Survivor 44: Meet the Soka Tribe

I've read and watched interviews with the castaways. Here I will be mentioning some pros and cons for each of them and my own opinion on how well they might do. Mind you, I could be completely wrong with said opinion!

Claire Rafson

Pros: She's been watching the show since the age of four -- peeping though the keyhole to watch it. She seems very resilient and determined.
Cons: I'm really not seeing any glaring cons.
How will she do? Unless she's thought of as a threat either physically or socially, she should go far. To the end? Well, maybe.

Danny Massa

Pros: NYC firefighter in the Bronx, so should be in great shape. Lists himself as kind, passionate and determined.
Cons: Not sure if his plan of action going in without a plan is the best idea.
How will he do? He should do well. He seems very likable and should do well in challenges. I predict definitely will make it through the merge and a possible final four.

Frannie Marin

Pros: Meditates and does yoga. Hopefully that will help her.
Cons: Um ... thinks working in a nail salon has prepared her for being on the show. Enough said?
How will she do? I just don't know about this gal. She doesn't list any athletic endeavors. Easy early out.

Heidi Lagares-Greenblatt

Pros: Energetic, looks athletic enough, wants to do well on challenges.
Cons: She says she's loud. Why must people be loud? Loud is not a great thing to be!
How will she do? She's pretty determined. She also has 40 patents, so I'm thinking she has to have inventive skills that could help out at camp. Unless her loudness comes off as being abrasive, she should go far. I'm not thinking sole Survivor for her, though.

Josh Wilder

Pros: Ambitious, athletic, intelligent, cites Jeremy Collins and Avi as previous players he wants to be like. I think Avi was the first winner of Survivor New Zealand, so he must be a big fan although not saying superfan.
Cons: Another one who want to hide his real profession.
How will he do? I think he could do well. He probably has one of the best backstories of all and it could garner him admiration from the others. He had a kidney transplant at nine and says the donor is responsible for his being alive, he had stomach cancer at 25 and had his stomach removed. He is cancer-free now. With that story, if they know it, if he makes it to the end, he will win.

Matt Blankinship

Pros: Apparently a big fan, has run a marathon, has previously applied to be on the show (so not a recruit!).
Cons: Says his failures give him an edge because he always gets on his feet and tries again. Um, dude ... that would mean you're destined to fail at this the first time!
How will he do? I don't know. I'm pulling a blank on Mr. Blankinship! For some reason, I think he might not have the social game he needs.

Survivor 44: Meet the Tika Tribe

I've read and watched interviews with the castaways. Here I will be mentioning some pros and cons for each of them and my own opinion on how well they might do. Mind you, I could be completely wrong with said opinion!

Bruce Perreault

Pros: Older, watched the show since Season 1, raised in the foster system so should be chill compared to some, looks very fit, does not have the Warwick accent which can be distracting.
Cons: Thinks some may assume he's arrogant (there's often a reason when people assume that), claims he doesn't care about challenges and food rewards but is more interested in analyzing the other players and their social games (hmm), not into searching for advantages.
How will he do? Here's a guy who has a good possibility of doing well but might be his own worst enemy. I think he just might be a touch arrogant. If he rubs people the wrong way and doesn't fare well in the challenges, he could be gone pre-merge.

Carolyn Wiger

Pros: Another one watching the show since its beginning. She's not going to lie or hide what she does in life. Wants to look for advantages (which can actually be a double-edged sword. Thinks she'll come across as goofy and no threat to others.
Cons: She seems to sentimentalize the backstories from other seasons. I can only hope she plans to compete and work hard in the challenges.
How will she do? Unless she has a physical side I'm not seeing, I can see her getting her torch snuffed early in the game.

Carson Garrett

Pros: Um. Um. Superfan, I guess. So, he says. Young. Healthy. Friendly.
Cons: Claiming superfan after watching for six years. In one interview he claimed to be a rocket scientist ... after two years of college. Seemingly quite delusional about his own self.
How will he do? I'd be surprised if he made it past the merge unless he's a big help around the camp. He isn't planning on telling the others how smart he is. I don't see why they would even care. He's a college kid, not a billionaire that others might think doesn't need the money.

