Well, I think Lawrence and Edyta were excellent, but not as good as Kym and David.

To be honest, both of these couples deserved to remain. I like Steve, but he is not the same caliber as either of them.

Well, the wrong one went home.

monty924 said...

I always love watching Kym dance, so I'm sad to see Kym and DAG go. :( Now off to watch my recording of Idol. See you Thursday.

meb said...

galos... I wanted to respond to your comment because I totally agree with you. I was the one who said "let's not be too greedy" and you said: "...no one should penalize a celebrity based on who their partner is and if they've won before...".

It didn't sound like it, but I was only kidding... and again, I totally agree with your statement. I just happen to like Melissa, and would love Tony to win, cause how often will he have this opportunity.

But Giles is HOT and the best dancer of this season, so of course, he should win if he continues to be the best.

Thanks for picking me up on it tho.

I like Ty. I think the judges are overly critical of this couple.

Anyone here with me?

monty924 said...

I'm here Becky. Geesh my wv is like 100 letters, lol.

Ty is too adorable.

monty924 said...

That was a beautiful Rumba from Shawn and Mark. I was worried that she couldn't pull it off but she did.

becky said...

Shawn is very talented and very graceful.

In case any of you don't get TV Guide, the following was included in this weeks magazine.
Shawns up-front fee was $125,000. For weeks three and four she gets an extra $10,000. For weeks five, six and seven, an extra $20,000. Eight and nine $30,000. And for the last two weeks $40,000 per week!

Paydays for the pros is only $5,000a week. Bonuses for making it to the semifinals are only $500.

Once their star is sent home, the paychecks stop.

monty924 said...

That was LT's best dance to date. I agree with Bruno, well all of them. Wasn't Warren cute? I loved him last year.

becky said...

Love that in practice Melissa is wearing her Don't Mess With Texas tee shirt.

She got rid o her litter when Jason dumped her. Oh, I read an article that said the girl Jason dumped her for has not seen the little boy since the last date before Jason chose Melissa. The article said she won't move to Seattle yet because she wants to make sure Jason won't change his mind -- again.

She and Tony are dancing beautifully.

monty924 said...

Of course I'm prejudiced with Melony, but that was fantastic. She stayed in the character very well tonight. I loved it!

monty924 said...

That was cute, but not my favorite from Lil Kim and Derek. There wasn't a lot of kicks and flicks to it.

monty924 said...

Once I agree with Len. Yikes!

LucyGrace said...

hi kids, late tonight...but i'm here, kind of. doing my taxes on the side.

i love ty - i think he is the one most out of his element but is really making the best of it.

i don't like this year's football player. i love edyta, but wouldn't mind seeing LT go (sorry nana)

i thought lil kim's less than little kim's were going to pop out of her shirt. and i had to do a second look, i thought julianne was in drag, and here it was derek.

shawn and mark were wonderful.

did you hear ocoto mom is going to be a celebrity dancer next year?

back to the IRS i go.

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lucyGrace said...

there is just so much wrong with steve=o. LOL and what are all the tat's? who is the lady on his arm? lucy? marilyn monroe?

becky said...

LucyGrace, I am glad someone agrees with me about Lacey and Steve. I don't think they will go home. I think the Lacey fans will vote to keep them here.

He is funny, but I am ready for him to go.

Sydney, I didn't have 100 letters in my WV, but it felt like 50!

monty924 said...

I actually agreed with carrie Ann on that one. It wasn't 4 worthy. Its obvious that Len wants Steve-O going, going, gone. We shall see if it works this week or not.

monty924 said...

Speaking of Sydney... where is she tonight?

LG, I always wait until the last minute on my taxes but did them early this year. Much less stress. :)

monty924 said...

Now THAT was a jive. I simply can not find any flaws in that man. Fanning...

Just wrap it up and give him the Mirror Ball already, lol.

It was frantic, I agree.

LG said...

becky, i also read somewhere the pro's are locked in for 5 years. guess that's why julie ann came back this year.

wonder what the judges make????

i think the judges are real tough on steve-o and on ty, but i prefer ty over steve-o.

i want to see the judges dance this year.

becky said...

Bruno will be panting after Gilles in that shirt tonight.

Len may not agree, but he is a wonderful dancer. He is NOT clumsy!

Guess he will get 8's and 9's. My WV is twoon.... with Gilles it should be swoon.

LG said...

carrie ann will gig her...j.a.'s feet came off the floor for just a second.

their dance was good.

monty924 said...

I have a juicy package of prunes for Len. He gets some of them right, but he's so off on others. Julianne and Chuck's dance was smokin. Just what a Rumba should be.

becky said...

Julieanne and Chuck were wonderful tonight. I loved it when Chuck said he didn't want anyone to say they didn't have chemistry.

Pardon me for saying this, but I don't know who was the horniest, Carrie Ann or Bruno.

Len, go home and go to bed! You need your rest.

dla said...

Hi everyone! Good show tonight. Len just gets in a funk and stays there some weeks.

I thought Julieann and Chuck were great tonight. I don't recall that Len has ever liked one of Julieann's rumbas, as they are always too hot. I loved it!

Gilles continues to impress, and he is just HOT. I say that every week, but I sit and think it every week as I watch him. WOW.

Loved Mel & Tony. And I love that her parents are there to support her each week. :)

I would predict that either Steve O or Ty go home this week, but you never know with America voting.

Sydney said...

Hi folks!

becky said...

Hey, Sydney. How are you today?

becky said...

I was reading email. Finally got through it all.

becky said...

