They faced the jury! Well, not literally, I don't think. I'm sure it was done via TV monitors. Of course, the feeds were blocked, so I don't know the actual questions. They don't really know how the jury will vote in the end, but they can speculate from the questions asked. So, their reaction is key and here it is...
- After the feeds being blocked for nearly two hours, they returned on Dick. He was asking himself -- "I was campaigning to beat her?"
- Daniele was pacing and pouting.
- Dick said, "Great, another thing for her to be [bleepin'] mad at me about."
- Dick - "How did I know she'd be pissed at me? There's no winning, no winning. There's always a Catch-22 with Daniele."
- Then the fireworks began when Dick and Daniele came face to face.
- Dick started to apologize for "coming off that way."
- Daniele - "This sucks! The only thing anyone has against me from week one and because Amber goes at me. I'm never my own person in this house and its so annoying. You said there have been rumors that I've been carried by Daniele. Zach only said that, then even Jameka! You said I flew under the radar. Those people credit me for nothing! The only reason I'm here is because of you!"
- Dick tried to interrupt her with a "no."
- Daniele ranted on. She went on again about everyone crediting him for her being in the final two (and how it sucks). She ranted more about people in the background laughing because she was such a joke and shouldn't be in the final two.
- She yelled at them that she felt like crap because of him.
- He said she deserved to be in the final two. He said he didn't say anything about her.
- She yelled that he did. "Yes, you did! I'm so over being in this house! This sucks! I'm sorry, but I don't think you had the hardest game coming into the house! It's so annoying! I'm always in your shadow! I hate being here!"
- She stomped off to bed where she remained awake.
- A little later, Dick tried to apologize. She wouldn't answer him.
- Dick went back to the backyard where he heard an auto accident in the distance, but then it was a version of the Dick Show -- when he speaks to the Internet.
- He tells us that he just can't win with Daniele. She thinks he always had a better relationship with the jury members and it all stemmed from Nick.
- Dick thinks the jury will vote for him to win, but the fact that he would win against his daughter makes it a no-win.
- He said Daniele has never been happy in the game even though she won a lot of comps -- she's always complaining. (Which, of course, is why I'd rather see Dick win over Daniele.)
- Continuing the Dick Show -- "It's going to be a [bleepin'] long two days, I tell you that!"
- He then talked about how he didn't think Amber would attack Daniele like that. (Oh, I have to see this!)
- He tells us he thinks he won, but Daniele's "pissed" at him and all of the jury members, she got attacked by a lot of them.
- Meanwhile, on the other cams, Daniele's in bed. Her eyes are open.
- Dick did the laundry, then settled down for a game of Solitaire, once again going on about Amber and her jury question to Daniele. (No, he didn't say the actual question.)
So, it sounds like the jury, especially Amber, really went at Daniele. It sounds like they accused her of riding his coattails through the game. Since it's Daniele who's upset and Dick the only one talking, I don't know if the jury even said anything about his tactics. But I'm sure they did.
Above is a screen cap I took at 8:11 ET this morning, both Daniele and Dick are asleep right now as I post this.
As I expected with only the two in the house for a period of days, the feeds are rather quiet (which is a good thing as I conked out last night!). Here are a few more noteworthy or odd tidbits from inside the Big Donato House:
- Dick has become a champion Solitaire player.
- Both Dick and Daniele still have aches and pains from the HOH comp and previous ones. My personal guess is that Dick probably has a lot more pain than Daniele.
- Daniele complained that Dick wouldn't just let her be, but ... sheesh, they're trapped in the house. He already talks to the cameras. If Daniele doesn't talk to him, he'll have to talk to the moose topiary figure.
- Dick put out a cookie and set the table for Daniele thinking it would make her smile. When he asked what she thought, she asked if this is what things are coming to. Sigh.
- Daniele hopes they don't have to do Housecalls and The Early Show appearance together. @@
- She said he would talk the entire time. Well, she might have a point there, I guess. But, still ...!
- They argued about small stuff ... again.
- He thought she had a bad attitude ... again.
- Dick thinks that now they're spending too much time together. He said they shouldn't be apart two years again, but two days would be nice.
- Daniele exercised.
- Dick housecleaned, smoked, and spat. Spitted? Got spittle all over the dang yard. That covers it.
- Daniele asked Dick if they might get a montage of Amber crying. Dick told her they probably already had one.
- BB gave Dick a box which has 9 different games. At last, something for him to do!
- Although Daniele went to bed, she got up and shared breakfast cooked by Dick, and an ice cream snack at about 5 AM their time (that's what they're doing in the screen cap I have here).
- They talked about their previous housemates -- Eric's mannerisms, Amber giving Nick advice (what's worse ... Amber giving advice or Nick taking it?)
- They played Chinese Checkers.
- Then to bed once again.
G'morning! Guess what I did? After having technical issues with my last TV Squad post and staying up for most of the night on Thursday, then going to work Friday after what was basically a just a nap ... I fell asleep for nearly twelve hours after getting home last night. Yikes!
