'Dancing With the Stars' - Fall 2007 Season - Blog Discussion Post Two

Due to popular request, I'm putting up an additional DWTS blog discussion post for the remainder of the season as the comments in the other one were getting unwieldy.

The official show website is here.

This season's original discussion post can be found here and I invite you to bring over any ongoing discussions you wish from the older post.

The original blog discussion post is located here.
AOL's feature page for Dancing With the Stars is right here.
The TV Squad reviews for the show can be found here.
The SirLinksAlot page for the show is here (lots of great links).

THANK YOU JACKIE!!! The other post was getting pretty long. Just watched Sabrina/Mark on The View. After they danced she started crying...she said they weren't ready to be done dancing together. Skirted around the question when asked about their personal relationship.

Anonymous said...

Thank you Jackie..this was needed!!! Sorry all not sad Sabrina is gone...just something about her that rubbed me wrong...

Thanks for making it a lot easier to post and read comments for us DWTS fans

Thanks for the new post Jackie. I'm sorry that Sabrina is gone, she was my favorite. All my votes will now be going to Mel and Maks.

Anonymous said...

Thank you,Jackie, for the new posting place!

I am kind of sad that Sabrina got voted off. She wasn't my favorite, either, but I thought that with the quality of their dance, they pushed the other "good" dancers to strive to be just a little better. And Mark was a great choreographer. I just didn't want her to win because I thought she didn't "shade" her dances when called for. She seemed to have only one way to dance and that was to attack it,full speed ahead and some dances just shouldn't be danced that way.Just as Jane only seems able to dance in slow mode, she's very boring for me to watch.

meb said...

Me too delee... didn't care if Sabrina stayed a little longer, but I did not want her to win.

I'm leaning more toward Mel and Maxsim also rbennie. He is adorable!

Jackie-

Thanks. You're the best.

Mel B. is a very good dancer who happens to think she doesn't need to rehearse as much as anyone else and doesn't mind saying so. She got 30 for her Paso Doble even though she made three subtle errors. This, on top of the undeserved 30 she got last week for her Rumba. It seems obvious to me that she is going to win this, whether she deserves to or not.

No more comments from me on this show. I'm done.

RBennie said...

Joy N. - I hope you will keep watching, I enjoy your comments. If I can keep watching after Sabrina's shocking early departure, so can you.

Here's my two cents on last night's show.

I thought Marie did surprisingly well, both her dances were alot of fun. I am concerned about her stamina though. She looked like she was ready to keel over again.

For me, Helio has peaked. He is not any better now than he was the first week. His samba was definitely better than his first dance (which I can't even remember).

Jennie, Jennie, Jennie - I'm sorry but I'm just not loving Jennie. I do believe she has improved alot, but she always looks so petrified and there were several missteps in both her routines. There was no chemistry in that rumba. It surprises me that an actress shows so little self confidence.

I think Carrie Ann said it best when she said Jane dances "dainty". There is no passion in her dancing and no "wow factor".

Mel's fox trot looked somewhat awkward and was definitely not her best dance. I thought she made up for it with a kick ass paso doble, although I don't think it warranted a perfect score.

I think Cameron has improved alot, but they are doing more leaping and flipping then they are dancing lately.

Who should go home? My vote would be for Jane or Jennie.

Thanks Meb, I guess I got my Irish up again last night. I will add this, I loved Len's "joke" about the prez!

I just heard on TV's Entertainment News that Marie Osmonds father, George died. She and her brother, Donny are on their way back to Utah.

I read on article on TVSQUAD not long ago that this seasons show is said to be cursed. I'm beginning to wonder.

joy n said...

Marie's father died this AM at the age of 90. Her mother died three years ago at the age of 87. Needless to say, Marie will not be on the elimination show tonight.
Her parents, IMO, raised a fine family.

That article about the supposed curse (dated 11-2-07 on TVSQUAD) mentions Jenny Garth falling, Marie passing out, Jane's mother passing away, and Jane getting food poisoning. The writer also mentions, Jane "almost" losing her house in the California fires and Sabrina being sent home as not part of the curse, though some are counting them as such.

I will say there has been more sadness this season.

RBennie said...

Such sad news about Marie's Dad. It's true, a lot of stuff has happened this season (mostly bad unfortunately).

Here's my two cents on last night's show.

Me: I agree with most of what you posted. Thanks, it cuts down on how much I have to type! LOL

RB: I thought Marie did surprisingly well, both her dances were a lot of fun. I am concerned about her stamina though. She looked like she was ready to keel over again.

