'Big Brother 8' - Live Feeds Report - POV and More

Jackie's TV Blog, BB8, Big Brother 8

As we guessed, the Power of Veto comp (featuring Janelle) was blocked to the feeds.

But we do know the results. The winner of the overnight comp was yet another blonde, but by no means can she be called buxom.

The new Power of Veto holder is Daniele.

Here's the rest of the news:
  • Zach mentioned to Dick that he found it odd that Eric took the phone call offer (which he handed off to Jessica) instead of trying for HOH. (Eric said he hurt himself in a fall right at the start and was so far behind, I think it made sense for him. He knew he wouldn't win.)
  • Jessica and Eric think that Dick and Daniele have/will betray them.
  • At about midnight their time, the feeds were blocked and didn't return until nearly 3:30 AM.
  • Jessica is very upset that Daniele won. She told Eric that Daniele already told her that she wouldn't use it. (To me, that sounds like a good thing and right if they follow through with the Jameka eviction plan. I think Jessica thinks she's going home, but it would be worse for them if she saved Jessica and Zach put Eric or Dick on the block.)
  • Daniele thinks Janelle loves her and doesn't like Eric.
  • Dick said Janelle told him he looks hot.
  • Zach tried telling Dick that keeping Jameka and sending Jessica home may be a better way to go. No commitment from Dick on that thought.
  • Jessica mentioned she liked HOLLY. Argh, the voices, the voices!
  • There's where we stand. I don't know if the POV Ceremony will be held on Monday or whether it might be earlier. The HG still have no clue it's a double eviction week looming ahead.

I'll be curious to see if they show Janelle letting the HG know what she thinks of them. LOL!!! Could present some new stir ups in the house. Can't wait to see Janelle tomorrow!

WhooHoo...that suits me just fine.
We are going to have a final four battle royale.

In a senior's house, a comp for me would be : "In which room did you leave your glasses?"

Riseandshine - I was thinking of walker races.

lol Jackie, up ramps and down ramps, that would work.

In a "seniors" house, they would need more bathrooms!!!

Jackie, Good morning and thanks for the update, as usual I enjoyed getting the skinny from your point of view.

ROTF riseandshine, since I need my glasses for distance they are usually on my face but I can see how that may be a good comp. Thanks for the input.

LOL Jackie, I'm not that old and I doubt Nana in the NW is either!!

I hope they stick with the plan of getting Jameka out this week, first. Then Jessica needs to go, she has no enemies either. Since Eric can't win a comp and whines like a baby when he loses, he should be third out. Leaving Zach, Daniele and Dick to battle for money. I can dream Zach won, but I'd be ok with Dick winning, so sorry Dani.

Here's my Senior BB comp idea:

Pass a driving test with remote control cars! The last one with an intact car wins!

I am SOOOOO signing my mother up for this!

I'm amazed that these students of the show have forgotten at this point that a double eviction is coming. A week -2 weeks back Dick said one thing only (so far as I'm aware): we have 7 players and a3 weeks left to go... or something ot that effect. But have I missed something or has no one been talking about double evictions in their whispered strategy sessions?

I actually watched soem of housecalls for the first time ever to see what Janelle had to say, and she likes Dani and Dick best.

Riseandshine -- re: 8:42-- I compete in that senior comp on a daily basis! Do we lose points for the times they are actually still on our head?

Anon 8:57, lol, they WOULD need more. And Seniors sleep FAR less

Just when I thought Zack was a genius, based on his nominations, he goes and shows his true colors...blind loyalty to Dick.

Clearly, he must be Dick's son. He is waaaaaaaaay too trusting of someone in this BB game of deceit.

It makes sense for Dick to oust Jessica to break up E/J. It makes little sense for Zack to make a deal with Dick to oust Jessica unless he completely and totally trusts Dick.

Zack is in a perfect position as the swing vote regardless of who wins the HOH next week.

He automatically wins a place in the final 3 by teaming up with either D/D or E/J next week. He wouldn't be the target as the pairs will be trying to break each other up.

If Jess goes home, with Jameeka around and only one strong pair left, Zack is in a worse position. D/D wouldn't necessarily need him to get to the final 3, since they could work with any of the 3 left (and don't think Eric wouldn't work with them, he'd be desperate for friends.)

Worse, for Zack, is that only Eric or D/D could be HOH next week. If D/D win HOH, they have to ask themselves who they want to be opposite in Final 2 and who they would have an easier time beating in comps in the Final 4. I'm not sure Zack is the choice in either case.

Now, if Eric were to win HOH, he could put up D/D. But that leaves him in a weak alliance with Jameeka and Zack. And Eric must know that Zack is close to D/D.