As a result, I'm still catching up with comments and emails both here and at TVS. Reading through the comments on my last BB8 entry, I was delighted to see the range of opinions, many written so thoroughly and well ... it was fantastic discussion! I peek at other places and see many of the commenters going wild, getting nasty, posting vulgarities just to post them. Here we have folks on both ends of the season controversy, yet I see people telling WHY they think the way they do and intelligent comments on both sides of the fence. Kudos to you! (I knew I shouldn't worry about facing dozens of "you're an idiot if you like..." posts, but it was a nagging thought in my mind when I awoke!)
On another note from the comments, I want to express my condolences to commenter Terry in CA whose mother passed away. I've sent a separate email to her, but since her comment might have been lost in the crowd, I wanted to mention it here. Terry has been a long-time commenter on this blog and on my AOL one before this came about. We don't always share the same show favorites, but Terry's comments are always well-reasoned and appreciated here. My sincere sympathies go out to her on her loss and my thoughts and prayers to her and her family.
A new commenter wondered if we did this every year, if any other shows are covered, if donations are necessary, and such. Here are the answers:
- I've been involved in online doings for Big Brother since season one. For the first five seasons I hosted the AOL message boards for the show, often doing "bloggie" sort of posts, but without the blog medium.
- As season six approached and the blog medium was really taking off, I thought the live feeds were a perfect match for blogging as blogs are updated with the newest content on top and folks could comment. So, I created Big Brother 6 - Live Feeds Reports and More over on AOL.
- In January of 2006 I switched to Blogger due to commenting issues (only AOL and AIM could comment on AOL Journals) and some other limitations with AOL's product. I decided I wouldn't have a blog specific to shows, but all I wrote about would be here on this blog.
- I have covered Big Brother, The Amazing Race, Lost, Heroes, American Idol, Hell's Kitchen, and Survivor here in detail while often touching on other shows. I do East Coast boot updates for the shows, plus for some I don't cover in detail each week.
- Upon request, I create discussion posts for commenters to talk about shows I don't watch -- they can be found in the sidebar and I'll get new ones going as the new seasons start.
- This summer I was hired by TV Squad to cover the BB live feeds there. If you read here and there, the content differs. I can't post a ton of times a day there or just send up screen caps and a quick comment, so they're quite different arenas.
- This fall (next week!), I will be reviewing Survivor 15: China and Kid Nation for TV Squad. Since Kid Nation is new, I probably won't have much content about it here other than pointers to my posts there, maybe a bit of discussion.
- As for Survivor, that's been a regular staple here each season, and I won't desert it this season. I will still post East Coast updates on the major happenings here although my show review/recap will be on TV Squad. I will also post on the castaways, my opinions, and other things here as the season arrives. I've already started with the castaways and should get them finished by tomorrow -- see the sidebar.
- For the donations question -- no, you don't have to donate to be a part of things here. Some folks asked that I put up the donations button and I'll admit they surely are appreciated, but they aren't necessary. The fact that a real online community has grown here means more to me and every person who takes the time to join in on the discussions is a part of that community.
- In addition to the blog writing, I do work a day job. So, sometimes it might get a bit crazy when something controversial happens. If you see a problem in the comments, please don't respond and chances are that I'll take out any purely trash posts or rein in disputes.
- Your comment will never be removed due to your opinion about a show or contestant. I've done this (and the AOL board stuff) for so long that I'm used to folks having varying opinions. I know not everyone will think the same and love to hear why they think the way they do. That doesn't mean that I'll agree with them, but if we all thought the same ... what would we have to discuss? I just ask that other commenters are treated with respect.
I want to thank everyone who has been a part of this blog. The BB8 season may be wrapping up, but the fall season of new shows is about to start! Woohoo!
Daniele is asleep as I post this, but Dick is still awake -- smiling, giggling, shuffling cards, and smoking.
Here's the skinny on the night:
- BB gave Daniele and Dick a bottle of champagne and a dinner to congratulate them -- Dick to "winning, plain and simple" and Daniele for Zach going home.
- Dick thinks Daniele will win because she's the lesser of two evils, Daniele thinks Dick will win because the jury hates her. (And they don't hate Dick?)
- Dick kept bursting into celebratory dancing and jumping fits. At one point he asked Daniele how she could be so calm. She laughed and jokingly said, "Because I'm not a freak like you." (Nah, wasn't particularly mean. She was teasing. She kept looking at him and smiling.)
- Once again, he went on about it all being a fairytale come true.
- Dick thinks the others will play it personal and he wonders what Dustin will ask him.
- Daniele pointed out that this was the first day of five they'll be trapped there. She wants to go home. (Although she's whining, I agree -- I don't know why they leave the final two stuck in there so long when the game is basically all but over.)
- Dick is still hurting from the first part of the comp, but his happiness over winning takes over ... until he moves funny and OW.
- Dick told Daniele it's not important what she says to the jury because, either way, they won.
- BB went all out stocking the stockroom for them.
- Daniele made her now infamous cookies.
- They talked about how the rules changed in the first part after the rabbit died. They thought Zach wasn't doing as well when he had to jump the bunny. (Notice that they didn't say a word about the dead rabbit on the show.)
- Daniele thinks Eric is going to be vicious with his questions for them.
- Daniele went to bed.
- Dick set the table for her telling us it will make her smile in the morning.