Me: I think her looking like she was about to keel over again was nerves on what the judges would say. They all knew the judging would be harder from this point on. Like Marie said, with eight kids she is used to no sleep! Now that blew my mind. EIGHT KIDS!! I was very impressed with both of her dances this week.

RB: For me, Helio has peaked. He is not any better now than he was the first week. His samba was definitely better than his first dance (which I can't even remember).

Me: I thought the same thing last week, that he had peaked. I did like both of his dances this week. Or at least better than some of them.

RBennie: Jennie, Jennie, Jennie - I'm sorry but I'm just not loving Jennie.

Me: I agree with you. She is another one who is as bland as oatmeal to me. She is not any better than Jane.

RB: Carrie Ann said it best when she said Jane dances "dainty". There is no passion in her dancing and no "wow factor".

Me: Another bland one. I voted for her to stay before, but she is the same with every dance ... no matter what it is. I did think she did a better job this week.

RB: Mel's fox trot looked somewhat awkward and was definitely not her best dance. I thought she made up for it with a kick ass paso doble, although I don't think it warranted a perfect score.

Me: In complete agreement here. I think the judges are trying to make sure she doesn't go home this week. I sort of feel that the judges are jamming Mel and Jenny down our throats.

RB: I think Cameron has improved a lot, but they are doing more leaping and flipping then they are dancing lately.

Me: He does not impress me at all. And we all know what I think of his partner.

Looking back over the remaining dancers, I don't really have a favorite right now.

RB: Who should go home? My vote would be for Jane or Jennie.

Me: My vote would be Cameron or Jane.

I heard the news about Marie's father. It has to be hard on her.

Now, AOL is calling it "The Curse of Tom Burgeron". I don't get the connection. He's made America's Funniest Home Videos a success again. Anybody got any ideas?

Anonymous said...

I felt badly that Sabrina left too because I enjoyed watching her dance (and lose weighg). But she and Mel are both ringers...they dance professionally...not ballroom but they dance on stage in front of audiences. I'm for Helio who drives a race car and works very hard each week...even Cam with his bad hips works very hard. I love Jane but agree with everyone that she's too dainty and doesn't bring a "wow" factor. Jennie doesn't do it for me either. I think Mel is a prima dona who doesn't think she needs to work at the dances....I wouldn't mind seeing her go back to her Spice Girls rehearsals full time.

Anonymous said...

Who got kicked off tonight?

RBennie said...

All right, America got it right this week and Jane is gone. I think she did a great job and I was happy to see her on the show, but her time had come (should have been last week though).

I don't find Mel B. to be a prima dona at all. I get a kick out of how she and Maks interact. She and Cameron both have grueling schedules and it amazes me how they can keep up this pace. I think she puts in as much rehearsal time as she humanly can. The rest of the cast don't seem to have much going on right now and can concentrate fully on the competition.

meb said...

It was definitely time for Jane to go. At 56, she's held up well, even if she has had some plastic help along the way. She still looks great.

My sympathies to the Osmond family. Sad that their father didn't make it to the Oprah family show.

joy n.. I don't get the Tom Burgeron "curse" connection either. He is and has been such a natural in all of his shows that he's been on, so how can he be the curse. And besides, I don't believe in curses... they're just having an unusually bad year for the celebs they picked. Simple as that.

By the way joy n... that was rbennie encouraging you to stay, not me, but I'm glad you did. And although I disagree with you re Mel and Max (cause I want Max to win ... he's so cute) I still want you to comment on everything. You always have such good info. And I always go to one of your posts to learn how to spell names. Where would I go if you left????

Caroline said...

I just read an article on EOnline about Sabrina being kicked off last week. In the comments section someone stated that they lived in Wisconsin and that Dancing with the Stars was preempted by Football and didn't start until 11pm. That means that by the time THE SHOW AIRED, not even finished, that voting would have been closed for that section of the country. If this is true, that could explain why Sabrina so unexpectedly went home. If a portion of the Midwest couldn't vote last week, it would have totally skewed results. But this is the only thing I've heard about the show being delayed, so I don't know how much validity there is. Anyone else hear anything?

Anonymous said...

It was time for Jane to go. She was very graceful, but every dance looked like a ballet routine. I think she did a wonderful job, especially to be as much older as she is than the others.

