Big Brother 16: HoH and Nominations Show Blog Party - August 24
Good evening! The show will be starting on time here on the East Coast. A miracle, I say! As it airs, I'll update this post with the major happenings. Refresh the page to get the latest.
But you know where the party is, right? Let's head to the comments area!
Nicole is back. Donny is happy. He fills her in on some of the happenings.
A segment on Donny flashbacks talking to others trying to get them to flip, done in odd low saturation. Looks weird. Make them stop that.
HoH comp time, lace up your gloves. They're all in boxing gear. Boxing event over six rounds, figure out day event happened on. They punch buttons to come up with the correct day of the events. Punching for Days!
Nicole eliminated in the first round. Victoria out next. Christine out. Interesting, all three girls out in a row! Caleb out next. Derrick out. It's between Cody and Donny. Sigh. As we live feeders know, Cody wins.
Derrick is happy as Cody won't nominate his best bud, plus no blood on his hands. Nicole is devastated.
Who wants to see my HoH room? And blah-blah-blah ...
Nicole tries to talk to Cody. He wants Donny out. But he's not really taking the bait entirely. He files it away for future reference. In talking with Derrick, Cody tells him he'd honestly rather Nicole stay in the game than Christine. They both get off on an anti-Christine tangent. But neither suggest anything other than a Donny/Nicole nomination for this week.
Donny, in a bad move, wakes Cody up to plea his case. Donny warns Cody the others will keep Victoria over him (Cody) as everyone could win against her. He offers to work with Cody. Derrick tried to feel Donny out to no avail.
That's not to be confused with Christine trying to feel Cody up, of course.
Nominations time -- Cody nominates Nicole and Donny. Nicole, loves her, be amazing. Donny, lot of chatter, immediate threat.
Off Topic: That Was the Week It Was - August 24, 2014
Good morning! Welcome to my weekly off television topic post which reflects on the week gone by in both words and photographs I've taken along the way. There is no television content in this post and it's something I do weekly year 'round. If you're looking for Big Brother content, my latest can be found right here at this link.
Another week down. Another week with nothing really exciting going on -- just working, blogging and giving a certain cat his required devotion. Here's some quickie random thoughts on the week:
At sunset last night. The day was cloudy and drizzly but cleared up enough for a very nice sunset.
People really shouldn't sleep near me on the train! This guy is so cool that his bike has blue tires. I noticed his legs are shaved. I would guess for aerodynamics. Of course. I'm sitting in the vestibule level handicapped/bike/etc. section as I had a bunch of stuff I bought at Target with me and I didn't want to lug it up and down the train stairs. Although the seats are padded there, the seats in the main section of the cars are more comfortable. Raritan Valley Line, NJ Transit.
A busy bee at the Bridgewater Train Station.
It's Saturday evening and I'm home. Well, not really home. I might seem to spend a lot of time at the Plainfield Train Station, but I certainly don't live there!

Another week down. Another week with nothing really exciting going on -- just working, blogging and giving a certain cat his required devotion. Here's some quickie random thoughts on the week:
- I really really need a vacation. I have two four-day work weeks ahead of me. But that's not good enough. I want vacation.
- Without endurance comps and a predictable season at hand, BB isn't as financially good for me this season as in the past. Few people are motivated to donate via Paypal although the ad income is just about the same as other years. Yet I'm still working as much at it. Sigh. If I didn't enjoy the community I built, I'd be tempted to give it up. It's almost like having a full-time job atop a full-time "real" job. I'm so tired!
- It seemed to rain a lot this week. We had another one of those bizarre three-hour long thunderstorms on Thursday night. I don't recall having that long of a thunderstorm ever, yet we've had more than a few of them this year.
- I, for one, am enjoying a rather mild temperature summer. Alas, they're predicting a bad winter for around here. I can take the cold -- I know how to dress properly. I just can't deal with ice and snow on the sidewalks and streets!
- I still have no clue who the new upstairs neighbor is. Nor do I have any idea male or female. It seems to be one person -- always a plus in my mind! No kids (which I don't know why they let people with children in one bedroom apartments when their own rules say no more than two people in a one bedroom). I hear footsteps and occasional music. I don't recognize the music. It's not Mexican Polka, nor classic rock or classical. It has a beat. I'm thinking either pop or rap played rather low. He/she hasn't flooded my bathroom. All is good.