I know it seems a little counter-intuitive, but Zack is in better position with the two couples than with breaking one of them up (in my ever humble opinion).

XOXOXO to Teri in Ohio!

Joe - I just don't get the fascination Zach has with D/D. He completely trusts them and thinks that one of them will take him to the final 2. He's not dumb, he's just totally blind when it comes to them. I read a conversation from last night where Zach asked Dani if she was a natural blond. Dani said yes, she's blessed. Has he not noticed her 2 inch brown roots? He just believes her because she says it's so. If she told him the sky was green and the grass is blue, he would believe her!

I'm pretty disappointed in Zach at this point!

It looks to be a showdown between D&D and E&J.

Joe, I'm totally rooting for you to join next season. WE'LL babysit your doggie.

Question: If there's going to be a DE this week, let alone in the same day, do you think anyone has thought the things in your last post thru enough to reflect them when in a position to suddenly nominate/ vote out another person as a surprise?

I seem to remember the DE in All Stars as happening one right after another... don't remember the details, just know that it was a terribly important strategic decison this late in the game, and they gave Janelle 3 minutes to decide who to put up.... she raced into the bedroom and looked to Will for advice, shaking all the while. If they are the king and queen of BB history and were fluxummoned, imagine this group.

Dick on the whole seemed to be the only one thinking in advance, and Dani used to whine about that, but she's been thinking ahead a little more... not sure how far though. And Eric seemed capable but was always forced to using up his skill putting out some fire or having to smoothly enact some dicey stuff as AP...and now his focus is on Jess. Do you think anyone is thinking about DE and/or if not, is thinking it out so far that they could react well if it's a surprise?

Sydney said...

Ork -- couldn't that be Zach's usual dry humor re; how OBVIOUS her roots are at this point? Maybe if you had seen the exchange there'd be more clues as to it being kind fo a joke?

DIck has redone his red flames which had totall washed out, adn we know that's not Jess's natural color but we've seen NO roots for her at all, so why are they not giving Dani some hairdye and letting her do hers, liek Janelle did in the house. I know she said she did not do her own. I don't either but I would under these circumstances!

orkmommy ..lol, that would be a good one.
I wanted to tell you that I have a 21 year old daughter. She has pretty much grown up with a computer in the house, maybe since 3rd or 4th grade. She still uses all those internet thingies
because it's what she is used to as shortcuts. She also loves BB, but often has a completely different spin on things than me since the kids in the house are more her (and her brothers)generation.

Sad here too...I'm not even at the mid-50 mark.

orkmommy--another thought for BB9---how about brother/sister?? Big brothers can be pretty defensive of their baby sisters. Could be interesting......

OK,OK, on to the game....

Haven't heard Joker's this morning...is Dick trying to evict Jess?? I hope not! I would love to see the F4 fight it out in the end. Zach is a bigger fool
than I thought if he believes ANYTHING D/D are telling him. If he turns of E/J and E/Jam win HOH he will be gone on the spot. This is going to be a long week in the BB house--lots of sad faces and sleeping----boring---

I think Zach hasn't thought any further than final 2 money.
I think he's thinking that if he deals with Dick, he'll be in the final two with either Dick or Daniele. Following Dick's plan to oust Jessica now can lead Zach to the conclusion that Eric and Jameka will go next, and Daniele and Zach will be the final two since Dick would give Daniele that and/or Zach thinks he'd easily beat Dick.
I think that's it...Zach's goal is final 2 money, and dick is the vehicle to get him there..OY

anon 11:16--no to your question about DE. Last year they had the eviction of one HG, did HOH, and then told the new HOH they had three minutes to nominate two people, new votes were cast and a second person was evicted.
(If I'm wrong on that please correct me). You can see how important it is to be playing one step ahead--if you win HOH and have no idea what your next move is someone is screwed!!

Usually the POV ceremony is held on Mon.--since they did POV comp. early are we going to have ceremony early, too?

thanks for all the updates, jackie...i really appreciate how you sum up the information.

the noms HAVE to stay the same. what? did jessica think she'd NEVER be on the block? the only way the fantastic four would have all stayed off the block this week would have been if one of them had won hoh, and from what i've seen, dick really tried.

next time one of them will have to go up with zach.

sometimes i wonder if these people have ever really watched the game.

Deanna said...

I am really disappointed that they have not shown the sequester house yet & that they may have them all seperated. Someone on a previous post mentioned something about BB never showing sequester until (3) HG show up there, but I have been watching BB since day 1 and remember it to always be when the second person shows up. In the same episode, they show HG #1 showing up to the SH, they then show us(the viewers) the house and then they show the (2nd) HG showing up. I distinctly remember Marcellas (last year) being alone in the SH when it was either Howie or James(forget the order) who showed up and he was so upset by it.