I do love Helio. Hope he stays longer.

joy n said...

rbennie, sorry that I typed the wrong name when I was thanking you yesterday. I appreciate your comments and, you're right, if you can still watch after Sabrina left, so can I.

meb, thank you for letting me know about my error (another senior moment). Also, thank you for your nice comments. I have to admit that Mel B. is probably the best dancer left. Sour grapes doesn't become me. Darn that Irish side of me. And the other half of me is English! I should show some loyalty! But I still love Helio. Love his smile and personality.

I agree with everyone here that it was certainly time foe Jane to go. I also agree it should have been last week.

My grumpy old self will be back to comment next week.

RBennie said...

No worries Joy N. Being one who has senior moments several times a day (and I don't even have the excuse of being a senior), I wasn't going to point out your error. I knew your comment was meant for me. I'm glad to hear that you're sticking with the show.

joy n said...

I didn't catch Jennie's first dance but saw that it earned her a score of 24 Her second dance was, I believe, a Viennese Waltz which was very graceful. Her score: 9-9-9.

Cameron's Viennese Waltz was also graceful and deserved the 9-9-9. His Cha-cha was so-so. 8-8-8.

Marie did a very sexy (for an Osmond) Rumba, but could have made it a bit more exciting. 8-8-8. Then she did a Jive that didn't really look much like a Jive, more like a C/W line dance, it was good, but not great. 8-9-8. I still love her, though. And I loved her dress.

Helio did a beautiful Paso Doble. Very hot! 9-9-9. He followed with an excellent Quickstep. Very good foot movement. 10-10-10. YES!

Mel B. first did a very good Tango and I actually was surprised she didn't get a ten or two. 9-9-9. Then she performed a Mambo which was very, very good except her footwork was off twice, so the 9-10-10 didn't surprise me, either.

JMO

Anonymous said...

Well,Joy,once again I have to agree with all you had to say. I,too, love Helio, even though it would be nice for a woman to win this time. I just love that smile of his and he looks as if he is having the time of his life!I also agree that Mel is probably the best "technical" dancer and she, too, seems to have a great time. Also,we will have to deal with the "wrath of Max" if he doesn't win. And as young as Julianne is,I think she holds her own as a choreographer, even where Max is concerned. So there!

Cameron just does not do it for me.He's one of those...."do the trick and then pose"...kind of dancers for me. I know he tries really hard and he has improved, but nada...not enough. I can see him and,I hope,Jennie in the bottom two.For some reason,I just don't like that girl and don't want her to win, which I don't think she will. Either of them could go and I'd be happy.Marie still hangs in there,I give her props!

meb said...

Sharon... I agree with you about Cameron. What Callie said was his great "holds" is what I think makes him look stupid. Too posed. He is just too stiff. JMO of course. What bothers me is that he thinks he is so great. I have to give Edyta her pink dress in the waltz. It was beautiful even if it did separate and show her butt.

I have mixed emotions about who should win. I, for some reason, am pulling for the pros and the celebs just happen to be good enough to make it worth watching. I love Julianne and I think Max is so cute this year, but you reminded me Sharon, that he does have a "mean streak" about him when things don't go his way.

By the way, have you seen the Jared commercial where they are using the ballroom dancers. Max and Edyta are a couple in it. You barely recognize Edyta because she is fully clothed, including up past the elbows black gloves. I stop what I'm doing everytime it comes on, just to watch. Cool!

RBennie said...

Meb, I saw that commercial for the first time yesterday. It took me a minute to realize who they were, LOL.

Here's my two cents on last night's performances:

Helio & Julianne - I totally missed their paso (too much trying to watch Prison Break at the same time). I thought that Quick step was indeed his best dance yet (although I do think that if you stop watching Julianne and concentrate solely on Helio, he's no more than passably good).

Jennie and Derek - Sorry, I'm still not loving Jennie. Something about her just turns me off completely. I thought that Jive was awful, and I was pleasantly surprised when the judges agreed with me! Joy N. said her second dance was a vienesse waltz, but I think it was supposed to be a fox trot. Maybe that's the problem with her, she's so unmemorable, that we can't even remember what dance she was doing, LOL.

Marie and Jonathan - their rumba wasn't all that sexy, but I do love the way Marie really seems to get into character of each dance. Their jive did look more like a country line dance, but it was fun at least.

Cameron and Edyta - I thought their vienesse waltz was beautiful, but I truly hated that music! He was way too stiff in his cha-cha and there was too much posing.

Okay last but not least, and yes these are my favorites - Mel & Maks - loved their tango! They excel at the "passion" dances. What I like about them is that they seem more evenly matched. I know Maks can dance circles around Mel if he wanted to, but his choreography always really showcases her, as it should. Their mambo was hot, fun and dead on the beat.