Helen Li

Pros: Been watching the show for ten years which isn't bad at her age, seems to adapt to fitting in well with various cultures, thinks others will see her as friendly, bubbly and maybe an airhead.
Cons: I don't see her being strong in challenges. She says she has a horrible sense of direction. She thinks she's bubbly.
How will she do? She could either be among the first bunch out or be the one people bring to the end thinking she has no chance of winning. One or the other -- I don't think she will be an in-between. I don't care for bubbly.

Sarah Wade

Pros: Another fan since the show started (although she would have been very young for sure). She seems quite determined, plans to look for advantages and learn from others. Likes the outdoors and outdoors sports.
Cons: Not seeing too many.
How will she do? Of this group so far, I think she might be the strongest socially and probably decent physically. She is determined and part of her inspiration comes about as her best friend died a few years ago and she wants to give life its all.

Yamil "Yam Yam" Arocha

Pros: Has been watching from the 1st season when he was 13. Probably will have a good social game. He's confident of both his physical and mental strength. He has extreme weather experience.
Cons: He says he's loud. That can annoy people. I'm not as confident regarding his physical strength as he is. Well, he might be physically strong, but can he win challenges?
How will he do? I think he'll probably make it past the merge and maybe near the end ... but not to the end.

Survivor 44: It's Coming!

Yes, Survivor 44 is almost here! Its season premiere is Wednesday, March 1 at 8PM ET/PT. Once again, the season is set in Fiji. It seems like that's its home now. I do miss the seasons of the past when they set the show in places like Australia and Africa. But they don't consult me on these things!

I will be delving into each castaway between now and when the show starts. However, I'll give you all a sneak peak at the tribes now ...

Tonight's season finale is three hours long. Get some snacks now before it starts!

I will be live blogging the major events as the show airs here on the East Coast. Refresh the page to get the latest news. As always, the real party is in the comments section. I hope to see you there!

The Esteemed Lifeguard SueGee has updated the FINAL blog pool -- check it out to find your castaway!

Jesse       AprilW, Donna in AL
Cassidy     Cherrypie, Kelsey NY
Karla       Glenn Allen, monty924
Gabler     Donna in FL, Joanne Victoria
Owen    Mike Barer, SueGee

Jury
Jeanine
James
Ryan
Noelle
Sami
Cody
Karla

Survivor fans ready?

We start off with Night 23 at Tribal and Jesse plays the idol for Owen, votes out Cody. Karla uses her idol because she's worried now. And Jesse still has an idol ... Cody asked him to hold it. Oh my. Survivor brownie points for strategy there, Jesse.

Gabler thinks he is ruling his destiny. We're getting the Final Five thoughts on making it to the end. Karla seems the most worried about how she will do.

They're exploring the new campsite. Oh my ... five envelopes with clues to a secret advantage. They have to solve a long word scramble phrase to get the actual clue to the advantage. Owen thinks the biggest game threats are Karla and Jesse.

Karla figures out the phrase first and is off running as well as she can with her ankle. Then it's Owen off running. He passes Karla. They're both looking for a tree with a knot at the base by the shore. WHOA! Karla worked her way around Owen and snags the clue! Owen is not a happy camper. He was right there and she reached around him!

It's a slight advantage for today's Immunity Challenge.

Day 24 ... Immunity Challenge. Karla presents her advantage paper. Maneuver a buoy in water through obstacles, untie puzzle bag on the beach, transport puzzle blocks on a teeter-totter thing, solve puzzle. They have to carry the puzzle blocks with two hand grip short posts.  Jesse is struggling. Reward - steak, baked potatoes, wine and cheesecake. Karla starts with ten puzzle blocks, approximately a third.

Karla is in the lead. It's a word scramble. All five are trying to solve the puzzle now.

OWEN wins it! "You cannot hide in a dangerous game."