| Gotta know when to hold |
Here's the latest from inside that Big Brother House of Card Sharks:
- Victoria is seriously having issues with her wisdom teeth. At one point, BB took her out and gave her an IV. She's on antibiotics and they've apparently notified her mother. Not only does she feel terrible, she feels terrible about being shown sick on the show.
- Victoria had passed out on the bathroom floor and was found by Nicole. Nicole immediately called Derrick to help her. Nope, not Caleb, Cody, Frankie or even Donny. She called Derrick to help without skipping a beat. That in itself kind of shows the reputation that Derrick has built in the house.
- Derrick later tried to make Victoria feel better by calling her his favorite chipmunk.
- It didn't work.
- No way does she want to leave. But she really wants to feel better!
- However, for a while there it looked like she might get pulled from the house.
- Even when (possibly IF) the PoV comp would be held got put on hold while Victoria's future in the game was uncertain.
- Donny didn't want the comp to go on without her.
- In other news, Team America was apparently given the next mission and we had nothing to do with it. They have to come up with their own (worthy) mission, complete it and then America will decide if it was worthy of a mission accomplished money win.
- Donny asked Derrick if he thought that keeping TA together would be enough of a task. In other words, keep Donny from going home.
- Well, that would be nice. But I personally don't think all of America would vote it as worthy.
- Of course, they were soon interrupted.
- I couldn't live in that house with people just bursting into rooms without knocking!
- Caleb said that if Frankie mentions his schools in Africa charity again, he'll say his own winnings will go to wounded warriors from the United States.
- He's a bit late in saying that as he's already said how he's going to spend a fortune on cars and the good life.
- BB has gotten to the point now they feel they have to tell this bunch o' slobs to clean the bathroom.
- @@
- (Hoarders anyone?)
- Christine, Derrick and Frankie were the players picked for the PoV comp. I'm not sure if Victoria was even in the running for it although they brought her back to the house.
- Derrick told Frankie that Donny's been throwing them under the bus and needs to go.
- In a rare moment in which I agree with Frankie, he said they've been doing the same to Donny.
- Oh my.
- I agree with Frankie. I must be running a fever!
- The veto comp was the hold/fold one with a luxury prize for the winner and two guests.
- Nope, they can't leave the house.
- In the HoH room, there will be a screening of the new CBS series Scorpion complete with popcorn and beverages.
- Cody won and selected Donny and Nicole to be his guests.
- Aw, ain't that sweet?
- Nope, not really.
- It keeps them from talking game while Derrick can babysit Caleb, Christine and Frankie.
- Ill Victoria needs no babysitter.
- Now they're all (even Derrick) back to thinking that Donny is more than a mere groundskeeper.
- Much of the hours after the comp were spent rehashing the comp. Supposedly, once Christine and Derrick figured out Cody could win, they abandoned their own hopes of winning and played for him to win.
- Derrick had a long heart to heart talk with Donny about life and the game.
- He cried afterwards.
- That's Derrick crying, not Donny.
- He thinks it would sketchy for them (him and Frankie) to campaign to keep Donny this week when Caleb, Cody and Christine so want him out. Thus, Derrick is in a dilemma.
- Frankie wants to create a Broadway type play for the TA mission.
- Oh, geez. I hope not!
- Lots of miscellaneous conversations, but little game talk.
- Things aren't looking too good for Donny now.

| Pretending to listen to music |
No, I haven't been really ignoring you. Really. I guess it's a mix of boredom and predictability affecting my posting. But here's my take on the latest inside that Big Brother House of Stick People:
- You know Cody won HoH.
- You know Cody surprised us all by putting Donny and Nicole on the block.
- Oh, they also made Donny a Have Not and Nicole volunteered to be one.
- Did you know Frankie has a "famous" sister?
- I listened to a wise and pithy conversation regarding the pros and cons of Lowes vs. Home Depot vs. Amazon.
- Caleb is still sure Donny is something big military -- perhaps a Silver or Bronze Star recipient.
- Derrick, who has said before that he believes Donny is indeed a groundskeeper, played along with Caleb's visions.
- Cody and Derrick have noticed they can't be alone without either Frankie or Christine bursting in.
- They discussed if Donny or Nicole come off the block putting Frankie up.
- But they don't think they'd have the votes to send him packing, Caleb would be mad, but Christine would just crumble and float their way. Plus it would leave the Donny/Nicole duo intact and Christine might just float that way.
- They built stick houses.
- Nicole tried her best to convince them that she should stay.
- However, that just served to work against her even more.
- They're still going on about all the "lies" Nicole tells.
- Which, as we know, are mostly truths.
- BUT THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
- Frankie continues to be too much over the top with his squealing. You'd think he was the wild boar Caleb killed with his teeth (whatever, literary license going on here) pre-season.
- Frankie makes all the gay men I've known for decades look macho. He needs to turn it down. The more he acts, the more it comes across as acting.
- Bad acting, too.
- Derrick continues to push for the Nicole out rather than Donny this week. He says Nicole is a more dangerous competitor -- she wins comps, has a good social game while Donny wins comps, but his social game is lacking.
- The boys wrestled. So Frankie had to jump in.
- Cody and Christine talked about how much Donny disgusts them.
- Hey, I could really go off on a tangent about how much Christine disgusts me!
- But I refuse to demean myself by being so profane.
- Victoria's wisdom teeth issues are making her face swell up.
- Cody knows Derrick wants to send Nicole out this week, but he really wants Donny to go. He thinks Donny picks on him.
- He's also tired of Donny winning comps.
- Derrick thinks a lot of people are rooting for Donny because he's the underdog. (Yes, there are, but maybe not totally for that reason.)
- He also says, as a fan of the show, if an alliance were ruling the game such as they are, he'd be mad because it's so predictable.
- Yes, he's right.
- Christine's angry that Julie Chen called her out on the live show for throwing the comp.
- Too bad, so sad.
- That's about it for here. They're sleeping.