Who should go home tonight? IMO - Cameron, Jennie or Marie - any one of those would be fine with me (although I'd really like to see Jennie gone the most).

Anonymous said...

Maks is a quick thinker and if Mel makes a mistake, he just matches her and makes it look like the "mistake" was part of his choreogrphy.

Anonymous said...

Joy said: Helio did a beautiful Paso Doble. Very hot! 9-9-9. He followed with an excellent Quickstep. Very good foot movement. 10-10-10. YES!

AND Sharon said: Cameron just does not do it for me.....Marie still hangs in there,I give her props!

Both of you are on the money from my point of view. Heilo amazed me last night. Just when I thought he had peaked he came out and knocked my socks off! If one of his dances is not picked to showcase tonight, something is wrong in judgesville.

Jenny doesn't do much for me either. And neither does Cameron (I hate his "stare" while he is posing). I know Mel is better thechnically, but I love Heilo. I am also impressed with Marie. Did anyone notice that Donny had tears in his eyes and rolling down his face last night?

I am putting my votes on Heilo! He is like Emmett, he makes me smile just to watch him.

Anonymous said...

Glad to see Helio and Julianne doing the showcase dance, and deservedly so.

Loved seeing Gloria Estefan and that Conga was fantastic!

Marie is safe. I know she probably won't go much farther, but I'm glad she's still there.

Helio is safe. Thank goodness!

I also loved the background stuff on the pros. Interesting.

Mel B. is safe for another week. She should be.

Jenny is safe and Cameron is out.

Next week should be Jenny or Marie. Hopefully, Jenny will go.

AND, Edyta is gone until next season, anyway.

Anonymous said...

That was me. The name thing didn't work again.

RBennie said...

Okay, so I really was hoping for Jennie to be gone, but I'll take Cameron! I just have this nauseous feeling in my stomach that Jennie might win this whole thing, and to me that would be a travesty. Helio and Mel more than deserve to be the final 2. I would be content with either of them winning (although I would prefer Mel). But then my favorite hasn't won since Drew, so I'm not holding my breath, LOL.

Anonymous said...

I was glad it was Edyta....er,Cameron who went last night. But he could have stayed another week if Jennie would have gone. I just don't like her and am glad to see that others share my feelings. Her only saving grace is that Derek is such an amazing partner and choreographer.I even hope that Marie stays next week so she will go. If another upset like Sabrina,I would be soooo upset.

I agree that a woman would be nice as the winner, but why do we have to have all these Brits on "our" show? Don't they have the same show in the U.K.? Well,Helio is from Brazil,so I guess it won't make much of a difference, but I want a "good" dancer to win,not a "so-so" one! And totally off that subject,I hate that tattoo on Mel B's arm!!!JMO

Helio is now the last man "standing".

joy n said...

joy n said...

Now hear that Marie's son is in rehab. Like she doesn't have enough on her plate already.

joy n said...

Marie and Jon up first with the quickstep. Losing that 30 pounds looks good on her! Love the dress! Loved the quickstep, too. I thought they did very well. Even Len said perfect. Good scores. 10-10-09. Darned Bruno!

Mel B. and Maxsim are second with a Viennese Waltz. Don't like her dress. Beautiful dance but a little "different". They have some nice moves. Perfect scores. 10-10-10.

Third are Jenny and Derek with a Tango. Something is off tonight, I think. A totally blank face throughout the dance. Len says she had energy and passion. I didn't see that. Her head turns seemed way too jerky. Her scores? 9-10-9. A little high, I think.

Lastly, (1st round) Helio and Julianne doing a fox trot. Love her dress and his tails! Very elegant dance! He'd better get tens! Bruno says if they don't make the finals, he'll eat his boots. They like it! Scores - 10-10-10. YES!!!

That was the ballroom round. Now for the Latin dances. Love 'em!

Marie and Jon dancing a mambo. Cute dress. Her brothers caught her at the end. Very cute. Missed a couple of steps. Uh-oh! Her scores this time: 9-9-9.

Mel B. and Maxsim doing the Paso Doble this time around. Ugh. Really don't like this outfit. I don't think it as perfect as the judges do, but a very good Paso Doble. 10-10-10.

Jenny and Derek now dancing the Cha-Cha. Her dress pretty but very short. Very nice cha-cha except a moment or two of stiffness here and there. The judges loved it. Her scores: 10-10-10. Hmmmmmmm.