He can choose one person to go with him to the Sanctuary -- he chooses Cassidy. Wow! What a spread! Both are glad that Karla didn't win today. But is she more dangerous than Jesse? Hmm. Owen thinks he would lose in a final three with Jesse. Cassidy would like to see Karla go tonight. Neither think Gabler is a threat. They decide on getting Karla out tonight.

Back at camp Gabler was hoping he could have gone with Owen. He's breaking down physically. Karla and Jesse know that they are the likely targets. No one knows that Jesse has an idol -- it was Jeanine's.

Karla tells us she's telling Jesse she wants Cassidy out, but in reality, she wants Jesse out -- thinking that he made the biggest move of the season getting Cody out. They talk to Gabler, he hears Cassidy. However, Karla takes him aside and goes after Jesse. She talks to Owen about it, too. Then she talks to Cassidy. Cassidy is not as accepting about the Jesse target. Karla pretty much tells her she will poison the jury against her and not vote for her if she makes the final three.

Cassidy runs to Jesse and tells him. Jesse is torn between Cassidy and Karla vote out. He tells us he will use the idol but hasn't figured out HOW he will use it.

Tribal Council time! Jesse says that Karla threw some punches today. Karla talks about Jesse's excellent game move last Tribal. She wants him out and says it. Jesse says he feels good and shows his idol, saying he's punching his ticket to the final four. Jeanine on jury is in shock -- they all thought the idol went home with Dwight. Karla says there are two other options -- Gabler and Cassidy. Hmm.

Whoa -- Karla and Jesse talk and agree to take out Cassidy. Then Jesse talks to Gabler, Owen joins them. Hmm. Cassidy votes Karla.

Jesse plays the idol for himself.

The tally -- Jesse, Karla, Karla, Karla ... three is enough. She takes it very well. When the votes are shown, the other four all voted Karla. I updated the blog pool above.

Right to the final Immunity Challenge. Use a long fork, bowl through a channel in a structure, the platform is suspended on a string, fifteen bowls. I'm thinking this might be something that Gabler could be good at. We'll see. He's leading by just a bit over Cassidy. Jesse is doing the worst.

Argh. Gabler's stack fell down. It's between Owen and Cassidy with three bowls each left. Owen's stack goes over!

CASSIDY WINS IMMUNITY! None of the guys look happy. And the only one who congratulates her is Owen.

She has indeed done well. They return to camp to find fire making supplies. Owen thinks it will be himself and Jesse at the fire. He thinks Jesse may have it in the bag. But he doesn't want to ever give up. He tells Cassidy he thinks he can win against Jesse in fire. She says she wants someone who can beat Jesse with fire.

Both Jesse and Owen practice fire. Jesse tells Cassidy that she should go against him with fire. She is not receptive! Jesse is choking up as he tells us he won't stop. Gabler tells Cassidy that he thinks he can beat Jesse in fire. He wants to win fire against Jesse for points with the jury. But his body is betraying him. He tells us he intends to donate the entire prize to Veterans in Need if he wins.

They start walking off to Tribal. Both Gabler and Owen want to go against Jesse with fire. Oh my.

Tribal Council - Night 25. The jury seems impressed that Cassidy won the final immunity. Jesse looks miserable. Jesse says his pitch to Cassidy. Both Gabler and Owen say they want to make fire against Jesse. Cassidy says she will do what's best for her own game. Earlier Jeff pointed out that Owen and Cassidy with three Immunity wins each, have won 2/3 of the Immunity Challenges in the game.

Cassidy takes Owen with her. So, fire making for Gabler and Jesse.

GABLER makes the fastest fire ever made in the show. Jesse looks miserable. The jury was rooting for Jesse. That won't bode well for Gabler at the end.

Jesse cries. It's very sad. Gabler tries to comfort him. Jesse says he was playing for his kids, setting an example. He did that and felt he played a great game. Owen is crying. Everyone is a bit teary-eyed. Cassidy makes him laugh when she says she had to have him out or he would have won.

The final three are back at camp. Owen thinks he's the underdog. It sounds like at least some of the jury in confessionals agree and will support him.

