Survivor 40: Winners at War - Season Finale Blog Party

Well, well, well ... here it is, season finale time already! From what I've read, most of tonight's three-hour broadcast will be show, not the reunion. What reunion there will be will be video conferencing type. I know that many will squawk if Natalie wins her way back into the game and then wins the two million. While I personally wouldn't think it right that the first person voted out stands a chance to come back and win it all, she has amazed me with her determination and physical skills. I don't know. I'd prefer she not win, but still thinks she deserves some kudos!

I will be updating this entry with the major events as the show airs here on the East Coast -- refresh this page to get the latest news! As always, the real party is in the comments area. Please feel free to join in on the fun!

Before she blows the final out of the pool whistle of the season, Lifeguard Laurie has updated the blog pool. Here's where we stand going into the finale --

Ben Driebergen - Rbennie, Shannon
Denise Stapley - Becky, Jennifer
Michele Fitzgerald -Terry is a Texan
Sarah Lacina - SueGee, Cheryl in NC
Tony Vlachos - Karen in CA, Donna in Alabama

Extinction Island
Adam Klein - Lifeguard Laurie, Petals
Amber Mariano - Delee, Glenn Allen
Danni Boatwright - Jennasmom
Ethan Zohn - Rochelle, Jackie
Jeremy Collins - Sharon N
Kim Spradlin-Wolfe - Dr_Celine
Natalie Anderson - Nana in the NW
Nick Wilson - Barbara BW, Judi Sweeney
Parvati Shallow - Donna in FL
Rob Mariano - Auntie Leigh
Sophie Clarke - ChicMc
Tyson Apostol -Janice
Wendell Holland - Nickelpeed, PDX Granny
Yul Kwon - Ed in Ohio

Survivor fans ready?

Jeff is in his garage with a big set-up to present the live portions of the broadcast. He thinks this has been the greatest season of all times.  All of the castaways are on a Zoom internet kind of screen. He claims so much is going on with the show itself that there wouldn't be time for a reunion show anyway. Hmm.

Final five get to watch the Extinction players compete. Attached to rope, race through obstacles, dig up rope, make rope bridge, untie knots, table maze. Several have bought advantages with their tokens. Natalie bought the most and gets stuck. After doing so well, she's not rocking this challenge! Wendell has maintained the lead for a while. Natalie has caught up and she, Wendell and Tyson are vying for the win. Whoops for Wendell. NATALIE WINS HER WAY BACK INTO THE GAME!

Now we're getting the Survivor stories from those who didn't win their way back in. Well, Tyson did but got voted out again.

Natalie is touring the camp. She knows that she will be the biggest target. She sees everyone is on the "Tony bandwagon." Tony doesn't trust her and is sure that she will be telling lies. Yes, she plans on telling lots of lies! She has already started telling people that the jury has all been talking about voting for Tony.

Immunity challenge -- race through obstacles, grab bag, up stairs, down waterslide times 3, puzzle. MICHELE WINS despite being way behind until she started her puzzle.

Tony thinks they should split the vote between Denise and Natalie. Meanwhile, Natalie wants to work with Michele. Ben wants to be human and not vote out his friend Denise. Natalie has an idol (one that Tony thinks she might have). Tony thinks he might have to play his idol. Ben has one, as well. Tony thinks they should vote Denise because he thinks Natalie has an idol. Sarah doesn't think she does have one because "she would have told me." @@

Tribal Council time. Jeff starts out asking about Natalie's return. Natalie goes ahead and says Tony is running the show. Now it seems to be female solidarity is afoot. Natalie is really pushing her oust Tony agenda.

The tally -- Natalie plays her idol. Tony plays his idol. Ben plays his idol.

Natalie, Natalie, Natalie, Natalie, Ben, Ben ... must revote. They can only vote for Denise or Sarah. Denise and Sarah don't count. Nobody draws rocks. settle with making fire if it is a tie.

The re-tally -- Denise, Denise, Denise ... bye, Denise.

Tony is a bit upset that he and Ben "wasted" their idols. Tony knows at least one idol is now hidden and he wastes no time going in search of it. NATALIE finds one instead.

Immunity Challenge time -- through obstacles, water, key, two sandbags land them on target.  TONY WINS IMMUNITY, a guaranteed spot in the final four.

Natalie is pushing to break up the Tony/Ben/Sarah trio. Tony goes to his spy nest thinking he wants to eavesdrop on the girls. Natalie tells Sarah that she doesn't want to go against Ben in fire. Natalie tells and shows Sarah that she has an idol. Tony wants Natalie to think they're voting for her but put the votes on Michele. Michele knows that she's the target. Would Natalie use her idol to save Michele? Hmm. Ben tells Sarah he's okay with her writing his name down.  He thinks she should go to the end and not be told she was just brought along there.