Helio and Julianne, finally, doing the Cha-Cha, also. Perfection! They deserve 10's. 10-10-10.!!!!! They did it!

Totally my opinions. All of it.

Anonymous said...

aAm I the only one who thinks the judges are trying to "stack the deck" to put Jenny in the finals? Also Mel. At least they like Heilo. I know a lot of you really like Mel, but something about her turns me off. At least Edyta is gone.

Delee said...

I prefered Mel's 1st Paso, this time it left me with the blah's.

Helio is perfection.

Jenny and Marie, are interchangable in my book.

Who will win? Guess we need to watch next week. LOL Will they be allowed to do lifts next week?

joy n said...

Try as I might, something about Mel B. turns me off too. I imagine it will be Marie going home tomorrow, though I wish it were Jenny.

Anonymous said...

Oh gosh,I sure hope it is Jennie going home tonight! Again,I will say that I do NOT see what Len sees in her!She was stiff and cardboard-like in the first dance and was that chacha she did anywhere near the one that Helio did????? I think not!She turned me off right from the start of this season, something about her pinched, lemon sucking expression when she thinks they score her too low or offer criticism. She does think she is all that. I love Marie's enthusiasm over her any day. I also didn't think Mel B's paso was as good as the previous one.

I think a dance off between Helio and Mel will be exciting, but, sorry guys,I want Helio to win!

Anonymous said...

Totally off the DWTS subject...did anybody else see the Bachelor finale last night!!! I just knew that was going to happen,I had said earlier that I didn't think Brad was head over heels with any of them!I really liked DeeAnna and thought of all of them, she'd be his pick, but Mr. Non-Commit was true to himself and the women. This is the first time I have watched this in a long time, since season one,and it's because I highly doubt you are going to find true love this way,as their track record shows. It's just too forced and just knowing that he's kissing and making out with a lot of others, man, that just turns me off.

joy n said...

aaqI'm so glad that Marie is safe for another week.

Loved Kenny's bit with the ex-Dancing With The Stars "stars". He's so much easier to take than Kimmel.

joy n said...

Well, now Mel B. is safe, too. It sure better be Jenny leaving and not Helio or something is rotten in Denmark.

joy n said...

That's it! Jenny is gone. Whew!

Anonymous said...

eoummyI think they put Heilo in the last group with Jenny so it would be brother and sister pitted against each other. They kept saying that it did not mean that the one not eliminated got less votes than the person who would be going. Cheap shot producers!

Anonymous said...

Boy, I am going to have to lay off the diet coke! First I type in the word verification -- then I screwed up what I meant to say. Short and sweet -- they stated that being in the bottom two did not mean Heilo got less votes that the other ones who had been told they were safe. I am glad Jenny was eliminated. The others are much better dancers.

RBennie said...

Well that's a relief, Jennie's gone. Now I'm worried about Marie! Apparently, her fanbase is a force to be reckoned with! I'm afraid that Mel and Helio may be in trouble. I really want Mel to win, but if Helio takes it I can at least understand it - but Marie winning would just be wrong.

meb said...

I agree rbennie... I love Marie, but she just isn't the better dancer of the other two.

I had mentioned earlier that I was more interested in the pro dancers than the celebrities. I at that point wanted Max to win, but I just adore Julianne. I guess as long as one of them wins, I'm OK with it. (Sorry Marie) Both Mel and Helio will have earned the win.

meb said...

By the way... can someone tell me what Mel's grabbing Tom's butt is all about? Did I miss something somewhere. I would think that I would be more interested in my scores than making sure I remembered to goose somebody on the way off the set. Weird.

RBennie said...

I'm with you MEB, I would really love to see Max win. I've seen a whole new side to him this season with Mel as a partner. She brings out his playful side. It was great to see Sabrina and Mark dance again - WOW! They pulled out all the stops for that one. They would have been something to see in the freestyle.

RBennie said...

I think the butt grabbing thing is just a little ritual between those two. She likes to mess with him and he seems to get a kick out of it.

joy n said...

I agree with rbennie and meb. I also love Marie and wanted to see her stay awhile this season but her time has come. Helio and Mel belong in the final two. Now I'm worried about that fan base of Marie's knocking out Helio next because that would be a shame.

Anonymous said...

Yeah,I worry that Marie may squeak into the finals, only because all her fans push her there.I have enjoyed her immensely, but now it's time for the "real" dancers to shine. It would be a shame if she won this.