- I don't think Dick is going to be able to sleep for another few days -- he's still in a rush of exhilaration over winning. When he crashes, I predict at least 12 hours straight of sleep.
There ya go! I wrote the review of the show which should appear on TV Squad sometime soon.
The show is starting here on the East Coast. I'll be updating this entry as it airs, so refresh the page to see the latest!
And, as always, please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
Right now, Julie is on ... but first, it's a trip back to the Bunny Hop -- the part one from the other night.
Julie tells the rules again. Daniele tells us that she told her dad that she's doomed if it has anything to do with cold water. Mud is shot as if from guns! They're hopping!
Dick has started his intimidation of Zach. Daniele went from laughing to saying how cold she is. The bunny did slow went she went off. She heads to the shower crying.
Zach is giving a rather odd tirade back at Dick. The bunny is dead, but they didn't mention it. Daniele is pep-talking Dick -- "Vincent's watching now and extremely porud of you." Five hours in and they haven't mentioend the dead bunny in the middle of the comp. Dick is wearying. Daniele tells him she loves him.
Seven hours in, Dick is looking bad. Daniele tells us watching her father in so much pain and freakin' cold "sucks, it just sucks." Zach is shivering now and then. After Daniele keeps telling him its okay to quit, Dick does.
Daniele tells us how proud she is of him, Zach even gives him a pat on the back. Dick is wrapped in a big towel, smoking and shivering.
Dick tells us that he feels he let his daughter down in addition to himself, but might not have gone on as long as he did. Now it's Daniele's turn to peptalk Dick.
Zach tells us that he officially "broke" Dick like a drill sergeant.
Dick and Daniele are going to the second part -- Chain of Command -- Clear pieces of a puzzle with a wavy red line must be moved from one tank to another to connect the houseguests with the red line.
Dick seemed more confident with good reason - 24:09 minutes for Daniele ,12:48 Dick. He wins the second part and will go up against Zach in the final part.
Dick tells us his goal is to take Daniele to the final two with him -- their fairytale ending. Zach thinks he can beat Dick in a mental game as he already has donwe in a physical game.
Julie is asking Daniele about their relationship, stepping block. Dick said Daniele was why he stayed as long as he did. Zach tuning out Dick, he says his legs and mind were numb.
There will be an Eric and Jessica romance/showmance segment coming up in addition the the final part of the Head of House.
Aw, Eric and Jessica are in love. Dustin and Amber think so. Then Jameka arrives. Dustin says he, Jameka and Amber will hang out. Jameka introduces the DVD of the nominations -- complete with Zach's "muscle" speech which impressed the jury.
No Jen? Hmmm...
The final part of the HOH is ready to start -- Dick and Zach. How well did you get to know your former HG this summer. She will read statements by a former HG, give two choices of a finish.
First round, goes to Dick.
Second -- both wrong, Jen thinks she was stronger than Daniele
Round thee - both right
Round four - both wrong
Round five - Both right
Last question - Both wrong
DICK WINS -- HE's the final HOH!
Zach is a gentleman, offers them both his hand. Dick is out of his mind with joy. We won EVERYTHINg! We DID IT!
Time for the live eviction, Julie says they must go through the formal steps. She tells Zach to speak. Zach tells them he played against the best of the best and doesn't expect to be saved, Dick can remember his invention when he has the money. Daniele is giddy about being there with her Dad. "There is no deicison, Zach you're out -- Daniele we won the WHOLE thing!"
Dick is dancing and kicked the trash pail. Dick and Daniele are happy, happy, happy!
Julie talks to Zach -- biggest game moves -- lay low, ride on Dick and Daniele's coattails. He then interacted more socially, but it didn't happen. Zach thinks Dick's tactics didn't work on him, but worked on others. Zach thinks they're both good people, will be friends eventually. He said he never really aligned with D&D.
Goodbye messages -- Daniele considers him a friend. He hurt her feelings, but it's a game. Sorry. Dick -- You put up a hell of a flight, but you're not a master strategizer. Sorry to see you go, but it means Daniele is here, so not sorry.
America's Player - Who do we want Eric to vote for to win BB8? Daniele or Dick? He also gets to campaign for the person.
Okay, I know the screen cap above isn't a current one. But the feeds are blocked and I didn't get a chance to post this one the other night during the first part of the HOH comp. I thought it looked all dramatic and stuff, so there you are. I'm using it for this entry!
Speaking of images, I received more word about graphic artist Zoetawny's computer woes. She's in the process of replacement, but there are issues with recovering her data and programs from her deceased computer. She should be back online before the end of the month.
Onto the events of the day from inside that Big Brother House of the Donato Duo's Dwindling Days (and Zach, but he ruins my alliteration):
- All three had to pack. "I haaate to pack, it hurts my arms!" Even Dick laughed at that one. It hurts Daniele's arms because she has so many things that she has to roll them really tiny.
- Dick and Zach talked about their eye and ear infections. (Most likely flared by the comp the other night.)
- Zach and Daniele started to talk about the blue ball going into Jameka's tube literally from the sky and BB not viewing the tapes right away ... then the feeds got blocked.
- They waited through an outdoor lockdown, then napped and Daniele primped.