Tribal Council ... it's getting all sentimental and personal growth feelings stuff.

The tally -- Natalie plays her idol.

Ben, Michele, Ben, Michele, Ben.

Tony is surprised. His bud Ben is out!

Final Immunity Challenge -- One hand tied behind back, ball down a chute, catch it, more balls added as time goes on. Tony out! Sarah out!

NATALIE WINS THE FINAL IMMUNITY!

She will pick one person to save and the other two must do a fire challenge for the third spot in the final three.

Tony is pretty sure that he and Sarah will face the fire challenge. I think he's probably right. Natalie wants to put the strongest fire maker against him. Will she choose Michele to go up against Tony?

It's to Tribal ... Natalie saves Michele, leaving Tony and Sarah to do the firemaking battle.

TONY WINS! He's in the final three! Woot! Woot! Both Tony and Sarah are in tears.

They get their big breakfast feast.

Time for the jury Tribal Council --
Outwit
Yul offers them kudos, says they need to fill in the missing blanks about how they outwitted them. Natalie says she misstepped on day one not reaching out. Michele got into alliances, always felt like she was on the bottom.  Tony said he tried to be more open and vulnerable this time. Nick challenges him, as does Jeremy. Tony said he was with them until they went against him. Ben speaks up for Tony's loyalty. Natalie talks about targeting Tony upon returning to the game. Rob points out that she shunned the old school players on Extinction. Tony gets asked how he blindsided people. He tells of his spy nest. Wendell points out that Tony never had votes against him. Michele says she moved through cracks and had to work alone being on the bottom.

Outplay --
Wendell wants Natalie to share everything she found in the game. Talk of winning challenges. Extinction an advantage for Michele, disadvantage for Tony.

Outlast --
Natalie wanted to take out the strongest alliance and did it. Michele wonders if she deserved her first win and worked hard this season. Tony came in as himself and played hard, even looking for idols at night, no one ever put his name down in the game.

They show Rob voting for Tony. Natale got a vote. Michele may have gotten one. They only showed a few.

The final tally for the win ...

To Jeff's garage with the final three on little screens.

Tony, Natalie, Natalie, Tony, Natalie, Tony, Natalie, Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony!

TONY WINS! WELL-DESERVED!

Here we go lol

Joe in NY said...

Does that really count as a "Big Move" if you are ordered to vote someone out? LOL

Joe in NY said...

Petals says goodnight. She had to go.

Nickelpeed said...

Wow, that backfired.

Nickelpeed said...

The women stayed together for once.

Glenn Allen said...

Wow Sarahs vote was the difference. He could have had Michelle go home instead.

Nickelpeed said...

Bye Petals! See you on TAR

Nickelpeed said...

What would be epic is if the women stayed together and voted Tony out next. But I don't think it will happen because Tony has his back up against the wall, he will be at his best for the next challenge.

Nickelpeed said...

Oh no! That one!!!

jennifer said...

I like this challenge, just gets a little tricky!

Joe in NY said...

Nobody votes anyone out. The immunity winner just picks one person to take with them.

Nickelpeed said...

I think either Michelle or Nat wins and pits Sara and Tony against each other in the fire challenge. That's my guess.

Joe in NY said...

What's the most balls they've ever had in play?

Anonymous said...

Tony downs lol

jennifer said...

Bummer!

Nickelpeed said...

OMG!!!

SueGee said...

I would like to see an all woman finale for a change. been a while I think

Nickelpeed said...

woooohoooooooo

Anonymous said...

Man that was good

tbc said...

Poor Tony, he knows he’s out!

Glenn Allen said...

Natalie may have just won this game.

Nickelpeed said...

OMGosh!!! This is great. I bet she takes Michelle and pits Sarah and Tony against each other.

Nickelpeed said...

Personally, Glenn, I don't think they'll vote for her. I wish it were either Michelle or Nat, but I don't know.

monty924 said...

She will. Tony and Sara it will be making fire.

Glenn Allen said...

Who practices making fire before Tribal?

Joe in NY said...

Rather unfortunate (to me) that the 2 most deserving players have to battle each other just to get to the Final 3.

I really prefer that they actually vote in the Final 4. Why remove all that last minute scrambling and potential drama? Just so we can have an automatic fire-making challenge.

Boston rob keeps his record for most Days playing Survivor> Sandra was a few days behind going into the season but when she quit that extended Boston Robs lead. Sandra will hate it if a Woman wins for a second win to say sorry tied with the Queen and didn't quit or use sit out benches.

Anonymous said...

Lol she is like disco inferno with that fire

Nickelpeed said...

Joe, they're all deserving. Michelle played the game as good at Tony and Sarah. So did Natalie. The reason why they had EoE was to keep everyone in the game, whether they were on the main island or on EoE.

Nickelpeed said...