On the other hand,I was so glad that Marie outlasted Jennie. Now JG claimed she lacked confidence, but she seemed to think she was all that andcould actually win this all.And I still don't know what was with Len and her. He consistently gave her high marks when she was just mediocre.Anyway, glad she is gone.

Sabrina and Mark were great! They would have been a force to be reckoned with and I'd have loved to seen them, along with Mel and Helio in the finals.

joy n said...

Mel B. & Maxsim up first with a Cha-cha which didn't look like much of a cha-cha to me. It was good, just not so cha-cha-like. (my opinion) 9-9-10

Marie & Jon did a Samba. I thought it was not bad at all for Marie. 8-8-8

Helio & Julianne did a Jive that I thought looked like a lot of fun. He did mess up a couple of times, but it looked really good. 8-8-9
A little low, I think.

Mel B. & Maxsim did their freestyle and it seemed very disjointed to me. I wasn't impressed at all. I agree with Len, there was no flow. 9-9-9 A little high IMO.

Marie & Jon's freestyle I didn't like at all. Probably the worst dance she's done all season. 8-7-7

Helio & Julianne's freestyle was so cool. I loved the "race car" start. They did some really cool moves. Len said it was the freestyle of the night. I think it was THE dance of the night. 9-10-10

Tomorrow night are their final dances, and, as much as I love Marie, it's time for her to go off into the Osmond sunset. It would be an injustice for her fan base to take her all the way. She has improved tremendously over this season, but she does not deserve to win this.

I know there are a lot of Mel fans out there and it looks like she will most likely win. I think she believes she's going to win.

That said, I love Helio and Julianne and thought they did so well tonight. Yes, it would be nice to see a woman win this time around but Helio is a race car driver and he dances up a storm. I'm still gonna root for him.

Well, tomorrow is it. I'm not going to miss it.

Anonymous said...

Real problems with voting...I tried for a half hour straight with redial for Helio and couldn't get through...ditto trying to vote on line. I'm sure I'm not alone...so a lot of potential votes won't be countted because the network couldn't handle the volume. Pretty unfair.

Anonymous said...

I,too, thought Helio and Julianne knocked it out of the park with that final dance. I sure hope that Mel B. gets a surprise like Sabrina did and does NOT win this.

I also think it's time for Marie to go. What were they thinking with that free style dance. Jonathon basically dragged her all around the floor! Not much content there and we know she can do better. I absolutely hated Mel and Makx's free style. WTF??? There was no real ballroom or latin flavor in any of it! The judges scored her way too high for that!

Although a woman would have been nice, neither of these deserve the win. Both of them have dance or performance backgrounds and Helio, coming from his race car lifestyle, did the best job this season, hands down.

meb said...

Helio and Julianne!!! Hands down!!! They deserved more for the jive if Mel deserved her scores.

I sure hope Marie's fan base gets real and votes for the best dancer, not the personality. Her doll dance was rediculous for a competition. There was no dancing to it. What were they thinking?

Mel and Max just seemed to get too comfortable with their "fame" and didn't even try. They did NOT deserve 9's for that dance. JMO.

Helio did all those lifts which Bruno acknowledged are very difficult for even an experienced dancer to do. Even if they were off a little, he deserved all 10's for that dance. Carrie Ann gets on my nerves when she gets "so" technical. Helio was phenomenal and Julianne's choreography was exceptional. LOVE THIS COUPLE!

I voted for the first time in the competition and luckily had no trouble voting on line. I was in there on my computer immediately after the show ended. Helio and Julianne got all 5 of my votes.

I'm going to be stuck to the TV tonight!

You can vote online until noon. I voted this morning no problem at all. I was very disappointed with Mel and Maks' freestyle. I expected alot more.

I hope Helio and Juliette take it all. M&M's free-style was a wreck. Felt bad for Marie, both dances were not up to this time in the comp.

"I've seen a whole new side to Max this season with Mel as a partner. She brings out his playful side."
You hit the nail on the head. And Mel seems less bawdy than when she started the show. I think he's mellowed her a little bit.

Did anyone else notice that all 3 of the teams included little crotch shots in each dance?!?!?!

Sharon, I hated Mel and Max's freestyle as well as Marie's... I bet it was harder for her to do that than it looked. They did a lot of lifts and such inbetween her being dragged around. But she fell woefully short on both dances. Actually, being gone for about 5 weeks, I was shicked to see Marie still in the finals, as while she's a fab entertainer, her stiffness reminds me of Leeza Gibbons'. IS it all her huge fan base or has she been great since I've been gone?

