Tonight's 'American Idol 7' - Hollywood Week - 02/12

Jackie's TV Blog, American Idol
I won't be blogging tonight's show as the second hour is reserved for the Big Brother 9 season premiere for me.

I will be recording the second hour and eventually get it watched. So far, it's different -- they can play instruments!

I thought I'd open up a discussion post for tonight's show in case you wanted to comment.

And, don't forget -- I'll be live-blogging the season premiere of Big Brother 9 starting at about 9 PM ET!

What are they feeding them that's coloring the tongues of half the contestants? Very odd.

Now we're hearing some really good singers. Maybe this will be a great season, after all.

I wondered about the colored tongues...my guess is some kind of Slurpee machine or something. It was amusing watching them sing their hearts out with blue or green tongues. :-)

I have to say that there appears to be some really, really good talent this time. I was blown away by the 16 year old guy(was channel flipping and didn't catch his name),he has a wonderful voice for a kid his age.I also liked Josiah, but thought he had blown it with that final song, but amazingly, they still put him through. It looks like a good crop!

Sharon..you may be referring to David Archuleta(sp?). He was the young boy who had vocal cord damage and hadn't been able to sing for awhile prior to auditioning. He was really superb last night. If the Sanjaya fan base votes for him, he could go a long way and not make our ears bleed in the process.

I think the colored tongues is probably from a losenge... We used to keep chlorseptic losenges handy for our singers in case they were having any throat difficulties (small community singing group I used to belong to).

There is another young male that has made it thru thus far too. If they both make it, the kiddies will have to choose between them. Not a bad idea...it would keep a repeat of Sanjaya from happening, since votes would probably be divided. Method to their madeness???

I enjoyed the whole 2 hours. Tonight will tell who they've chosen to compete.

America once again looks foolish to the rest of the world in its choices of talent. Whether the people are voting for President of the US or the top 10 American Idols to go on tour, America makes the uneducated decision. Amanda Overmyer is one of the most creative and talented performers among the Idols and should never have gone home. On the other hand it's clear to me that politics and ethnicity played a major role in keeping Ramiele Malubay in the top 10 when she performed the worse of anyone for the past 2 weeks, (not to mention this pathetic little girl coy thing she does). I wonder if there will ever be a day I won’t have to be embarrassed when traveling abroad to say where I’m from. American people – WISE UP PLEASE!