I guess Ty and Steve O. will be in the bottom two. I do hope Steve O goes home and not Ty. Steve can't dance and I don't think it is fair if Lacey's popular vote keeps them there. JMHO

becky said...

WOW! Julianne and Tony knocked them dead!

Love Lawrence's comment about Edyta -- you know she is allergic to clothes.

Am I talking to myself again?

becky said...

I am glad that Ty is staying. He is the better dancer on the low two.

monty924 said...

Steve-O going home was/is probably a good thing. I think Chuck could have gone and I wouldn't have cared. Something about Steve-O had me captivated this season (and I love Lacey, lol). I'm happy that Ty lives to dance another week along with LT. Neither one is long for this competition though. The final four is pretty obvious at this point.

Sorry to miss the broadcast party tonight.

gaylos said...

Hey everyone! I was sick yesterday and couldn't get to post my usual post-show thoughts... but just wanted to pop on and say thanks Meb for your comment and clarifying that you were kidding. I'm really glad you didn't take offence to that part of my post either, cause I was just sating my own opinion. You're obviously mature and fun!

I won't bother to post regarding the show, cause it's just so late to do that now, but I think the right couple went home last night. Looking forward to Gilles' next dance as usual, and even though they're my couple, I DID think the ChuJu rumba was just a "hair" over the top...

Love Mel and Tony as well, as well as Lil Kim and D, but thought the 10's were overinflated...

See ya next week!

Sydney said...

sorry- got pulled away from the computer last night and truthfully, we watch Biggest Loser and switch back and forth -- not the best way to see either.

I loved Steve-O for his earnestness, but he was ready to go home this time with his pride in hand, a sense of accomplishment and a bunch of new friends. I just didn't want him to leave a few weeks ago when he was feeling so bad about himself. He got his chance and took it as far as he could. Bravo.

What blunder did Len see that the other judges didn't even mention? Melissa and Tony deserved all tens for that beautiful Argentinean Tango. It was breath-taking!

becky said...

Hey, anyone else here? Melissa and Tony were fabulous, Edyta and Lawrence were so-so. I am not impressed with Derek's and Little Kim's rumba. Plus Derek is wearing his shaggy dog do.

I agree with Carrie Ann. Good advice Len. Is Bruno saying "bring back the roach? It sounded like it.

becky said...

Hey, Joy. Oh, Bruno was saying raunch. I think the nines were too high.

becky said...

Julieann and Chuck were hot, hot, hot. Even Len was pleased. Nines are good.

monty924 said...

I'm trying to catch up. Hi joy n and Becky. Mel and Tony's AT was breath taking and I didn't see the blunder Len was talking about.

Chuck surprised me tonight and I agree with the score. It was great for them.

I'm loving the outfits so far tonight... not a bad job by the stars. Chelsie looks gorgeous in that dress and I loved their waltz. Our Ty is BACK... YAY!

becky said...

I loved Ty's and Chelsie's dance. Oh, the judges were very positive in their comments, but their score was low IMHO. I thought they were better than Derek and Little Kim.

Frankly, I think that the judges have decided who they want in the finals.

I think that T/C and L/E will be in the bottom two this week. Which ever one doesn't go home this week will go next week.

I bet they give Shawn and Tony high marks. I knew it! I thought Julieann's and Chuck's was better last week. Scores this week for S/T were entirly to high I think.

Am I talking to myself -- again?

becky said...

Hey, Monty! Good to see you post.

monty924 said...

60's group dance coming up. Looks like a lot of fun. I may have to jump on my coffee table (my Go Go box) and join them.

joy n said...

THAT was a FUN dance!

becky said...

Of course Gilles was beautiful. Oh, Bruno is h***ey again! Whew, he is so darn sexy!

Lawrence is very funny. Loved Ty in the wig.

I remember singing Rubber Dolly when I was a little girl in the
'40's. Very entertaining group dance.

See you tomorrow night.

becky said...

I said... Of course Gilles was beautiful. Oh, Bruno is h***ey again! Whew, he is so darn sexy!

You do know I mean Gilles I hope. Bruno is about as sexy as a bar of soap.

joy n said...

Sorry, Monty and Becky, I was caught up in watching and just came back to my pute. Overall, a very good show tonight.

I tend to agree with you, Becky, that the winners have already been chosen by the judges.

Sydney said...

darn -I went for a walk and to the grocery store and missed DWTS! I tivo'd it, but I thought it was only 8:00 just now, and it's actually close to 9 PM> It being light out so long now really throws me off. Darn

Margo said...

Mornin all - I thought Ty was underscored. I loved that dance. How can the judges rave like that and then give 8's. They picked at Lil Kim but gave her 9's - WTF. I also thought Chuck was going to get 10's from the way the judges were gushing compliments right and left. Oh well what do I know - maybe I need to start voting so my opinion can count.
I hope LT goes home I think he is ready. There is no way he can learn 2 new dances for next week and Edyta may kill him with all his whining.

Margo

RBennie said...

I thought that overall, the judges were pretty much right in their scoring last night. Let's face it, yes Ty did better than last week, but I can't imagine him ever scoring much better than an 8 or 9 - there are no 10s in his future. While the judges had some criticism for Lil Kim, it was more in the line of if she had raunched it up more, she might have gotten 10s. As for Chuck and Julianne, yes that was their best dance yet, but those 9s were a wee bit generous. I thought Gilles and Cheryl were really good and were scored acurately, but Cheryl's dress was god-awful, LOL. I loved Shawn and Mark. Their dance was so much fun. The group dance was a lot of fun too. The bottom 2 will most likely be LT and Ty, but there could always be a surprise.

Margo said...