I adore Julianne... she's a total package, and you'd think, all sunshine. BUT it was interesting to see her react to Carrie Ann's criticism last night (BTW, Wha'ts up with THAT? Almost like it was her job last night to cut people down). It was as if she could not cover her reaction for the camera. I think she REALLY really really wants to win the #1 place the second year in a row. She started with the call in gestures before they were off the stage and used everything she had in her bag of tricks to engage the audience to call during the interviews.

I think she deserves it but have no doubt her future as a star is secure.

Sydney... I think that Marie lasted so long mainly because of her fan base, but she did improve considerably so deserved to be there longer than Seymour and finally Garth. Sabrina got knocked out early and I think that was because of Marie's following. I didn't especially care for Sabrina...she attacked her dances with such force that they all looked the same, but she deserved to be there longer than Marie.

I just hope, as I mentioned in an earlier post, that Marie's fan base doesn't win this for her. That would be so unfair, because she is obviously NOT the better dancer.

I also was bouncing back and forth wanting Max to win and then Julianne. Max definitely became more personable this year and I would guess because he has such a good partner who can get him the scores. But now I definitely want Julianne and Helio to win.

Mel has done a great job, but that said, they didn't prove it last night. Helio did. Besides Julianne's choreography is the best of all the pros.

It's almost time... talk later!

Totally agree with that last statement about Julianne's choreography and their dancing. And Marie is gone, so.... we shall see within minutes!!!

joy n said...

I agree with everything you said, meb, and am really pulling for Helio and Julianne tonight.

Well, Marie, it was nice while it lasted, but your time had come.

She really was fun every week.

It's nice seeing Sabrina again, but she's still "attacking".

Sydney said...

Hi Joy. It WAS nice to see Sabrina dance... and what is this I read in your comments that she and her dance partner may have gotten involved? Always like to hear those stories...

I could have lived without seeing the billionaire's face dance again... He looks like he's having so much fun I almost feel guilty at how turned off I am by his style, lol!

On the ohter hand, I could watch our cutie pie Apollo for days.

joy n said...

Sydney, from what I've read on AOL News and other Entertainment news outlets, Sabrina and Bryan are indeed a ccouple and very much in love with each other. I wish them the best.

Great! Thanks for the dish, I love it!

Gosh, I am really biting my nails here with just a few minutes to go. I thought Helio and Julianne had it in the bag but our Spice girl really did come a long way and did a particularly great job on that last dance. I actually thought there were a few akward points in the quickstep J & H did... but the votes from America are already in, so it doesn't matter. The judges were going to give them both 30's anyway unless something really unusual happened.

joy n said...

YES!!! I'm so glad Helio and Julianne did it!

And it was as it should have been. I am very proud of Marie, she did the older women proud. But Heilo deserved that win!

Yay,I am so happy!! I truly believe the right couple won this time. I was so worried that Marie might sneak in there, but her low scores from the judges gave some hope that she couldn't pull it off. I enjoyed her,but she was stiff and never really "shook her groove thing" all that well.

I think you could tell that Maks was a little miffed that they lost.I would not have been upset if they had won,but am so glad the way it turned out. The way they are suggesting that Celine and Donny may turn up on the next season, now is that interesting or what???? I hope this starts really enticing some interesting people to sign up. Maybe then there won't be models we have never heard of and the Mark Cubans of the world won't be on there either.

Now I'm sad that it's over! With the writer's strike, there is going to be such dreck over the next weeks. Oh well, that's what I've got Netflix for,no?

I haven't seen the show yet, but I to check in for spoilers.....
Yes, Sabrina/Mark are very much a couple.

Donny has been asked to be on the show next season but he hasn't decided. He needs to see if his schedule will work with it.

However, Donny and Marie are doing a series of shows in Vegas and her partner Jonathon and his wife Anna(the redhead that was with Albert) are going to be part of their act. Donny says they will be doing a "DWTS" type of show.

Glad to hear Marie didn't win....her doll routine was not a dance!! It was like a skit!

Last night everyone seems "off". I think the wear and tear on their bodies is showing....Max injured his back on Sun. and Julianne has bronchitis.

Another season over.....I enjoy the drama and the dancing. I hope they will start to pick up the caliber of celebirties.

While I'm a little disappointed that my girl Mel didn't win, I'm happy for Helio. You just can't help but like the guy. I wish I could have been a guest at that wrap party - can you imagine the dancing going on there? I was relieved that Wayne and Floyd didn't dance - thanks for sparing me that agony, LOL.

