TV Newsy Bits - Monday, April 9, 2007

Jackie's TV Newsy Bits I hope everyone had a pleasant holiday weekend although it certainly feels more like a winter holiday in many areas! It was cold and snow squalls here, but the snow just came down fast and furious without sticking to the ground.

Here are today's TV Newsy Bits:

  • Buddy TV has an interview with Uchenna and Joyce, the latest team eliminated from The Amazing Race 11: All Stars. What I found interesting is that they did have to do the Detour and Roadblock -- it just wasn't shown. They ended up 10 hours behind the last team and spoke highly of Dustin and Kandice.
  • Finale dates have been announced for The Amazing Race 11: All Stars (Sunday, May 6) - an hour-long show and Survivor 14: Fiji (Sunday, May 13) - a two-hour finale followed by the reunion show. Crunching the numbers, it looks like Survivor will go for three finalists once again this season.
  • The current ratings for American Idol are down 10%, Could it be the Sanjaya Universe?
  • It seems that The Black Donnellys has been canceled. There are still five or six (dependent on what articles you read) un-aired episodes and rumors have it that they may end up being available on the NBC website. According to the article I linked here, other shows in danger include: Jericho and Friday Night Lights. The article provides addresses to write to in support of those shows. Men in Trees, Ugly Betty, and Brothers & Sisters have been renewed for another season.

Black D...I had not heard that, but I am taping for the time slot and something else is on. :(

I awoke to 3 inches of snow, Sunday morning....will a real spring ever appear?

Thanks for the article Jackie -- we are definitely writing or calling about Friday Night Lights.

BTW, even here in Southern TX where it had been totally spring like on Thurs and friday -- bright sun, chrisp cool temps, flowers and trees and grass fresh and budding... and it rained all Saturday, dropping to 39 degrees at night, never made it above 50 on Easter Sunday... really icy chill in the air even for that temp... I had to pull my down jacket and hat with flaps out of the closet again.

New Black Donnellys episodes are available on the NBC site each Monday at 9, and on iTunes on each Tuesday. :o)

Hey Lyss- I totally agree with you re: FNL. Kyle IS quite good to look at ( I had never seen him before, then saw a rerun of the last King Kong movie on TV... Kyle plays such an opposite character in that... a spinelsss prettyboy actor near the turn of the century). But I really enjoy watching his marriage,a nd how he and his equally hot/realistic wife deal with parenting and their own communication. It's the real deal. We're calling and writing today too!

Kyle was also in CBS's "Early Edition" from 1996-2000. He would receive a newspaper with the next day's news and try to right the wrongs from the current day. Was a good show and lasted 4 yrs, guess better than most!

I do not know how many times a great show gets the axe! That is why I sometimes hold off watching a new show until it gets renewed. That way I avoid anger at the cancellation. They gave 7th Heaven one more shot, now that is gone for next season. Good, clean wholesome shows just go poof. Reality shows are cheaper to produce, but we need to admit it...we are rabit fans. All comes down to the bottom line.