BB NEWS- Did you hear
Julie Chen is pregnant with her 1st child. I guess no sexy host outfits this summer since she is due Oct 4.

Margo

joy n said...

Not surprised to see Lawrence go. It will probably be Ty next week. Maybe Chuck after that?

dla said...

Happy that LT can go home and golf every day. He has not appeared to be into it for weeks, so it is a good thing!

I would agree that Ty will probably leave next week, and then the fight of the final four.

becky said...

Wonder if they will not eliminate anyone this week. It is a shame about Melissa.

I have seen everyone dance except Ty. Before I even see him dance, I will say that I think the judges will score him low and he will go.

I am going to go read email since it is so lonely here.

Sydney said...

OH MY GOD!!! TY's SALSA was HOT!!!!

becky said...

Hey Sydney. Do you get the feeling that the judges divided the teams into the groups with the ones they want in the finals on the same team?

And Ty WAS hot tonight! Bet Len votes against his team because he wants Ty to go next.

becky said...

Gosh, Bruno is going to charge the boys before it is over.

Sydney said...

I caved and gave all 6 votes to TY. I'm a goner, I admit it!

Sydney said...

Last week I didn't get to comment. I can't believe how hard they are on Chuck and Julianne. They are doing a fine job and keep getting low scores.

I know Derek and Lil Kim are great but they have had their uneven performances. Melissa is really good, and so is Gilles. And Shawn is also doing well as Chuck and Julianne. So I don't get why they give them such low scores.

I have no idea who will be in the F2, do you?

Sydney said...

Margo, my reactions to last week were identical to yours, RBennie and I usually have the same opinions and this week, yours were with the judges which bewildered me as Margo said. I love it!

dla said...

Sydney, I would predict a final two of Gilles and Melissa, if she is healthy.

If her injury holds her back, I think it will be Gilles and either Kim or Shawn, but it would depend on who can ramp it up the next couple of weeks.

I also agree that it appears that the judges have already decided that Ty and Chuck will be the next two to go home, in whatever order.

I am looking forward to watch the show West Coast time.

dla said...

Good show! I agree with the judges that Team Tango took the team comp tonight.

I sure hope that Melissa is OK. This show has been frought with injuries the last couple of seasons!

Anonymous said...

I want Shawn to win. Saying that, I thought she looked tired or like she wasn't having fun at all last night. Still, she's an awesome kid.

RBennie said...

Great show last night. I think Team Tango was definitely better than Team Mambo, but Team Mambo was a lot of fun to watch. I have no clue as to who will go home tonight. If I had my pick, it would be Chuck & Julianne. I like him a lot and find him to be very funny, but, even though he has improved, he is not in the same league as Gilles, Melissa, Kim and Shawn. IMO those 4 should be the final 4. I hope that Melissa will be able to continue in the competition. It would be so sad to have to drop out this late in the game. I really love Ty and Chelsea and would like to see him last another week, but then I think it's time for him to go home. Sorry Sydney, don't kill me. I know you love him, but I don't think he belongs in the finals.

Margo said...

At the rate they are going it is going to be Kym, Ty and Shawn in the finals cause they are the last ones standing. Go figure it is the atheletes and the "dancer" that have not sustained any injury. Maybe they should make the contestants do 2 month of core strengthning or something before they even start dancing. This is scary with all the injuries.

I just love Ty's attitude. He really seems to be enjoying himself and he is so cute. I figured it out last night that it is he=is personality that makes him so cute. He also was the only one trying to help Kym and Chelsie with their problem of being attached. Finally Gilles started to help and they got untangled. It must be a husband thing to step in and assist the woman. Dereck was oblivious. Sorry for all the spelling errors - not my strong suit.
I think maybe Chuck & Julienne ane going home - or Melissa will have to bow out.

Margo

Caroline said...

Well for what it's worth (and I always take this with a grain of salt) Dial Idol has everyone safe except for Kim/Derek & Ty/Chelsie.

In order from most votes to least:
Shawn/Mark
Gilles/Cheryl
Melissa/Tony
Chuck/Julianne
Kim/Derek
Ty/Chelsie

Generally if they mark someone "green" they are correct in their safe prediction...with only two couples "yellow" it certainly appears tonight will be the end for Ty/Chelsie.

You have got to be kidding me. No way is Melissa better than Julieanne and Chuck. She is just like the rest of us...not an actor, not a singer, normal people who work everyday. Except for the fact that she went on live tv looking for a guy and living on sympothy from the public. Sorry, she's got nothing the rest of us dont have. Bub bye!

I was sorry to see Julianne and Chuck go, but very relieved to see Melissa and Tony make the cut another week. I think Melissa has done incredibly well precisely because she isn't as used to the spotlight as much as the others. I think Gilles probably has this in the bag and that's fine with me as I believe he's done incredibly well also. I'm hoping Melissa comes in second, unless Gilles totally screws up and I doubt that will happen.

meb said...

I was amazed that Lacy was able to come in and complete that Team dance with only about 10 minutes to rehearse. I know she's considered a professional, but let's be realistic... just the year before last she was in the So You Think You Can Dance competition.

She was excellent.

RBennie said...

Yes I agree MEB, Lacey was great. I have loved her since her SYTYCD days and was very happy to learn that she was going to be on DWTS. I think her choreography brings a breath of fresh air to some of the more staid ballroom dances. Did you notice that Pasha and Anya danced on the result show the other night? Along with Dmitri and Chelsea, SYTYCD alumni are taking over that show. Now if they could just get Danny Tidwell on DWTS, I'd be in heaven.

Caroline said...

