power remains on.

On the home front, I mentioned a week or two ago that it probably wouldn't be long before someone stole the video cameras the new landlord put at the entrances. Welp, the one from the side entrance went missing Thursday sometime between the time I left for work and returned home. The front door one is still there and I didn't bother checking the back door. I hope the jerk who stole it didn't realize it's being filmed in a locked room in the basement. I blame the riff-raff from the front section of the building.

In between going a bit bonkers between work and the BB14 live feeds reports on the blog, I've been going over my photos to submit for the Plainfield Library Photo Contest. You can submit five and I have a pretty solid four chosen so far. It's not the easiest theme for me -- Plainfield, Dining In or Dining Out. I see so many cool restaurant shots I could take through windows. But I don't want people to think I'm a creeper.

I think this weather is putting a damper on my photo taking inspiration. I didn't get many shots that I really thought were good this week. Here's the best of the ones I took:

On a fallen limb
On a limb

Although many limbs are still down from a storm the previous week, I believe this one on the lawn of the Plainfield Quaker Meeting House was actually cut.

More flowers!
Up close and personal

Yes, there was rain. Sigh.

Big Brother 14: Live Feeds Into Saturday Evening - Aug. 4

Got snacks?

Hey, what's new in the house?

So, what's the scoop from inside that Big Brother House of Characters in Costume? Read on ...
  • Boogie remains miserable and is basically alienating himself from everyone in the house except his bro-buddy Frank.
  • Too bad, so sad.
  • Wil, who has all but burned his bridges with Janelle, did turn to Boogie to squirm his way in there.
  • But no one really trusts Wil now.
  • When Boogie loses Frank at his side, he'll probably use Wil.
  • Boogie's a loser user!
  • Meanwhile, Janelle is trying to do her own damage control with Wil. She told him that if Frank doesn't go home this week, people aren't being truthful with her.
  • Janelle told Wil she was "shocked" that he went up on the block.
  • The coaches are aware (well, maybe not Boogie) that Joe is stirring up a revolution against them.
  • Boogie is in too much of a woe is me persona to care that others are playing the game.
  • Boogie did try to talk to Danielle. She told him the nominations were hers, not to blame Dan.
  • She led him on enough for him to run back to Frank all excited about the chance to work with her. @@
  • Danielle is really surprising me as of late.
  • Of course, Boogie's worried that he'll go on the block as a replacement if someone uses the PoV.
  • Boogie doesn't think Danielle is "tight" with Britney.
  • She is.
  • She's tighter with Dan, but we all know that.
  • Frank sucked up to Dan and Danielle.
  • Too little, too late.
  • Frank said he was only joking when he talked about going after Janelle.
  • Backpedaling a lot there, kid!
  • But that's one Danielle is NOT tight with -- Janelle.
  • Even Jenn is distancing herself some from Boogie and Frank. She says all they care about is each other.
  • Maybe it's true love since Dr. Will moved on with his life leaving Boogie on the wayside like roadkill.
  • Adding to his misery, Boogie didn't even get picked to play for PoV.
  • Doesn't it just tug at your heartstrings?
  • Heh.
  • The PoV was one in which they had the alternate prizes.
  • Danielle won the PoV itself.
  • Did I mention she's surprising me of late?
  • Shane got a PoV pass to play in the next PoV.
  • Frank got a Spiritard -- sort of a cheerleader unitard.
  • Remember, usually the person in the unitard tends to get voted out and faces Julie wearing it (or a banana suit, or ...)
  • Ian took on 24 hours as a dog so that Jenn got a trip to Hawaii.
  • Ian has to wear a dog suit, drink out of a bowl, use no utensils to eat, sleep in a doghouse in the yard, be led around on a leash, etc.
  • He's taking it all in fun.
  • Dan wants him to do tricks for treats.
  • And that's where we stand.

Big Brother 14: PoV Comp Results - Aug. 4

Oh my. I'm shocked. Danielle won the Power of Veto.

A full report on the day's activities will be up here later tonight.