Jayne said...

also...i hope dick or daniele gets hoh next...i'm pretty much counting on it since eric is either choosing to lose comps or really bad at them.

i hope d or d puts eric and jess up and sticks with zach.

as to the question of zach's loyalty to dick...

i think this guy has NEVER fit in in his life and now he's playing with the 'cool' kids. i know he mentioned he lost 70lbs before coming on the show and that's not enough time for him to have shed the emotional baggage that can come with being overweight.

i'm not saying EVERYONE who is overweight has emotional baggage, so no flames, please!

i do think zach has some based on what i've read and seen.

jmo.

and i'm overweight myself.

I think double eviction works like this:
- Thurs. night regular eviction
- Thurs. night HOH comp and HOH has a few minutes to nominate live
- Fri. is POV and eviction
which we get to see on Sunday's show.

I'm now confused about sequester. I thought that when the third person shows up is when we get to see a video of everyone, from the first on, showing up.
LOL, see?..remembering how BB works would be a good seniors house comp!

Sydney said...

I am reposting this here as I think I did it too far after we'd all moved on 2-3posts for those asking about sequester.

My hunch on why no sequester house so far:
Dustin was to be in Mexico just as a hurricaine sped through (I would think they'd havelearned from pervious years that this is not the time of year to be in Mexico/Gulf areas and just put them up in Santa Barbara or San Diego fercrissakes).

Once relocated, Jen refuses to live with Dustin and others. BB producers aquiesce to keep her vote.

Amber gets out and wants to be on vaca with her pal Dustin but with her scandal all across CNN/Foxnews/Msn etc... they start this no press rule, and maybe had to delay her going straight there or do something unusual re all that.

Or maybe Jen's refusal to stay with Dustin kinda messed things up... you'd think it would be a breach of contract and she could be sued by them, but it looks like she could at least have grounds to hit back so maybe they both agreed to disagree and let her stay elsewhere. In which case, how do you film the sequester house and explain any of these possible scenarios?

This may be totally off base, but with these complications, it's not a surprise to me that we aren't seeing the SQ house as usual.

Anonymous said...

Hi Jackie,
I am sorry if you have answered this question in another post, but why are they not showing us the jury house? Also, how will they do "live double eviction" or do they just mean they will nominate on Thursday? Thanks!

Anonymous said...

Riseandshine - Julie said on Thursday's show two HG's would leave the house before the hour was over. I think it will go like this...

Eviction - top of the hour
HOH Comp
Nominations
Veto Comp
Veto Ceremony
Second Eviction
Second HOH Comp - end of the hour

They may hold off on the second HOH comp, but they can't go too many days without an HOH so....

what is amber's "scandal?"

Anonymous said...

Zoetawny: How great, and I had completely missed the 'floating' ball for Zach. Glad you got the comp fitting the hg.

Why does Zach believe/allign with Dick? I think it is a guy thing, in a sexist way. Men are leaders and strong, listen to them. Zach befriended men and Dick is the only one left. (Sorry Eric) Maybe he is sticking to his original promises. Maybe he is sexist enough to think men are the leaders. I just wish he saw himself in that role. Wasn't he with Kail? Did Kail ask him? Or did he ask her to join in the Mrs. Robinson thing? Was Zach aligned (in his mind) with D & D before Kail left or only after? I think Zach wants to be in F3 with D & D, and wants to be alone in the house with Daniele for the days before the final.
At this point in the game Veto is much more important to have than HOH. As Daniele knew during the HOH comp. If Jameka goes this time, then either Jess or Zach will be the DE. Sue

I remember the year when DE wasn't live, but was broadcast on the live show. We all went crazy with feeds blocked and then caught a glimpse of hgs in the kitchen and tried to decide who went home. Was that season 6? Julie spoke of two going home and a live eviction. I'm not sure of her actual words. I know all voting has been live this year, so having two voting sessions in one show will be power packed. Jackie, I hope there will be no football game in your area that night! Sue

Sydney said...

Anon 1:08-- for several days after Amber spoke her piece on Jewish people to Jameka in the back yard, clips of the conversation, complete with captions below so America would not miss a word of it, was repeatedly shown on the major news networks. It was even debated split screen on a few of them by lawyers, psychiatrists, and gossip hosts as well. I saw it personally on MSN, Fox news, CNN and CNN's entertainment show called Showbiz Tonight for a few days in a row.