Lol, I was so busy drooling over Pasha that I didn't even notice he was dancing with Anya. I love the SYTYCD alumni on DWTS...they've certainly grabbed up the cream of the ballroom crop. Too bad there's no room for some of the fantastic contemporary dancers (i.e. Katee). Admittedly I'm a bigger Chelsie fan than Lacey...but they both bring great elements to the show and they both seem to be great with teaching newcomers.

Sydney said...

Anyone here -- MOnday night? Shawn's quickstep was great. Loved the choreography. The Ballast's (father and son) are both such upbeat people. Corky was wonderful with Cloris and Mark is great with Shawn.

good evening....hope i'm not talking to myself LOL

so far so good tonight. i do give ty credit, he's really come the furthest, but i don't think he should be in the final three.

how is everyone tonight?

Sydney said...

Not talking to yourself Lucy -- we're here Becky.

I LOVE TY. He sure get's all 10's for effort.

Sydney said...

hmmmm... what did we think about lil' Kim? There was some stumbling.

Carrie Ann is being very encouraging to everyone tonight. She will give criticism but refer with a big smile to the next dance where she assures each one they will surely rock.

Sydney said...

Derek, so graceful. He was born to do this.

becky said...

Hey, everyone. Sydney, I like your guy Ty. He really tries hard.

All of them are good tonight. Derek and Little Kim were excellent. If they don't get
10's -- well looks like Carrie Ann is not going to give them. Well, all of them caught the hand thing and mis-step.

It also looks like Len took his laxative tonight.

LucyGrace said...

i agree, derek is graceful. i wasn't thrilled with lil kim on this one, but do look forward to her latin.

i do like ty, but i think his days are numbered.

rain again today....supposed to go until the end of the week. the garden is looking full and lush and soon the peonies will be in bloom, so i can't complain. just brought a chill to the house again and i refuse to put the heat back on.

Sydney said...

Gee even Gil and Cheryl look off tonight.

Choreography did nothing for me with them, which is ususally not the case....

Sydney said...

I think everyone is nervous and tired at this point....

okay, so cheryl is an excellent dancer, but i just can't stand the way she hangs all over her

becky said...

WOW!!! Gilles and Cheryl were smoking!

Len, was nice, but did find things that were not done correctly.

Bruno was/is hot to trot -- and not with Cheryl.

Carrie Ann loved it.

What was the snarky face from Len about Carrie Ann's comment that dancing like that would put him in the semi-finals?

Sydney said...

Lucy, It' s tough with rain, the gloom and making things chilly. It was cozy a few months ago, but I think our bodies are ready for the spring/summer weather to stay. But your garden apparently loves it!

Wow, guess I need to get my glasses, as the judges thought that was fabulous with Gil and Cheryl. Am I blind? Did everyone else thing that rocked?

Melissa is dressed up and with the hair looks like a dancer on Lawrence Welk or Sonny and Cher or something! lol. Petticoat Junction?

Sydney said...

Seriously, what meds is Len saying he 's on?

Sydney said...

Well, Melissa does those legs lifts beautifully!

LucyGrace said...

petticoat junction...lol

melissa looks beautiful. i thought they were graceful, with a few missteps, but who am i? just someone that sits on her azz and watches.

i am looking forward to the latin dances.

who was all dancing at the very beginning? i know it was louie and lacey, but who else? and that's new, isn't it - starting the show off like it was a tuesday night?

did ya all watch TAR on sunday? i love that show. i do hope the brother and sister win.

becky said...

Good scores, Melissa. I think poor, sweet Ty will go home.

Sydney said...

Somehow I don't think ballroom dancers work with these kinds of Rock and roll songs. I appreciate they aer trying to do variety but it doesn't work with flowy dresses in electric blue.

Watched TAR -- Lucy, forgive my memory but have you joined us for the live blogging of that show on Jackies? IT and Survivor are tons of fun to live blog...

I know, it's Ty's time to go. I am amazed he's stayed in this long, and am really happy about that.

LG said...

sydney, every so often i pop in on survivor and TAR, not often though.

i found jackie's blog a few years back when i was out of the country and missed a few BB episodes.

shawn is too cute...but i don't think she has the passion for the paso....or i could be wrong.

becky said...

Bruno turns my stomach. I was not impressed with the dance by Mark and Shawn -- sorry.

Sydney said...

very cool choreography for that Paso Doble...Go Shawn! Great job!

Sydney said...

oops, I wrote my note about them before seeing both of yours. I thought she brought the attitude and was very precice with the foot work... all of which looked pretty complicated.

I love it that we all see different things. When I think it sux the judges say GREAT! what do I know? :-P

I'm entertained, and this is the point, right?

Who are you rooting for to win TAR Lucy? I am sorting paperwork as I watch this, and am going to switch to watching Ganriel Byrne in In Treatment on HBO once it's over.... hubba hubba.

LucyGrace said...

i think the music sucks. i wish they would reconsider some of the music (as well as the singers). some of the crap they are forced to dance to is irritating and just wrong.

am i in the minority on this?

Hello all!

Well, I did not read comments until I watched the show West Coast time. I thought it was a good show, with a few mis-steps.

Syd, I totally agree that Ty is absolutely lovable, and I agree that it is probably his week to go home. He has proven to be one of the most improved dancers in all seasons of this show, IMO.

I personally thought that Melissa and Tony were tonight's big winners, but lots of great dances!
Shawn really pulled it out, and I am amazed she is doing so well at 17 years old.

I am pulling for a Melissa / Tony win this season, even though it may be a long shot. I would love to see Tony get the trophy, and would love to see Melissa rub it in J & M's faces. :)

Revenge is best served.... and all that jazz. lol

Caroline -- what is dial idol?