He's so worried about everyone else. He needs to get in to it.

Nickelpeed said...

A lot of the winners didn't like the idea of an EoE. I don't think they would vote for someone who has returned from EoE

SueGee said...

Its funny, that if they didn't like the idea of EoE there was only one who didn't stay there

Nickelpeed said...

The eye rolls were the main reason I do not think they would ever vote for Natalie.

monty924 said...

TEAM TONY!!!

Glenn Allen said...

Natalie's I think I have done enough comments could hurt her in the vote.

Nickelpeed said...

The New Schoolers will vote for anyone except Natalie. I hope I'm wrong, but we'll see.

Nickelpeed said...

Tony has played a great game, but I'm not rooting for him. If he wins, that's fine. Hopefully, they won't be bitter.

monty924 said...

Best fire ever

Nickelpeed said...

Oh no!!

monty924 said...

YAY!!! Woohooo... that was the best fire making challenge ever.

Nickelpeed said...

Tony will win this game.

Anonymous said...

That was good

tbc said...

She might regret voting out Ben...

monty924 said...

Tony should have this in the bag!!!

Joe in NY said...

Disagree, Nickel. Tony and Sara ran just about every vote. Michelle played okay, but was responsible for pretty much nothing happened. And Natalie attended a total of 3 tribal councils.

Glenn Allen said...

Tony Wins Fire and gets a great campaign speech from Sarah.

Joe in NY said...

Natalie might get votes. It would be really hard to see Michelle getting a vote from anyone but her mother.

Nickelpeed said...

That was sweet

Glenn Allen said...

I hope Tony wins the Game.

Nickelpeed said...

I thought Michelle played a decent game. But they haven't a chance against Tony.

Joe in NY said...

I like to see alliances that stay together. It was nice that Ben, Sara and Tony stayed strong till the end.

Joe in NY said...

This Covid nonsense is keeping us from hearing Sandra explain why she quit. LOL. And welcoming someone into the 2 Win Club.

Do you think they already told the winner? Or is the winner going to find out when we find out?

Nickelpeed said...

I thought that was good, too, Joe. They didn't jump around.

Glenn Allen said...

I would think Sarah and Ben vote for Tony. Jeremy has to decide between Natalie or voting for Tony.

Glenn Allen said...

So fitting raining at the final Tribal.

Nickelpeed said...

I think they probably did, Joe. They can't tell anyone else, so it doesn't matter. I just don't think the two women can beat Tony.

monty924 said...

Fitting final tribal council in the rain

monty924 said...

I don't think they tell the winner in advance, but people can read the jury so it is always a BIG probably as to who will win once they leave the island and Ponderosa.

Anonymous said...

She is doing pretty good

Nickelpeed said...

Them talking to Nat tells me they won't vote for her.

Nickelpeed said...

THAT right there will be her downfall.

The moleman said...

Hope not!

Nickelpeed said...

I would love for Natalie or Michelle to win. But, you have to admit, Tony played a great game.

SueGee said...

Hanging in here waiting....it will be over just about the time it starts on TV here

Nickelpeed said...

I miss Jeff talking to the entire group.

The moleman said...

Just Michele not Natalie, and if tony wins he should be the king of survivor!

monty924 said...

I actually like this extended view of the final tribal council. It took this damn virus for us to get it, but I like this finale.

monty924 said...

There's my favorite commercial ... "we do have a RATT problem", LOL

The moleman said...

Yep, hope they do a reunion soon

monty924 said...

Hahaha, love Boston Rob's comment.

Nickelpeed said...

Natalie should have made fire against Tony. It would have given her more credit in her game.

Glenn Allen said...

Does Amber vote for Tony? Boston Rob was right about almost perfect game on Natalies return.

Anonymous said...

They should have stayed on the island in hindsight lol

Nickelpeed said...

And, in to his garage.

monty924 said...

Nice looking families

Nickelpeed said...

Will see if the spoilers were true now. LOL

Anonymous said...

This was a good season all around

monty924 said...

YES!!!

Nickelpeed said...

Yay Tony. Game well played.

Glenn Allen said...

Yes Tony Wins. He is now the King of Survivor. Where is Sandra to be on Screen to congratulate Tony?

Nickelpeed said...

Man, I wonder if they'll have a fall edition.

SueGee said...

See you all next week!!

Anonymous said...

Thanks Jackie!!! Everyone stay safe and strong!!!

The moleman said...

Yes he is the king of survivor!

Jackie S. said...

Thank you all for coming by! Check within the next few days about TAR. Be safe!

Nickelpeed said...

Thank you Jackie.

monty924 said...

Great season, just wished it hadn't been upended because of all of this.

Thank you so much Jackie for another really great season at the pool.

Stay safe and well everyone! HUGS, Monty

Glenn Allen said...
