Jeffrey Ross was inappropriate and mean. There was no need for his vulgarity and hurtful comments.
The judges fixed it yesterday so that even if Melissa gets all tens tonight, she'll still be a point behind Shawn.

Looks like they are giving all the dancers tens. Didn't they do that last year.
I think that Gilles deserves the trophy. I would sort of like to see Melissa win.

Shawn is sweet and the all-American girl and she has improved tremendously over the whole season but I still think Melissa is a better dancer and much more graceful overall.

Well, we knew that Melissa would come in third.
I hope the winner is Gilles. If it isn't, ABC will have gotten another black mark.
Maybe ABC didn't want Melissa to be second since she was second -- in a way on the Bachelor.

Crap! Well we knew the judges were slanting it that way. I am turning off the TV. She didn't deserve to win. It reminds me of the first season when the judges gave it to the soap opera star. People made such a fuss that they had a do over and the man (forget his name) won.
I guess Gilles should have kissed Bruno two weeks ago. Sydney, I don't think it would have mattered if you voted last night. The judges had made up their minds.
I don't believe in this show anymore. The judges pushed for this and got it.
Gilles should have had this win without a doubt.
Well, I thought it was Gilles for sure... but they had less than 1% between the #1& #2 spot...

Well, Gilles didn't need to win to have all of this boost his career -- have people know him and let the money in Hollywood see that he can bring in the fans. Hopefully he'll be given a shot at real roles so he can support his kids.
I will be interested to see what Melissa does next. I'm sure she will be-- and already has been -- fielding offers for a variety of things... entertainment reporter, variety show, playboy contract (which she will turn down, lol).

I think they started planning this when they got rid of Lil' Kim instead of Shawn.

And they gave 30's tonight for each dance when I did see mistakes or less sync and passion than I saw when they each did them the first time... with the exception of Shawn... they did a good job tonight... that was my first comment or so. But in a season as a whole...
Jeffrey Ross should never be allowed on DWTS again. It was cruel and not fitting for broadcast TV. Very low class humor. Listen to the silence from the studio and look at the shocked look on the faces of the audience. I am mortified! I won't let it spoil the show, but it is pushing it.
Agreed David --maybe at the staff wrap party but it really doesn't fit the mood of the show. Since he was a dancer on it, I guess they let him do his roasting instead of dancing... and everyone knows that roasting is cruel... It is OK for comedy Central or the old days of Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. and Jerry Lewis when they all were great buddies and really were witty about it.
Shawn may end up a sports commentator.
Something like you mentioned, Sydney, would be great for Melissa as long as she doesn't try acting. I don't think she'd do very well at that but I can see her doing entertainment reporting.
Gilles will hopefully have some acting offers coming his way. I didn't see that Sex In The City movie, but sure wish I'd seen his little clothes-off scene. The DOL in me is coming out again just thinking about that.
Great competitors. Great dancers. Wonderful work ethic. The finalists were fantastic. While I wanted Melissa to win and thought she was great, Giles was the consistent top performer in all facets - technical execution, musicality, performance. Shawn showed great improvement and we all congratulate her.

I think only in a platonic manner...otherwise I'd bet Mark's girlfriend isn't too happy. He's been dating Joanna Pacitti for awhile now...the girl that got disqualified from Idol this season cause she was BFF with an executive producer of the show.
I'm honestly not surprised that Shawn won. Although Gilles & Melissa were great, they started out that way. Shawn showed the most improvement throughout the course of the season and that's what a lot of people look for. I'm also willing to bet she picked up a bunch of Ty votes. Assuming a lot of Ty people based this week's vote on this week's performances...I definitely think Shawn was the best on Monday night.
All 3 finalists were great and should be proud of themselves and their accomplishments!
It's been another fun season of blogging and critiques with a great group of people. Bring on Big Brother!
I'm surprised that Shawn won, but I'm ok with it. She really did the best dance Monday night and deserved the 10's, and I wanted Mark to finally get someone he could win with.
Could it be that the judges didn't want Cheryl to win a third time? Not fair, but if we're blaming the judges, then that's a possible.
I may be naive, but I believe the judges give the 30's to each contestant regardless of performance because they allow the final votes to come in and determine the winner. Shawn got voted on for her Monday night performance, and she was the best of the night, so she got the most votes. My opinion, and I'm sticking to it. Smile...
My congrats to Shawn. I was truly surprised that she won, but I was happy for her and even more so for Mark. Love that boy. Yes, Gilles and Melissa were both better dancers than Shawn, but they started from week 1 being very good. I saw only a little improvement on Melissa's part and pretty much none on Gilles. Shawn improved steadily from week to week and I think that is what the judges and America likes to see. Am I the only one who thought Jeff Ross was funny? I know it's not what we are used to seeing on our very PG DWTS, but that is what a roast is - you insult everyone and boy did he do a good job of it, LOL. When he said he googled the finalists names and it said maybe Yahoo knows, I almost fell on the floor. Yes, I do have a sick sense of humor, sorry. I think the judges scoring was on the money on Monday and since the all got 30s last night, that didn't change the outcome at all. What it came down to is that Shawn had that slight bit more fan support. This is certainly not the first time that the obvious choice for winner did not win - anyone remember Mario Lopez?
I read on this discussion space that on Monday night serveral of you split your votes between Melissa and Gilles. Shawn's fans did not split their votes. I don't think they pushed Shawn or that the judges slanted it towards Shawn or other conspiracy theories floating around. Perhaps Shawn won because her fans are more single minded. WAY TO GO SHAWN! What a role model. Since I am in no way a dancer, I thought they all did a terrific job.
Len was on (taped last night) Access Hollywood today and said he was very surprised that Shawn won. He said Gilles should have won.
He also said he had just come from the after party and had been there only ten minutes which was nine minutes longer than he'd stayed at last year's. Guess he's always a grouch.
Shawn didn't show at the party, but her parents did. Odd.
joyn... that is strange that Shawn didn't show but her parents did. I know she's young, but this was her party... Oh well... on to So You Think You Can Dance.