Caroline said...

LucyGrace...in addition to Louie/Lacey in the opener it was also Jonathon/Anna and Dmitiri/Kym dancing. I think they do this once each year when they go to two dances...and the pros are giving us an overview of the dances we'll see during the show.

Sydney...dial idol is the website www.dialidol.com Basically you can purchase this software for your phone/computer that will force your phone/computer to vote for a number you program. This "power voting" saves people having to redial for hours themselves and it does it faster than humans can...thus generating more votes. Then the people that run the software can measure who you're voting for, how many times you get through, and how many busy signals you get. It puts all the data together and then "predicts" who will be leaving based on all this information. Clearly it has a large margin for error, because it can't take into account all of us voters that don't use the software. But generally speaking over the course of a season it is upwards of 90% accurate. They calculate the data for Idol, DWTS & SYTYCD.

I hope that made sense...but if anyone has other questions (or corrections) I'll do my best to provide more info.

Caroline said...

I definitely thought Melissa/Tony were the best overall last night. I really hope that Tony wins this season...he's worked so hard and this appears to be his best opportunity. And like others...I'd love to see Melissa win and get the positive spotlight she deserves that scummy Jason so rudely ripped away from her.

I'm just not feeling Cheryl/Gilles and I think it's mostly due to the fact that they're trying too hard to be sexy all the time now. It's taken the focus away from the dancing, imo.

I absolutely adore Chelsie/Ty and think they'd win hands down in a personality contest. He's given 100% all the way and she's proven she has the chops to teach a complete novice with decent results.

Shawn/Mark were also good...but it's starting to feel like she's loosing her focus and getting self-conscious. If she battles through that, she has a good chance for F3.

Lil Kim/Derek were good last night...just not as crisp as they usually are. I think she had trouble with two dances and if people really rally around Ty...she may be in trouble tonight.

Hi everyone - I was listening to the radio early this AM and they thought Ty was going home - or maybe Lil Kim. I thought to myself - interesting. I think as long as Melissa can dance - she will win. She did look like an Angel in the 1st dance and her samba was very jiggly. I thought Derek & Kim's salsa was off. It just didn't click for me. I agree with Sydney (I think) that several of the dances seemed to be off.
I love Ty and wish he could dance next week - but I think he is going home.

You have to admire Mark for blocking the camera during the filming of the practice when it seemed as though Shawn may have gotten teary eyed.
For only being able to practice 6 hours a day, we think Shawn rocked it. She did way better on the Paso Doble than I thought she would.

Hey everyone. I know I've been MIA for a couple of weeks, especially last week after my couple Chuck and Julianne got eliminated! I'm expecting in a couple of months and some days I'm just beyond exhausted!

I enjoyed last night's show a lot, and here are my thoughts/observations.

I agree with Carrie Ann that its getting to that point when you've basically just got to point out the flaws, in order to separate what is a very good group of four dancers (sorry Ty!) I love Ty's attitude... he's come further to me than anyone else who started off COMPLETELY out of their element. Most of those others, like Billy Ray, Kenny Maybe, Clyde Drexler (remember him?!) faded away long before now, and those who lasted like Marie Osmond simply did not improve in my view. Ty has really improved and he can keep his head held high. That said, I hope it's him who leaves, and not any of the others.

Lil Kim, to me, is still sort of a bit out of control and her performances vary between pretty okay and fantastic. Still, I'd like to see her in the final three, above Shawn Johnson.

Shawn is also good, and it would be hard to separate her and Kim on talent I think, so it'd come down to personal preference with voters.

I still feel Gilles can win it all, but I agree that last night was over the top. Even for me the rolling on the floor part of that rumba was excessive! I feel like he and Melissa are on fairly even keel in terms of talent, and I think I'd be happy if either of them won.

I think Carrie Ann is excessively hard on Melissa though. You guys should study Tony's face in particular when she's critiquing Melissa. You can tell he's just annoyed that Carrie Ann's trying to just find all the negative. I love Tony, and not since Stacy Keibler has he had a partner capable of taking him all the way, so I know he's working hard and he's excited.

Anyhow, I'll be looking tonight to see what eventually happens. Look forward to reading all of your comments as usual!

Last night was a great night for team Melony! I'm not a big fan of many of the waltz routines, but I did like Mel and Tony's VW. It looked really similar to their earlier waltz though. Their Samba was H-O-T!!! And loved her dress! I would die to have abs like hers. I'm not sure who I was more tickled with... Tony or Mel when they got the 30. Its so much fun to see him get those scores and to see how giddy and happy he is this season.

Shawn did a really good job on the Paso Doble. I haven't liked the Paso's so much this season (other than Lil Kim and Derek's) and hers made me smile. I know we all think that she has that huge teenager texting fan base, but I've seen a couple of things in the media that point to the fact that DWTS doesn't draw that large of a teenage demographic so who knows?

Sydney, I will be so sad if Ty goes home tonight. I know he's not the best dancer of those left but he always cheers me up with his humor/wit and even his dances. Chelsie has done wonders with him this season.

Of the costumes last night, I loved Mel's Samba dress and Shawn's Paso dress. Both were the best they've put them in this season. Shawn's other dress reminded me of the one LT designed for Edyta. And speaking of Edyta, did they give Cheryl one of her dresses for the Rumba???

I also didn't like the Cheryl/Gilles Rumba. Cheryl's trying to hard with the choreography it seems. Every dance doesn't have to have her rubbing up and down Gilles. The roll was just yuck in my opinion.