- Dick didn't primp.
- Nor did Zach.
- The feeds have been blocked for an extended time now and I don't foresee them returning before the show starts.
As usual, I'll be live-blogging the show as it airs here on the East Coast. At about 8 PM ET, I'll put an entry up and you're all invited to comment!
I will not be live-blogging the President's appearance after Big Brother. I'm so sorry to disappoint everyone, but I have a prior commitment.
;-)
Daniele and Evel Dick play cards as Zach gets his sleep. Not much has been going on since I last reported. Daniele and Dick studied throughout most of the evening preparing Dick for the final HOH comp part against Zach tonight. Zach had to quiz himself.
Tonight's speech by the President is scheduled to start after the show ends here on the East Coast, so it looks like the show is a go on time this evening!
If you're up or West Coast -- Julie Chen is on Craig Ferguson (after Letterman).
NOW.
"This sucks!" Yes, the second part of the final Head of House competition was held during/after the Kaysar and Howie chat. Guess who didn't win?
Despite all of the thoughts that Evel Dick would throw it to his loving daughter, Dick won part two. So, it will be Dick against Zach in the final part.
Here's the lowdown (and the "Jackie" posting in comments about it wasn't me and are totally bogus -- you should know my writing style by now!):
- When the feeds first returned, Dick was telling Zach it was a tough competition.
- Daniele was upset with herself that she didn't win it. Dick told her he was doing it for her. (I think he thinks if he brings Daniele to the final two, she would win the jury votes over him.)
- A car prize was somewhere in the comp, but Dick said something about they got gypped on it, not sure what's up with that.
- Dick said they would have their fairytale ending.
- They think the final part will be about their fellow housemates. Dick reminded Daniele that he spent much more time with all of them dating back to LNC than did Zach.
- They said something about a satellite used, perhaps for Julie Chen.
- Daniele said something about a track and we got blocked.
That's the REAL skinny. I had my notifier off for the comments and didn't see the impostor until after the fact. Have any of you ever seen me call Daniele "Dani"? Tsk, tsk. Dick and Daniele didn't fight. She doesn't seem happy that she lost and he won, but there was no blow-up, none at all.
D'oh! I almost forgot ... Howie Gordon and Kaysar Ridha are being interviewed on feed 4 right now just as Janelle was interviewed last week. If you have the feeds, tune in! It should run until 10 PM ET.
It's basically a house of silence, at least for a good portion of the day. I'll get into the skinny, but a few things first:
Please, please, please ... stop casting aspersions on others in the comments area for whomever they like or dislike in the game. We watch the show for entertainment. Just because a person is cheering on Dick for the win doesn't mean they necessarily agree with or condone his behavior. Just because someone cheers on Zach doesn't mean the person is someone to be attacked.
Dick, Daniele, and Zach are not responsible for the ills of the world, nor for fixing them. We're seeing them in odd circumstance and, while we might think we know them, it's not as if we really do. We watch them with our years of personal experiences, biases, and more in the mix. As often is the case, when you don't like someone, you notice the bad. When you do like them, it's more the good that you see.
In the end, none of them will have any impact on us in our lives. What's more possible is that the friends made online might actually meet up in "real life." It's fine to have different favorites, but please treat others with respect.
/soapbox
Here are the day's events from inside that Big Brother House of Shiver Me Timbers and Let Me Off This Carrot-Stump:
- They all slept in, got up, went back to sleep, etc. Dick was in horrible shape this morning -- he was tossing and turning in his bed saying "ow-ow-ow."
- It didn't help matters that the morning was spent in indoor lockdown with noise going on from workers. Dick couldn't smoke, nor could he really sleep.
- Dick and Daniele speculated a lot about the upcoming part two of the HOH -- they will be pitted against each other and the winner will take on Zach in the third part.
- The Donatos think they've "already won" and are confident.
- But, not really. Daniele is getting her antsy pre-comp worries on and Dick is pacing when he's up and about, getting grouchier by the moment.
- Dick is on a rant about the blue ball in Jameka's tube during the Niagara Balls comp. I'm not sure if he just thinks the comp should have been redone or if he thinks Zach had something to do with it. He's complaining that they didn't investigate it sooner with all the cameras and such. He believes that Zach shouldn't have won that POV.
- Zach worked out on the treadmill and occasionally tried brief conversations with the Donatos to no avail.
- Zach is a man alone studying his fingers and his lucky seashell a lot.
- Daniele actually asked Zach what he was doing at one point to get a "whatever" answer. I think he's decided to block them out as they blocked him out.
- Not much going on. They still don't know when the second part of the comp will be held, nor can they figure out the TV scheduling of events.
UPDATE 2:20 PM ET - Dick is now awake and roaming the house. He looks like he's in some pain from the comp. Also, I neglected to mention it earlier (because I conked out after I wrote it), but I also have a report on the comp over at TV Squad.
The current screen cap from inside the Big Brother 8 house above.
The current view in Jackie's apartment below.
Zach told Dick he was incredible. Dick is upset with himself. He's not in good shape. He wants a cigarette and to warm up.
I want a nap.