Big Brother 14: Live Feeds Into Saturday Morning - Aug. 4

Like an unruly sheepdog

Well, on the whole, to give this season some credit ... it's more interesting at more times than was last season. I recall Adam and the bunch boring me to tears (okay, an exaggeration) last season for days on end. This group has some boring times, but it's already had more entertaining and dramatic times than did all of last season.

Here's the latest from inside that Big Brother House of Bitter Boogie Down:
  • Boogie spoke to Dan FOREVER in the storage room about how betrayed he feels.
  • Just because HE (Boogie) wants his best bud Frank around, he can't understand why everyone else doesn't.
  • BB gave them six beers and a bottle of wine again.
  • Now there are several abstaining because it's really not worth it to drink a single beer, pointless.
  • Ian, who's been a Have Not all along, did drink. He even got a slight buzz on.
  • Of course, he only weighs 115 pounds.
  • Due to the endurance comp (most likely), they didn't have a food comp. There are no Have Nots this week.
  • As Dan tried to push a coach alliance bit on Boogie, Boogie sneered. He doesn't want to work with liars like Janelle! He needs his bromance boy Frank!
  • Boogie is sure the Diary Room is upset about his attitude.
  • I myself find it funny. It's knocked him down several pegs and reminded me again that it was always Dr. Will, not Boogie, who was solidly entertaining.
  • Wil fussed to several that Danielle promised him he was safe before he jumped in the HoH comp.
  • Danielle, after the comp, told Dan all she said was that he "was good."
  • Semantics.
  • Boogie ran to Frank telling him all about Dan talking a coach alliance.
  • Meanwhile, Joe, out at the hot tub, talked about getting the coaches out for a chance to win.
  • Janelle spent a long long time bonding with Danielle.
  • Hmm.
  • The PoV comp will be later today. This could be interesting (although it is indeed blocked to the live feeds).

Big Brother 14: Live Feeds Friday Evening - Aug. 3

On the block yet again!

What's the latest from inside that Big Brother House of Foolish Flunkies? Read on ...
  • As expected, Danielle followed Dan's advice and put Wil and Frank on the block.
  • Her real target is Frank.
  • There won't be anything happening to make this nomination null and void.
  • Well, that is, unless the Power of Veto saves him.
  • In the pre-nom talks, Joe once again promised the world. He also said he owes Shane a huge favor.
  • I say he's just lucky he's not on the block again.
  • Even when he's not shouting, he's just overbearing.
  • Wil and Jenn talked about Ian's gameplay, saying "he's such a fan" as if that would be derogatory.
  • I'd say I'd rather a show fan in the house than a woman who was recruited because of her Facebook profile and tattoos knowing nothing about the show.
  • Janelle and, to a lesser extent, Britney, tried to get Danielle to put up two pawns and then backdoor Frank.
  • But Danielle seriously thinks that if she puts two people she wants to go home on the block, one will definitely go.
  • Janelle pointed out to Britney that if any of the coaches want a chance to win, the coaches have to last until they go to jury for the votes.
  • Boogie is STILL mad that last week's plan was to evict Frank and no one told him.
  • Sheesh. Like that would have been a smart idea!
  • Dan has lost faith in Ian. Despite his attempts to bring Ian aboard, Ian ran to Boogie.
  • Boogie's also upset his key came out last in nominations as well as his main dude (Frank) nominated.
  • Boogie thinks Dan wants to get him evicted for the street cred factor.
  • Actually, Dan did tell Danielle if the veto is used to save Wil, Boogie should go on the block.
  • Danielle doesn't really want to put Boogie on the block for some reason.
  • Boogie is a very unhappy camper.
  • Oh. Poor Boogie.
  • Janelle thinks Boogie has a fixation with men and can't work with women. She said that Boogie and Frank have a definite bromance.
  • Boogie doesn't want to budge from his grudge against Dan for the Frank plan.
  • Chilltown ain't so cool these days.

Maybe if I click my heels three times ...