The majority of the songs were good picks for the dances if we could have done without the singers on them. That was the worst I've ever heard them in one show. I cringed on the Leo Sayer (sp?) and OMG to so many of the others. I get that they need the big band for the ballroom feel but can't they find better singers?

Can't wait til results show and the return of Dance Center tonight. They always crack me up!

My prediction is either Ty or Lil Kim will go home. I think the others have pretty strong fan bases at least to keep them in for this week. Ty might just pull out another shocking comeback if all fans still smart from Len's critiques.

I'm just not feeling Cheryl/Gilles and I think it's mostly due to the fact that they're trying too hard to be sexy all the time now. It's taken the focus away from the dancing, imo.

I agree with your assement on this. I think one of the judges said he is not doing as well now. I did not like the rolling on the floor last night either.

becky said...

Can you believge it? Ty is here another week. Sydney, are you doing the Happy Beagle Dance?

Sydney said...

wow -- giant upset. I thought ty would go for sure, as we all did. It was his time. I guess his charm won over not only me but lots of people. I have not voted before like I've voted for him, but I didn't vote this week thinking it was a shoe in. I bet fans of lil Kim did the same.

On to watching Rescue Me on FX....

Yes Margo, it's terribly sad. Sharon was such a light, funny presence no matter if she wasn't feeling well, and I have missed her comments.

Tomorrow Wednesday at 11 EST is her funeral, and we all thought we'd change our Avitars to a hibiscus (a favorite flower of hers) and leave a comment on Jackie's at that time.

The show tonight shows this is who the public likes and the four thst sre left sre the one's most popular it has little to do with the danicing ability of the stars... GO Shawn!!!! and Melissa!!! I hope one of them wins!! Toni..

I forgot to mention this the other day...but during the Stars of Dance performance on Tues night (the one in the big Macy's star)...one of the dancers was Travis from S2 of SYTYCD. They really do love these kids on DWTS.

I also read today that Kherington, from this past season of SYTYCD, is gonna be in the remake of Fame coming out in Sept.

Do you know what it is. No, don't tell me... I want to wait... No.. DO tell me..

Back to DWTS... do you guys realize you never told us who went home. I have two conflicts with the second night of DWTS, so I wait to see what you guys tell us. I'm going to go look elsewhere, cause I really don't know yet...

my wv is whersuan... Yep..you fell down on the job...

So, Lil Kym was voted off. Sorry guys, but as much as I like Ty, this is a competition for the best dancer and you have to admit that Kym was 100 times better than Ty. She may not have ultimately won, since I think the competitors are exceptional this year, but she deserved the chance.

What happens if Ty beats out Gilles or Melissa next week. It just isn't fair. I'm just saying ...

Hi peeps--

They are doing a really nice thing which I don't think they've done before. To go through all the dances the remaining couples have done and let them comment all through it.

i also liked that they did kids couples in the past seasons and this year, let the new possible dancing expert audition for us to choose. It's much improved from past filler that was skimpy.

Sydney said...

meb -- that's true, but they judges keep saying that this competition is all about taking someone who can't dance and watching them improve, stumble and improve and that he has done this the most. Maybe that influences the votes. Also, i assumed that Lil Kim would never be threatened so I never voted for her.. and that is a key mistake on Idol. Maybe more people did that and it was also a factor.

becky said...

Hey, just got home. Hubby took me out to eat tonight. So, who has danced and how have they done?

Sydney said...

MELISSA -- perfecto!

She is really graceful. Legs, arms. Remarkable grace.

Anonymous said...

Terific job, Mellisa and Tony! The judges have to love it.

I always liked the quick step, every since Fred and Ginger.

Good scores -- but how have the others done?

becky said...

Oops, Anonymous is me. I didn't do something correctly.

becky said...

Gilles and Cheryl are beautiful. Loved Johnaton helping them.

It was great seeing them do just lovely dancing without trying to be sexy.

Bruno is drooling! LOL at Len's sitting down standing ovation.

becky said...

Am I talking to myself -- again?

Sydney said...

well, everyone's doing a great job tonight. I was surprised Gilles and Cheryl got such accolades... though we did get lost in the fantasy, adn that white flowy poofy dress added a lot to it.

Shawn was fabulous in that tango! Perfection again!

Sydney said...

Nope -- I am trying to do homework while I watch and live blog. Not such a great combo, eh?

Where is everyone else I wonder? Thanks for keeping the flame with me Becky. Actually they are probably strictly WATCHING the show. I do miss stuff while blogging, but the live blogging is just too fun.

Sydney said...

ugh, Tye looked akward through that dance. We know he's gone tomorrow, right?

becky said...

Not real bad for Ty and Chelsea. I adore him. But unless the fans come through I think he will go home.

becky said...

Syd, I confess, I gave him two of my votes again this week.

becky said...

ROFLMPimpO Melissa's parents not only were there in the audience -- they gave an interview. Am I the only one who thinks they have rallied to the shows just to show Jason -- kind of like sticking out their tongue at him.

becky said...

Not bad scores for Melissa and Tony.

Sydney said...

Good point Becky! I was thinking I didn't recognise him. Kind of gives more fuel to the rumor that it was planned that Melissa got dumped... and the parents would not want to participate in that. But that would mean Melissa knew too, and I don't think she did on the night of the proposal. But WTF doI know?

Ugh, bachelorette ad right now.

Sydney said...

well Gilles is in for the next time, we are sure of it.

yay, I'm glad!

becky said...

Sydney, I think the network and the Jerk had it planned. I don't think Melissa or her parents were aware of it. I think they refused to meet Jason because they objected to her being on the show.