UPDATE 4:40 AM ET - Dick and Zach still at it. Zach is looking a bit more tired, but then he starts up like a machine again. UPDATE 3:40 AM ET - Dick is looking tired, Zach still going steady. The rabbit never returned. I think Dick would have quit except he wants to do it for Daniele.

UPDATE 1:05 AM ET - Daniele apparently killed the rabbit. The rabbit hasn't moved since she fell. The feeds were blocked a while, came back to Daniele sitting in a towel, Zach and Dick still standing on their carrots. The rabbit is broken. A staff voice started to talk to Daniele, then blocked feeds again.
UPDATE 12:40 AM ET - Daniele is OUT. The rabbit sort of chugged mid-track on her and she fell. She's hysterically crying and taking a shower.
UPDATE 12:25 AM ET -- Daniele is still shivering, occasionally crying, and not looking too strong. Evel Dick is into his tirade, intimidate, take off guard, etc., approach screaming at Zach. Zach is ignoring him and concentrating on the bunny. Both Dick and Zach look like they can last a LONG TIME. Dick's voice might give out before his hopping feet.

11:00 PM -- all still in, quadcam view below.
As of approximately 10:52 PM ET, all three still in. I took these screen caps from 10:45 - 10:50.

Feeds just returned. I see Daniele and Zach, Dick might be off camera -- we have two views the same. Will update and screen cap. I hear Dick's jump, so all three still in. No one's talking. This is a current quadcam shot.
UPDATE - I think Dick might be out of it ... just caught a shot of his back and he looked like he was standing on the ground. Dick is IN STILL (oops) -- verified ... different shot of the rabbit. Screen caps coming.
The show is about to start here on the East Coast. I'll be (very) frequently updating this entry as it airs. Everyone is invited to join in with your comments!
Please forgive any typos or misspellings as I'm paying more attention to the show than what I'm doing. ;-)
They're doing the recap now.
Julie is explaining how the one person not on the block after the POV ceremony (not inclluding Zach, HOH) is the sole vote. Dick tells us that Zach finding his religion due to Jameka is a statement which makes him sick. Zach is retelling the noms in the black and white recap.
Jameka now feels bad about some of the things she's said about Zach. Dick again calls Zach on how he's played the game -- the butt-kissing to the HOH. Lots of threats and smugness going on.
Zach wants Dick to go down in flames. The POV comp is ahead, plus they're finally going to show the sequester house.
Whoa! Nice fancy villa for Dustin. And, now Jen is indeed there! Dustin and Jen say they'll have a blast, but looked fake to me. Now Amber's there.
And Amber cried.
Jessica arrives. Amber says the only good person left in the house is Jameka. Now Eric sneaks in the back door. Jessica will have a good time with him, but didn't want to see him that quickly. They watch Dick winning HOH again, then Zach winning the POV. Eric wonders what will happen when he tells them he's America's Player. Dustin thinks Zach and Jameka should work together. Jen had JenBot manner comment.
Who will win the Power of Veto? Zach and Jameka are studying together. Dick is certain that they can beat the other two. Daniele is less confident although Dick tries to pep-talk her. She growls.
Zach and Jameka pray together. Zach wants to perform well and beat "Evel." Zach still wants it to be Daniele going home.
They gather in the yard for the POV comp. Big Brother Decoder is the game. Clues apply to houseguests, then spin wheel to corresponding letter. All the clues lead to the answer -- how many seconds have you been in the BB house?
Daniele is thinking. She wanted to do the faces first so the numbers would just flow. Jameka put a sock and a shoe on on foot, so to speak ... doing both one at a time. Zach is clueless. He's thinking in variables. He finally caught onto the comp.
Dick thought he was done first, but he made an error. Daniele has all the faces, just getting her numbers now. Zach thought he had it but was wrong, but Daniele got it! Screams of delight! I think she shocked herself. Jameka quietly said, "I'm going home."
Jameka tells us she has no one to blame but herself. Rock music is playing as Dick rants at Zach in his glee. Zach tells him he has no jury votes. Daniele just looks like she's in pain through all of the face-off.
Zach tells us that he thinks he's stronger and smarter than Dick. "My mind is like a samurai swoird."
Dick told Jameka he'd rather be in the final three with her instead of Zach. Dick, still excited, tells us this is the season of the Donatos.
Back to Julie -- she tells Daniele that she's tied with Janelle in wins. Zach says Jameka got his religion back on track.
Live veto meeting -- Daniele uses it to save she says it doesn't matter but she will save her father. Dick didn't think she was going to do it. Jameka goes on the block.
Jameka pelads her case, per se. Daniele, what can I say? If you don't use it on me, I might not talk to you for another couple of years (laughing).
Dick votes to evict Jameka (nicely) and keeps saying how surprised he is that Daniele actually used the veto to save him. Jameka leaves very gracefully.
Julie and Jameka hug, the HG wait for her picture to go black and white. Dick is still surprised. Zach says it was cool
Julie asks if Zach will be her friend outside. She said they'll keep in touch. She isn't surprised at Dick's behavior, it was his strategy. Race question -- she had such a wonderful time and people are people. Goodbye messages -- Daniele, very nice. Dick is a gentleman. Zach is grateful he gave her the chance to fight back in the game, very similar. Julie shows the widescreen of Jameka's new niece.