Also, CBS put out a disclaimer and among the places I read that was TMZ.com, in reponse (If I remember correctly) to someone who represents a major discrimination group who had filed public complaint, at least in letter form if not more. Who knows what I else I missed.

Though lots has been written about Dick and tossing his tea or the cigarette incident with Jen, it's not been on CNN, or debated by analysts in primetime news.

So Amber may need to be protected from more than just her behavior and what was there only for the feed watchers to see, or bloggers to pick up and comment on. It was on the national stage and in a protracted way.

The only football played on Thurs is New Orleans at Indianapolis and will be broadcast on NBC, so we should be safe.

Just a thought...if Eric wins HOH on the live double eviction show, it will be the only time he can make his own decision about who to nominate (without America's input).

And I remember in last years live eviction show, the second person to go that hour was also the other person who was originally nominated. So they already had their belongings packed. Do you think BB will tell everyone to pack before the show (which would tip them off) or would BB go in later to gather their belongings? I really hope they don't get any advance warning!

Anonymous said...

To Sydney,

It is interesting to speculate on the effect of a double elimination timeline on the nominations. I hadn't done so before, but I think the DE actually benefits Zack in the short term.

Case #1 - Jameeka evicted this week.

HOH will be either an E/J or a D/D. Nominations are either the other pair or Zack and a pawn. If they thought about it, they would probably go Zack and pawn giving them the option of maintaining their final 4 alliance or picking up Zack in a final 3 alliance. But they won't have time to think about it.

If they vote immediately, it really screws up the strategy, I think. Normally it would be a Sunday elmination in a DE week, but Julie sounded like it was a DE on Thursday. That would mean they would have to decide which way to go in a matter of minutes. In that case, I don't think Zack is the obvious target. Given 2 minutes to choose, wouldn't you break up the other pair?

Case #2 - Jessica ousted.

HOH will be Eric, ED or Dani.

If it's Eric, I think he will toss up D/D just out of anger for the betrayal. I also think this MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN HIS NOMINATIONS had he had a couple days to work on it. It'll be an emotional play rather than strategic. But, he won't have time to put together a new alliance after the elim of Jessica. The immediate vote (depending on POV) will probably protect Zack and Jameeka, because they won't be the obvious target and Eric will want revenge.

If it's ED or Dani, I think the short timeline will force them to do the obvious Eric and Jameeka. this also protects Zack and keeps E/D from forging a new final 3 alliance.

To riseandshine:

I'd love to know how Zack thinks he gets to the final 2. You know ED wants Dani in the final 2. Dani must think she stands a better chance opposite ED than Zack. Either way, Zack has to win HOH in the final 3 to put himself in the final. But he can do that working with any other pair in the house, E/D don't help him in the final 3 although they could help him get to the final 4.

Then again, if Zack really is thinking strategically, he might be planning on a Jess ouster followed by a new alliance with Jameeka and Eric (assuming he can convince Eric that D/D were solely responsible for Jess's eviction). In that threesome, it isn't obvious who would take who to the Final 2 and Eric would almost definitely take Zack as the better choice. Jameeka could go either way, Eric would be more hated but also have been the better player while Zack wasn't liked (although never hated) and appears a floater like Jameeka.

If that is Zack's plan, the DE will screw him up because he won't have time to forge a new alliance with Eric/Jameeka. They'll all be voting based on gut reaction and it all comes down to who wins HOH this week.

And if that is Zack's plan, he is truly a strategist of the 1st order and I will take my hat off to him.

PlaidChick said...

If Eric is all about Jessica (which he's not) he would go to Zach and Daniele and say "Use the power of veto, remove Jessica, and put me up." After all, he would do anything for her, right? Wrong.

He keeps throwing each competition, saying he is hurt, or just couldn't do it. He is weasal and needs to go.

Ohh and by the way America's Player ends on September 12th. Eric will be able to make his own decisions if he's in the final 4. I also think he will win some part of the competitions Thursday night then because he won't have to do what we tell him.

Plaidchick, Eric CANNOT be all about Jessica because he is AP. Eric DID fail Jessica when she was HOH last week but I think he did so because he knew that America was gunning for Amber to get out. He KNEW that and so he had to make sure that no more suspicion was cast upon him and chose not to use the veto because he knew that was his best chance of ousting her without causing him a problem. I think Eric's major flaw has been believing that Dick and Dani would remain faithful because there is no way that Dani is going to NOT screw people over to win that money. He should have allowed Jessica to nominate Dick and Dani when she was HOH and not persuaded her to trust in people who have proven untrustworthy. That is a major, major mis-step on both of their parts and will probably cause Jessica to be evicted. I think if Dani gets her way, Jess will go. If she doesn't, Eric and Jess need to thank their lucky stars and go in for the kill and get Dani out immediately.