I wonder if Melissa told her friends and that is why they said they had never met the parents? Or maybe Melissa wasn't as "taken" with Jason as she acted and had told her parents.

Wonderful dance Gilles and Cheryl. Sexy without making you want to throw up.

Sydney said...

darn, now Shawn didn't do so well, and Ty is doing a great second dance. I was going to just give all my votes to Gilles, as he is so emotional, hoping for that mirror ball. Melissa is great but it does bore me a little. HMMM!! love everyone, can see flaws in everyone! WHAT TO DO !?!?

(good problem to have!)

dla said...

OK, good show tonight!

Still believe the win will go to either Gilles or Melissa, and it will depend on who BRINGS IT next week. Both choreography and performance will be key.

Ty is absolutely adorable, but I believe he should be leaving this week.

I gave 4 votes to Melissa and the last vote to Gilles.

Also LOVE LOVE LOVE Mel's parents doing the interview. :)

I believe that Len's valium was wearing off by the end of the second round... His scores dropped dropped dropped along with his mood. lol

gaylos said...

Good morning everyone! How are you doing today? Thought I'd try to post in advance of the results show.

Meb, you made me laugh with your "I want to know... no WAIT! I don't" post! Hahahah! And yes, I guess I'm going to have a baby "on" Jackie's blog... lol!!! I actually don't know what I'm having, so I'll be surprised as well!

I'm due right around the end of July, and I am hoping that Big Brother will take me through the first couple sleepless months! I'll be watching and posting... especially as Julie is herself expecting!

Back to DWTS. I've thrown my support behind Gilles from day one, even though I had Julianne and Chuck in the pool. I am soooooo glad that he and Cheryl dialed down the sex appeal this week, and just stuck to DANCING... That's what they do best...

That said, I'm fearful for him. You know how it goes... people think "Oh he's got a perfect 60, so he's safe, I'll give my votes to someone who needs it more". And that's how he will go home. I hope that doesn't happen tonight, but there are no guarantees. I don't live in the US so I can't vote, but I think I would have voted 4 times for Gilles and once for Melissa.

Shawn is really great as well, but as I said I think it comes to down personal preferences at this point. I don't think anyone is that much better than anyone else (with the exception of Ty)... it's just who you prefer.

Melissa didn't look her best last night, but again, as I commented before... I am convinced Carrie Ann sort of "has it in" for her. She just ALWAYS has to find a way to pick on some little thing. I mean, can you look at Melissa when she dances and say her soul is not in the dance??!! Come on!

Ty... bless his heart... I wish people would let him go already. I love him, and yes he's come far... but it's TIME people... He's not a great as the others. That said, I do respect people's rights to vote for whom they please... as long as Gilles isn't sent home before the final, I don't really care who else makes it... lol!

We'll see what happens tonight!

RBennie said...

While I thought the show last night was good. For me personally it has lost some of its spark with the loss of Lil Kim. You kind of never knew what to expect from a Kim and Derek performance and I felt great anticipation to see what they would do. Gilles, Melissa and Shawn were all great last night, but none of the performances blew me away or are particularly memorable. While I can't help but love Ty - don't know what it is about him - it's about 2 weeks past time for him to go home. I will not be surprised though, if he stays and one of the other 3 goes home.

Margo said...

I didn't get to watch last night as I was out to a lovely dinner with friends. I got home late and did not have time to watch 2 hours of dancing. I'm going to A Chorus Line tonight so I won't get to watch tonight either. I will FF to the end on my Tivo recording to see who goes home.
I'll check in here tomorrow with my pool update.

It seemed to me that Melissa is being pushed out and Shawn is being pushed up, score-wise. I believe the judges are trying to get a Gilles/Shawn finale going here. Shawn is doing great for a 17 year-old, but she does not have the grace that Melissa shows.

becky said...

Margo, A Chorus Line is one of my favorite plays. I almost spit when the girl started singing T@ts and A$$.

Anon, I agree that the judges seem to be pushing Shawn over the others. She is good, fantastic for a 17 year old, but not in the same league as Melissa and Gilles.

becky said...

Well, the right one is going home. Ty is adorable, but he is the one who should go this week.

Love the swing around with Chelsea in his arms. What a doll he is. I can see why Jewel is taken with him.

Night all.

joy n said...

Ty is a good guy, but it's past his time to go.

Shawn is a sweet girl but she really has little grace on the floor. She's great at gymnastics and good at this dancing but her thick muscular legs keep her from looking graceful on the floor. She tends to look stiff-legged at times.

I think Gilles will win, and should, but Melissa belongs in the final two. IMO.

As anon said, they seem to be pushing Shawn's scores higher and Melissa's lower.

May 10, 2009
I would just like to say thank you to all of you who have shared your condolences with our family. I am Sharon's only niece Katie, daughter of Connie. We all have had a huge loss, but knowing that so many people besides us got to enjoy her and get to know her wonderful personality is very comforting in this time. Everyone will miss her greatly, but after being with her the past year, I know that she is now free from pain, the way she deserves to be. I second that dla! I didn't comment this week so I could pay attention to the dances. I thought they all did great. Some were overscored and some underscored for me at least.

It should be a spectacular finale next week, and I can't wait. It seems the majority of us had this final 3 pegged from the start, so its nice to see all of them there.

Here's to next week... cheers!

I understand the feeling that the winner should not be eligible for the fan vote, but given that both the winner and the fan vote winner are revealed at the same show on the same night, how could the winner be excluded from eligibility without it being revealed who won before hand?