Coming up, the battle for the final HOH begins...
The winner of round one advances to round three, etc., as in previous seasons.
It's called the Bunny Hop, stand on a huge carrot, hold onto the key in one hand. White rabbit on a track, they must dodge the rabbit, jump. If they let go of the key, blcok the rabbit, etc., they're eliminated.
According to Julie this can go on all night. I predict a faster rabbit or alternating sppeds, plus "rain" or something. The show hasn't ended yet, but I just want to let you know that I'll be providing updates at least on the hour (or immediate if something happens).
Sure enough, the rain has started.
The final HOH will be crowned Thursday and we'll have our final two. Sunday is a "Best of " show and Tuesday is the finale.
Once again, the house was on the quiet side today. They know it's a live show, so Jameka's primping.
The big news of the day is that they all have to pack, not just Jameka. Of course, the grassy knoll theorists are out and about. I don't have any insider information, but it seems to me that because it's a live show with a live POV meeting, everyone but Zach (who can't go on the block because he's HOH) would have to pack. While we know Daniele will save herself or Dick, because it will happen live, they have to be prepared. Technically, it's possible that Daniele, Dick, or Jameka could be evicted tonight although we're sure it's going to Jameka.
I guess we'll know in a few hours, eh? As usual, I'll be live-blogging the show as it airs here in the NYC area (starting at 9 PM ET). Everyone's invited!
UPDATE at 7:25 PM ET -- The feeds had been blocked, came on while Jameka was packing and Zach supervising her. Dick did his intimidation bit on Zach, although Zach wasn't too intimidated. This is what Dick had planned for the veto meeting, but can't do on the live show. He got out his insults, remarks about Zach sucking up to Jameka for the vote, etc. He's in full force. I wish he'd use a different tactic -- this is OLD.
Then Dick told Jameka if there was anything he could do for her, just ask.
Then he lit into Zach again.
I know that some of the blog readers really enjoy The Biggest Loser, so I wanted to pass on some news I received about tonight's premiere. Alas, there's a time conflict with tonight's Big Brother live show, but here's the skinny!
The show starts at 8 PM ET/PT and it's a two-hour premiere. After it airs, NBC will be blogging the events (by the show's trainers themselves) at this blog site. You can go to that site now to leave any questions you might have about the trainers, contestants (past or for the new season) or whatever might be on your mind about the show.
Then, after the premiere ends at 10 PM ET/7 PT, you can check for answers and the buzz!
As I post this, the houseguests are asleep. Zach turned in early, but the others made an attempt to stay up until the ShoToo show ended. Daniele, once again, had her feet (bare feet this time) all over the kitchen table as she talked to Dick a few hours ago.
Dick made a tuna salad and Daniele told him it reeked. Daniele ate a cut-up apple with peanut butter on it. They actually got along well although she said she didn't want him to go to Europe with her.
Daniele told the Internet that if you buy the feeds, only buy for the first few months as it gets boring. Yes!
Lots of talk about the wrap party and such earlier. Something is being built in the yard, but that's about all that's been going on.
Jameka is sitting in the HOH room with Zach watching the spy screen. She's developed Eric Eyes. What's up with that? She looks guilty and sneaky like she's shoplifting a poodle or something.
Zach, on the other hand, watches with somber determination, yet with a smidgen of defeat in his eyes.
In other news from that Big Brother House of Supercilious Sycophants:
- Evel Dick and Daniele trashtalked Zach to each other in the early morning hours.
- They say it's chilly in California. (It's hot and muggy here in the NYC area -- blech.)
- Throughout the day, they all tried memorizing events, fellow houseguest facts, and such in case one of the parts of the HOH comp deals with them.
- Heh. As I was typing this, Jameka was trying to do math about the houseguests helping Zach and all the BB voice said was, "Jameka, knock it off!" She jumped back. "That's illegal? It's illegal? I was only trying to use the tools you've provided us."
- Zach told Jameka he's determined to go for the grand prize -- $500,000.
- "Mmm. Mmm? Mmm." <-- insert Jameka canned response.
- Daniele thinks it's odd that BB hasn't said anything about the POV Ceremony. (It's usually held around 5 PM their time on Mondays and the POV gets called to the DR beforehand.)
- Daniele suggested it might be held tomorrow on the live show (so they've been told the show is live). Dick doesn't want it to be live because he has an Dick-Intimidation Speech all ready and won't be able to do it on live TV.
- Dick thinks that BB changed the whole show schedule because the game's "all played out." (You would think a fan of the show like he and others are in the house would realize that the show NEVER ends the last week of September! Each year the HG think the show is a week longer than it is. It must be the date on the contract they sign or something.)
- Daniele thinks they (Donatos) have had an advantage in the game because they've had each other in the house. Dick doesn't think they've had any disadvantage.
- Zach is seriously studying dates, times, people, objects in the house ... with Jameka quizzing him and coming up with subject matter for more studying.
- Will it help? Maybe.
It's not on site as I post this, but the tribute to Adam Finley from TV Squad will be at this link when it is. If you read the posts, I think you'll see why Adam's sudden passing was such a shock and tragedy. Truly a great mind for writing and a very nice person, too.
