Graphic artist Zoetawny has made me yet another tag for the show. She rocks, right?
To bring up all of the show posts on this blog, simply use the 'Big Brother 8' label tag you find on the bottom of any show post. I've posted lots o' news already and I'm still scouting for more as the premiere looms on the horizon.
Before I tell you the latest, I want to give a shout-out to the folks at JokersUpdates, Hamsterwatch, and the other fine sites covering the show. I haven't had any "inside connections" to the show since my producer buddy Jym Buss left after season 6, but through the wonders of the Internet, I always have news to share!
Here's the latest buzz from the Internet Fans:
- A poster over at Jokers found an article about houseguest Jessica Hughbanks. It turns out she's a dancer for Wichita Thunder (hockey) and, if you're a fan of So You Think You Can Dance, you know her dancing idol -- Shane Sparks. There's not a heck of a lot of insight, but it's certainly worth a peek. She doesn't like rude people, huh? What's she doing going into the Big Brother house?
- Rumors are all over the web about the America's Player person being male. I think it all stems from Julie and Allison Grodner always referring to the person as "he." That could be just semantics, but I don't think we'll know for sure until next Sunday night.
- Jokers also has a Wichita Eagle blurb about houseguest Carol Journey. She had to forego her first season as a Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader to be on Big Brother.
- You can't get enough show news? The best link sites are Reality TV Links and SirLinksAlot, both set for their Big Brother links. Oh, and is that this blog listed on them both? :-)
- The Entertainment Tonight house tour is scheduled for Monday, July 2. Check your local listings for times in your area.
- Not new season related, but interesting nonetheless -- BB Lane has a recent interview with Season 1 winner Eddie McGee. It really makes you stop and think... eight years ago this all started. It's definitely changed my summers! That first year I was a board host on the AOL Message Boards for the show and they were hopping as AOL was a partner in the show. Big Brother 1 had input from the boards featured on the show each week and the live feeds were through AOL, too. Ah, the memories of the Chicken Coop cam... and the one which was behind the walls with the crew! That would be cool if they brought that camera back!
- An Oregon online newspaper, the Register-Guard, has an article about new houseguest Kail Harbick.
- The Kansas City Star has a blurb about new houseguests Carol and Jessica, but no insight.
- It seems to be real, but I can't say... someone claiming to be houseguest Carol's father has posted about her over at Jokers. Now, that can present a dilemma. Right now all is safe, but things can get rough as the season goes on. It may be hard for a parent to read what the Internet thinks of his beloved child. Eep. That said, it sounds like she's a smart one. We'll see how she does!
- The WeLoveBigBrother site has more house photos online.
- I found the YouTube clip of Julie Chen's appearance on Letterman. They've disabled embedding the clip here, but this is the link.

I looked at the CBS website and it says that on July 5 the players will find out they will be in the house with an enemy or rival. If they already have the players on the website, couldn't they just look and see who is going to be in the house so they would be prepared ahead of time?

Not to be picky, Jackie, but someone I forwarded this entry to informs me that it was not eight but SEVEN years ago that this all started (this is BB8 so if you count back to 1 it's 7 years) & she knows coz that's when her son was born & she was afraid of missing BB & she has it all on video tape LOL

I'm so glad you are continuing to blog BB. I think I enjoyed your blog last summer more than the show....well, maybe not. I will particularly miss Dr. Will this year...there is just something charismatic about that man! What a player! I look forward to your insights for the new season. Thank you for all the work you do!
Anon @ 8:37 - I believe they went into the house today - they had been being held in sequester and not allowed to mingle, use computers, phones, etc. in a hotel room while they filmed the promos for the show. They will actually see each other before July 5, but the show does that so they can film the premiere. The feeds won't be live until after Thursday's show.
Aunt Lisa - We're entering the 8th year. It's semantics. ;-) And, no... I had been hosting boards and chats on AOL for several years at that point. They had more than 50 of us behind the scenes on the board, though. It was wild!
More than 50 of you on the ONE BOARD, or all of them?
I heard that BB board was a wild one, perhaps even worse than the Survivor board with all the wars.

AuntLisa - It was a container of boards for the show -- main board, houseguests by individual folder. But at times the posts came in per second.
As for control here, not always. We get a few trolls and I recall times last season when I was getting more than 300-400 comments a day. I know I wasn't able to stop all hurt feelings with some fighting amongst the commenters. Generally, the crowd here is great, though -- respectful of others on board, yet free to voice their opinions of the houseguests.
A good (GREAT) board/blog host helps too. We used to think you were too tough but then we realized how effective & nice you were.
Now that I figured out how to post here maybe I'll start paying more attention to the comments.

http://www.realityminute.com BUT READ THIS! Coded letters from home? Could this be true and did it play into Big Brother 8 game play for Evil Dick this season? This week we talk about how it was done. Well Zac has won HOH twice and POV twice in the last few weeks so I guess if anyone is sending one of the Denato's home it could be him. The sleeping dog has awoke to play the last few weeks of Big Brother 8! If D and D win this weeks POV one of them wins Big Brother 8 and Zac floats his way to second place if he loses the final HOH.