Isn't the fan vote open for a few days before the finale? So how would the winner be excluded from contention when the winner hasn't been revealed yet? I'm just wondering, so if anyone knows please clue me in.

Ooops... guys I just realised I posted my Survivor comment on the wrong listing. Please excuse me... but since I've already done so, can anyone shed some light on the whole $100,000 fan favourite prize? Thanks...

Caroline said...

gaylos....here's how I think it could be done fairly easily.

Take this group for example...the 3 highest vote getters were Taj, JT and Sierra. They announce JT as the winner of the million at the start of the reunion show. They don't reveal the fan vote until almost the end of the reunion show. Plenty of time to make adjustments. If they already are going to announce the Top 3...then just make JT ineligible and give it to whomever got the 2nd most votes. Presumably this time it was Taj. If the person that receives the most votes doesn't win the million...then they still win the fan prize. Simple enough, imo.

gaylos said...Ooops... guys I just realised I posted my Survivor comment on the wrong listing. Please excuse me... but since I've already done so, can anyone shed some light on the whole $100,000 fan favourite prize? Thanks...

Gaylos, the live show is not immediatey after the last tribal council vote. They know who won the million. So, they could tell the contestants that "JT" won the million, and was the fan favorite. However since the winner is no longer elgible to win the fan favorite $100,000, the money will go to the first runner up.

Or, they could just announce the second place name as the fan favorite. Who would know the difference.

Thanks for all you do! You ROCK!

Anonymous said...

I think part of the difference between Melissa and Shawn's freestlye was that Mark incorporated more dancing between the tricks than Tony did. I think Shark rocked it on the freestyle and were not as good in the paso, which the score reflected.
Gilles' freestyle--since he really didn't start dancing until it was about halfway over. How much say does the celebrity have in song choice? At some point, couldn't Gilles have asked to try another song or concept or something?
The reason for the freestyle scores definitely had to do with the pros, not the celebrities. While I may be the only one saying so, GO SHAWN!

RBennie said...

I didn't like Gilles and Cheryl's freestyle because it was all about Cheryl. The idea is to showcase the celebrity. He was standing in back of her for most of the dance. I liked Tony and Melissa's freestyle, but thought they needed a little more dancing and less tricks. Same for Shawn and Mark, although they did dance a little more. Overall, all 3 dances were a disappointment. I thought Gilles was the best in the passo - no surprise there.

Caroline said...

Holly Madison and Denise Richards did more dancing in their first week than Gilles did in his freestyle last night.

If that was supposed to show me what he learned this season...it showed me he learned absolutely squat! Yet the judges still fawn all over him. Cheryl should be ashamed of herself and it would be unfortunate to reward her for this disgrace.

Tony did not choreograph to Melissa's strengths and that was unfortunate. What they did was fine...but I expected much more from them. She wants the win so badly and I'm just not sure this was enough. But they still got my votes :-) mostly cause Tony is so damn adorable and tries so hard every season.

Shawn was the star of the night. You could clearly pick out major dance moves from many of the dances covered this season in her freestyle. Mark did a much better job with the choreography. It most likely wasn't enough for the win...but she can leave with her head held high...she was fantastic this season.

joy n said...

I loved Gilles Paso Doble also and really believe he deserves to win.

Shawn is sweet but I still think she lacks the look of grace because of her short muscular legs.

I would love to see Melissa come in second because overall this season, she has been fantastic and very graceful. The judges do seem bent on pushing Shawn up a notch and I think it sad that they are doing that.

Some of reality TV is starting to wear thin on me. Having a shoo-in likely winner almost from the start of the season is boring. I love the suspense and some of these shows are losing that. American Idol and this show seem to have the judges openly helping to push their favorites along. The casts of Big Brother are sometimes bottom-of-the-barrel. Celebrity Apprentice was a joke this time around and The Bachelor was a fiasco. The new Bachelorette doesn't appeal to me at all. I wish they'd chosen someone else because I didn't care for her on the last Bachelor.

I live for The Amazing race and Survivor. They are quality reality.

joyn...I'm not for a second gonna quantify this as "quality reality" but if you're looking for something different you should check out "I Survived a Japanese Gameshow". The 2nd season is coming on in July I think.

It's a bunch of Americans participating in silly challenges on a fake Japanese gameshow. It's good for a laugh and never tries to pretend it's more than it is. Just good summer fun.

But I definitely agree with you...DWTS & Idol have been anticlimatic with the judges "pimping" their favorites and even changing the rules (Idol) so they have a better chance at the win.

Thanks Caroline, I'll watch for it this summer.

Anyone here? I skipped out the first hour and watched Taj, Erinne and the farewell at the Ponderosa.

Of course Coach had to read a poem about the adventure. He said he and Tyson should have been in the final two because they were the best warriors.

Boy that quick step with next year's new teacher looked like it was nothin for them to do!

Darn! I didn't get around to voting of all times! I want Gilles to win.

I love Shawn and Melissa is so graceful but they all are winners in their own way.

I think Gilles will win and deservedly so. He's so good and so darn sexy. I'd really love to see Melissa come in second because I think she deserves that honor.

I kind of think Lil' Kim should still be there for third.

hey Joy -- Wow, the gomedienne guy should not have said I wonder if you'll come in second in this contest too! OUCH

Well, Shawn looked more grown up, graceful and truly sensual on that dance she just did than ever before. She really has gone from gymnastic precision to womanly gracefulness and flow.

Grown from a cute kid into a woman before our eyes.

It is hard for someone who does not have the limb length of Melissa to look as good in these ballroom dances where those long lines are critical. I really think she should be proud of herself!

Anyone think there has been a teeny bit of love going on between she and Mark?