As I post this, Daniele is the only person up in the house and she's making her infamous cookies. It makes me wonder if that's all she makes at her own home! All had gone to bed earlier, but Daniele apparently can't sleep so it's cookie time.
When told that it was September 9, not the 11th, Jameka really doesn't believe it. They talked about previous houseguests, the mustarding (they think either Nick or Eric did it), the banner planes the one week. It's just been rehashing the past. While Jameka hung out with Daniele and Dick, Zach was more distant.
Still no brouhahas.
There it is, the epitome of excitement in the house -- Jameka is reading the bible!
There's no drama for your mama tonight!
- Daniele is sure the Donatos will win it all.
- Dick did laundry. The machine is still not working properly, so he put in more soap thinking if the clothes don't get clean, at least they'll be soapy.
- Daniele exercised.
- They all ate together.
- They still don't know of the planned Tuesday eviction.
- There have been no brouhahas.
Due to the U.S. Open, the show is starting late here in the NYC area. But, finally, it's starting!
As it airs, this post will be frequently updated with the latest happenings. Please forgive any typos or misspellings as I tend to pay more attention to the TV than to my keyboard or monitor. Let's hope I keep my fingers over the right keys or orirr3dda!
I'd like to thank Isabelle -- a fellow TV Squad writer -- for letting us know the start of the show from Canada (where they started it on time) in the comments of my previous post!
Also, sigh ... I had to turn word verification back on -- got hit by a porn spambot.
We're into the recap and now Eric's getting evicted all over again. Now Jessica's getting evicted all over again. Deja vu all over again in spades no less! Thanks to Isabelle I know that this recap stuff is going to take up much too long a portion of tonight's show. What's up with that?
Dick is offering Jameka the fake deal for her vote to get her to the final three. This is all out of time sequence, it took place before Jessica's eviction. We're into the HOH between Dick, Daniele, and Eric from Thursday night before Eric was evicted.
Now Dick is nominating Eric all over again. To the Niagara Balls veto ... again. (Why did I bother watching the show last Thursday?) Amazing ... Zach won it for the second time, the dude has his balls all in a row, eh? Eric goes out the door again.
Now Jameka thinks she's on her own in the game. Dick is smug and is sure he and Daniele will be in the final three. Zach is feeling himself to be an outsider in their group. Daniele thinks it's funny that if they betray Zach they will have betrayed everyone. Zach sort of tires his own intimidation tactic with them -- you better not send me packing!
The houseguests found the Memory Wall full of new pictures. They know they'll be tied into the HOH comp somehow, so they must be studied. Daniele wants to win and is surprised how much she wants to win for both herself and her father. The comp is Mushroom Madness and they have to answer questions on the pictures (which were based on comps).
Yipes, the questions are a bit tough! Yeah, we can get the answers because they're showing us the pics as Dick asks the questions. Zach is in the lead by one right now with Jameka and Daniele on his tail. Whoops, Jameka got one wrong.
Zach and Daniele are tied. It's into a tiebreaker between Zach and Daniele. Daniele looks panicky, Zach subdued. Zach is the new HOH, Daniele hugs him. Dick thinks they're still safe because they've been working together with Zach.
Yeah, right.
Dick tells Daniele how proud he is of her. Daniele sulks, fusses, and is being petulant. Dick thinks that they're safe. He's only worried that Jameka might win POV, but not all that worried at all. Now you see why I summed up Daniele's post-HOH comp behavior in my feeds post with "This sucks." and "It sucks." The show made it more bearable, but that went on FOREVER.
Zach's HOH room party was a bit lackluster, but he's happy with his letter from home and the photos.
Evel Dick went to Zach pleading Daniele's case in the case of a Jameka POV win. Dick pushes for a Jameka nomination and voting her out. Zach tells him that he wants to be with him in the final two. Dick knows one Donato has to go on the block, but he doesn't want both of them up there.
Zach decides it's time to work with Jameka. He tells her he wants to put both of the Donatos on the block, she needs to play "her ass off" in the POV and then vote Daniele out.
Dniele still looks all mopey as she visits Zach in the HOH room. She asks him if he's going to put both her and her father up. She defends her father's gameplay. She tells him that they saved him in the game. (Why do I get the feeling that she's defending her father so much so Zach will save her, not him in the nominations?)
Zach doesn't tell her what he'll do but mumbles after she leaves ... "Nobody can beat your dad? Your dad's an idiot!"
She runs back to her father. Dick thinks he's stupid and decides he has to talk to him. He reminds Zach of the deal to the final three. (What about Dick's deal with Eric and Jessica?) Dick starts to get abrupt and intimidating.
It all hinges on the POV and it looks certain that Zach will nominate Daniele and Dick as he told Jameka. Dick and Daniele seem to feel he'll do that, too. And, of course, we know he will ... but it's time for a commercial!
Time for the nominations. It's a typical drawn-out long speech by Zach. On the feeds he said the DR told him to make it that way. He points out that Jameka restored his faith in God, which is huge to him. He pulls out Jameka's key. Dick tells him that it didn';t work for the first two HOHs and it won't work for them. Zach says he doesn't like Dick's tactics, but they work for him. He talks about Daniele's power in comps. "I'm the muscle and I'm going to muscle you out."