Oh, well, another season has come and gone. Drew is still my favorite winner. I think his and Cheryl's freestyle is the best from any season. I'm happy to see that he will be hosting Dance Wars - they really know how to keep it in the family.

joy n said...

rbennie, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that was glad that Wayne and Floyd didn't "perform" last night.

RBennie said...

Hi Joy N. - Somehow I don't think we are alone in our relief!

Do you plan to watch Dance Wars? We'll have to ask Jackie to start a post for that one also.

joy n said...

Rbennie, yes, I'm definitely going to check out Dance Wars. Drew is my all-time favorite winner, too.

Sorry, girls,I have to go with Mario as my favorite with Helio right there close behind, then Apollo and then Drew.I may be the only one who was so glad when Samantha came back,I hated his hosting. But I love Tom,I was so happy when he took over AFV instead of Saget. He is almost as funny as the clips and I loved the Mel,Mak and Tom bit they did after their every dance!

Yes,it would be great if Miss Jackie would make us a "special place" for Dance Wars. Pretty please?

meb said...

I'm in agreement with you Sharon. Mario was my all time favorite. How could you resist those dimples. I wasn't too thrilled with his choice of Katrina as a companion. Are they still together?

Then Appolo and Helio are sort of neck and neck. I loved them both. Probably cause they both danced with Julianne. I thought Julianne and Appolo had a thing going too, but I read this morning that she broke off her engagement earlier this year from another dancer (can't remember his name).

Also read that Helio's fiance broke off their engagement right after the finale of DWTS. She didn't do it earlier because she didn't want it to affect his standing in the show.

I was glad when Samantha came back too, as I never was a fan of Drew, but I will definitely be watching Dance Wars.

If Jackie feels like we're getting too many sidebars to comment, we can always use this DWTS site to comment. Whadayathink?

Wow, so Julianne and Helio are both single! They'd make a cute couple, and it certainly seemed like they had some chemistry going. Pretty soon DWTS will have a better track record of hooking up couples than the Bachelor does. Although that's not too hard of a feat.

meb said...

Good one Caroline... LOL

nana in the nw ... that's interesting about Donny and Marie doing a series of shows in Vegas and Jonathon and his wife being a part of their act. Wonder if that would keep Jonathon and Anna out of the DWTS competition due to conflict of schedules. Guess if they're getting an income, either way, they probably wouldn't care.

Thanks for that information.

RBennie said...

DWTS is really becoming very "incestuous" isn't it? Everyone is intermingled somehow. Jonathan and Anna are married. I believe Alec and Edyta are engaged. Julianne and Derek are brother and sister, and Julianne and Mark used to be dance partners. Mario and Karina are dating. Mark and Sabrina are dating. Carrie Ann, Bruno and Drew have a new show together. Donnie and Marie are doing a show in Vegas and Jonathan and Anna will be in it.

joy n said...

DWTS is becoming a little like Peyton Place when you put all the pairings together.

I'm a little red-faced because somehow I had forgotten about Mario. HOW could I forget Mario. I liked Drew a lot for his personality and still do. But Mario and his dimples,...sigh.

RBennie said...

Oh Mario is definitely my favorite dancer from all the seasons. Drew is my favorite winner, and of course Mario was robbed of his well deserved win - imo. Oh yes, those dimples....

joy n said...

Just read on realitytvworld that Julianne Hough has signed a record deal with Universal Records and will have an album out in April and a single released in January. This has been confirmed by Universal Music Group Nashville. She plans to Continue with DWTS.

The same news page also states that Maxsim told EXTRA that he's moving on from DWTS. He says he has several new projects lined up including a Las Vegas show. "I've already been asked to choreograph other huge projects in Germany, China and Macau." He says, this is the limit of where he can get on the show, and that, ten years from now, he doesn't want to be looked upon as a failure.

meb said...

Good news about Julianne joy n... glad she's coming back to DWTS tho.

Sorry to hear that Max won't be coming back. He is an excellent dancer of course, so I'm not surprised that he's sought after.

Sorry this show is over. I'm going to miss it a lot!

joy n said...

I read an article on PEOPLE News today that said Maxsim says he was "stressed" when he said he was leaving DWTS. He now regrets making that statement and wants his fans to know that he will be back next season on DWTS.

I think maybe he got over his pouty mood after coming in second for two years in a row and had second thoughts.

meb said...

YAY! Good news again! Thanks joy n.

Some hot muffins girls!!!

Do not know where we should comment for this season!!!