What does 1 5 3 mean and where did it come from. I have heard it means I adore you, but where did it ever come from?

Anonymous said...

So if America's last vote is Wednesday September 12th we would have the say on Eric's vote to evict on Thursday September 13th and won't that be the final 4 vote? determining who makes Final 3? If Eric makes it in to the Final 3 then we won't have any input but the likelihood that it would matter at that point is nil.

Anonymous said...

Again, Plaidchick, Eric HAS to be a weasel to pull off AP. I'm not saying he might not be one anyway, but I think it's hard to pass judgment when he's been put in this position. I think he threw competitions MOST of the time because he knew that he would then HAVE to put up who America told him to put up--and those were the people he was more closely aligned with. Is that being a weasel, or is that being a smart player?

I don't think Eric not offering to give himself up for Jessica proves that he doesn't care for her. It's a game, as we're all being reminded of and he can do whatever he choses. Offering himself up would make him look like a chump and he's no chump.

Barbwire - There's a minor flaw in your theory...

If Eric doesn't win the HOH, there's no time for him to convince whoever got it who they should put up. Last year, Janie only had like 3 minutes to make her decision. By the time she got to Will to ask what he thought, she was almost out of time.

Good evening everyone! Hope I'm not repeating anyone else when I pose a plausible explanation regarding Eric's inability to win anything. Do you think that BB TOLD him NOT to win anything? The only time he was asked to compete in POV was "houseguests choice". Maybe it was "predetermined" that he shouldn't win anything. I may be in the minority, but I like Jess and Eric. I enjoy their innocent flirting...yes, her voice is annoying, but we all have our "things". I agree with Jackie regarding his foul mouth, but maybe he thinks "when in Rome"! I think I'm most upset that many D&D fans have forgotten Dick's total disregard and disrespect for women and humankind in general. His mouth is beyond foul and some of the words he used earlier in the season are just disgusting. Is it strategy? I don't think so...I think the Dick you see is the Dick you get!!! no pun intended

Patti - the same thought occurred to me about Eric either being advised by BB not to win anything or choosing not to do so for his own strategy.

Or else he's just really bad at competitions, LOL.

This is totally off-subject but...

Have any of you watched Celebrity Bull Riding Challenge on CMT? It was on last night and repeated during the week. Guys like Leif Garrett (quit already because it was too early to get up). Stephen Baldwin (gone because he got hurt).Francesco Quinn (Anthony's son)(hurt, but still there to root the others on), Vanilla Ice (actually being decent) and three others I don't remember. BUT, Johnny Fairplay is there too. And what has shocked me is that he has been so nice. He's actually being a decent human being! And he's doing very well in the bull riding. Maybe he's finally found his niche. I haven't seen Gramma around though. Just wondered if anyone else happened to catch it. The coach is a cowboy named Ty Murray, whose long-time girlfriend, the singer, Jewel appears every week on the show.

I think i will SCREAM if Zack ends up there in the end with Dick and Danielle or Zack and anyone. He may end up talking his stupid way into getting Jes evicted. AT the beginning he was all about getting Jameka out and Danielle keeps putting little ideas in his head about Eric and jess and getting them out. Sometimes people say something to Zack and he ends up taking what they said and twisting it in his mind to where he thought they ment something all together different. He talks to Dick and Dick says nothing and he thinks hes had some big pow wow and Dick has given him a new idea. Its like he hears voices in his head. Everytime i see him thinking about it he says something else stupid. Someone put him out of his misery. If Zack even ends up in the bottom 4 i will be so aggravated. How can he still be here. He is so smart he's stupid. Give me a break.

I think if D and D were smart they would go ahead and get Jess out while they can. This is a game about power plays and this would be a power play. I don't think either one of them could win against her in F2 as she is so well liked, as compared to D and D, and has indeed played the game, winning comps and gettiing out people without making enemies. D and D are both smart players and they will see the benefits of getting Jess out now.

I knew when Eric didn't use the POV to backdoor Dani that it was going to come back to bite them on the butt.

Yea, major blunder on Eric's part not using the POV last week. Why trust in a game that's built on mistrust? I'm guessing Jess will go and hopefully Jam and Eric can pull their heads out of their butts and get with the program, take one of the D's out then take Zach out and see what happens from there.

If there is a double eviction on Thursday, is there a POV?

Barbwire: I hope you get a chance to watch it. I was flippin' channels one night and kind of got hooked on it, especially after seeing Fairplay being such a nice guy. Sorta watching in disbelief, I guess. Anyway, your last sentence sounded like something my hubby would do. Sheesh, MEN!