Jameka is sitting there looking dumbfounded and confused. Daniele is jumpy, Dick is getting into gear.
Dick is confident -- "If we win the POV, we win the game."
The show tonight here on the East Coast is going to start nearly a half-hour behind schedule due to the US Open. When it starts, I'll start a live-blogging post. Since I got hit by a porn spambot, I had to turn on word verification once again -- I apologize.
In house news, there's not too much going on since they slept away most of the day so far, but here's the skinny:
- Dick is giving Zach the cold shoulder, but not the nasty.
- Zach can't stop telling Jameka how much he hates Dick. He told her that if he wins HOH, he's taking Daniele to the final two.
- Jameka exercised and keeps working on her crafts plate she started with the kit from the other night.
- Daniele is being congenial to both Zach and Jameka. Dick is being congenial to Jameka.
- Jameka and Zach are certain that today is 9/11.
- Jameka and Zach don't know that the eviction of Jameka will take place Tuesday -- they're still thinking Thursday.
This is my third installment on the new castaways for Survivor 15: China. I know I'm rather slowly muddling through this, but I swear I'll have my cast thoughts up before the season premiere! Previous castaway thoughts can be found here. And here.
Let's get it started!
Oh, my. Erik has one of the longest bio sections I think I've ever seen for a contestant on the show. He's been a pauper, a prince, and a king! Er, okay. I made that up or stole it from an old song.
After reading his 1000 word (or more) bio, I come away with he's a rock musician, has done modeling, is a Christian, and was sidelined from his track star status due to a broken leg.
He thinks he's "genuine, honest, sensitive, competitive, a problem solver, athletic and sometimes, a perfectionist." Well, he does, does he? In his video on the CBS site, he adds another quality -- he's good-looking!
I don't know. I usually end up getting turned off when folks go on about how handsome or attractive they think they are. Yeah, when they do that, they often are attractive, but narcissistic ways are often a hint at other behaviors which annoy me.
So, let me move on to his favorites list. Maybe he can redeem himself with me and be something more than eye candy. He likes outdoor activities, always a good thing for Survivor, but he doesn't list the show itself. He enjoys The Beatles and Led Zepplin -- odd tastes for his age bracket. Hmm. For his cereal, he likes Cinnamon Toast Crunch. That shows he's young at heart, but thinking a bit beyond Froot Loops.
His chances? He's a puzzler to me. I think on the physical level, he'll do fine. But something just isn't sitting right with me about him. In his video he said he didn't want to come across as arrogant. Y'know, I think that just may be it. I think he might have an alpha male thing a'goin' on. I predict out before mid-pack targeted as a threat by the others. Of course, I could be wrong!
Next I'm taking a closer look at the youngest Survivor contestant ever, Frosti. I don't think you can understand how hard it is for me not to make Frosty the Snowman references. Dang, almost impossible.
First off, although he sounds good and seems very capable ... how did he get on the show? I thought the minimum age was 21 and he's only 20. Since his estranged father isn't on the show (keyword: Donato), I'm not sure how he's there, not at all.
Getting past his age and his name, I checked out his bio page on the CBS website. He does seem to have quite a background for the mere child he is. Oops, I didn't want to mention his age again. He's smart, athletic, well-traveled, and more. That Parkour stuff (read at the bio link) might be a big plus for him in the game.
I checked his video and, except for him mentioning his age so much (oops), I thought he came across as eager and personable. In his bio he says he's creative, dynamic, and determined.
In his favorites, he doesn't mention Survivor as a TV show, but does mention Jack Kerouac as an author. Hmmm. He enjoys his Frosted Flakes, but I sort of suspected a cereal with a sugar punch for him.
I don't know. I kind of like this kid. He has spirit in his video and could have what it takes. A helpful hint for him -- don't go around talking about how you're the youngest castaway ever. I think he could last a long, long time.
Next is Jaime. Not to be catty, but I don't think I'll like her much on the show. When I watch an introductory video and the person goes on about how catty other girls are when it comes to her -- it sets off red flags in my mind. It comes across as an "I'm better and prettier than you could ever dream to be" state of mind. Perhaps she'll get together with Erik.
In her bio page, she looks better than in the video. She's a college senior on an academic scholarship (has the brights!) who works part-time as a waitress throughout the school year (has a work ethic). She thinks she's friendly, energetic, and candid. In the video she mentions that she tends to bottle up the frustration until she "goes redneck" on folks.
A look at her favorites reveal that she's a fan of both Survivor and David Letterman. I might have to change my opinion of her! A Letterman fan? Cool. Uh-oh. She lists multiple cereals -- Rice Krispies Treats, Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch. She's fickle! Ack! Plus, they're all cereals geared to the child within.
Y'know, I'd love to say for the Letterman nod, I'll like her in the game. But I just can't do it. I think she may last a while, but I think that there will be issues with playing well with others or attitude.
Here it is going for nearly 4:30 PM here on the East Coast -- Jameka and Daniele just got up. Zach and Evel Dick are still in bed. Not together, of course!
Now, THAT is something they should do something about next season!