They get the feast.

Gabler points out to us that he didn't receive one vote and is the old man of the show. They have some jury members point out his good points to us. And now we have Cassidy telling us why she needs to win and we get jury members pointing out her strengths. Cassidy is the champion, Owen is the underdog and Gabler is the outsider.

They're off to the jury questioning. Jeff pep talks them. Social, physical, strategic focus.

Jesse -- wishes them luck.

Noelle - Gabler differentiate game from others, trust and behind the scenes, had multiple ways to move along in the game. No one has written his name down, hope they will tonight. Cassidy - every vote was the right vote, close bonds with those who mattered, not personal, last woman standing. Owen - Underdog, superfan, scholar of the game, first tribe a disaster, thought he would be first boot, even worse after the merge, had to crawl and scratch himself out of the hole, learned he just needs to be himself.

James -- ACK THAT VOICE. Owen trust in Noelle. Gabler - Elie looked in my bag (Jeanine confesses), stirred pot, voted Elie out, then decided had to change his game.

Karla - Cassidy pre-merge move. Blindside Geo and get tribe in merge.

Jesse - Social relationships in game -- Gabler, hiding underwater - he's making the jury giggle. Cassidy -- in trenches with the right votes, people after her and she got them out.

Jeanine - Gaber and Owen closest alliances. Owen, Noelle then the final four. Gabler - had a few core alliances.

Sami - Gabler, were you going back and forth in alliances? Cassidy wonders if it's because he didn't seem like a threat or real alliances.

Ryan points out that the three won all but two immunities in the game. Noelle credits Cassidy for being a woman and winning so many challenges. Wants to know why Cassidy chose Gabler instead of doing fire against Jesse. Cassidy says that she deserved the immunity, and that Owen wouldn't have that win against Jesse. Owen points out that Karla snagged the advantage from him, and he had to win Immunity at five. He apologizes to James for blowing up at him.

Mistakes? Gabler and Cassidy think of conversations. Owen has many mistakes he made.

Last question -- Jesse how did you persuade people to vote your way? They bring up votes. Jeanine for Gabler, Cassidy the Ryan vote -- Ride or Die claims credit for that. Owen, no specific vote, no idols, no advantages. He showed he could be a key part rather than the actor.

Time to vote for a winner. James votes Cassidy. Karla votes Gabler. No other votes are shown.

Reads the votes right now in Fiji.

Cassidy, Gabler, Gabler, Gabler, Gabler, Gabler.

GABLER WINS! All the rest of the votes were for him! They celebrate right there with champagne and pizza! Congratulations blog pool winners Donna in FL and Joanne Victoria!

The jury tells Jeff the jury question answers gave Gabler the win.

Now he says he's the second player over 50 to win. He will make history another way. He says that he's donating the whole prize in his father's name to Veterans in Need. More tears. Gabler says they ALL are a part of the donation. Ryan, with a military dad, is really touched.

Gabler has proved he is the MAN of the Season!

Survivor 44 sneak peek ... you have to want it, you have to be fearless. NFL player. Rocket scientist. And more. Uh-oh ... medic call! It looks good. The premiere is March 4.

The Amazing Race 34: 'The Only Leg That Matters' Season Finale Blog Party - Dec. 7

The final three teams ...

I will be live blogging the major events as the show airs here on the East Coast. Refresh the page to get the latest news. As always, the real party is in the comments area -- I hope to see you there!

Tonight is the season finale. With no non-Philimination legs, it seems like a short season even though there were two mega-legs. Also, with the Covid era private plane, all teams were always so close to each other. It all was a bit odd. No U-Turns, either. Although an online friend at the time, Jym Buss, created the U-Turn, I've grown weary of it over the years. I liked all the teams this season. Well, I only vaguely recall the first team out and I didn't care much for one person on a team, but really liked the others. When it got down to about the last eight teams, I was onboard for any of them for the win.

Due to my own bias, my favorite team is Derek/Claire.

The Wonderful Lifeguard SueGee has updated the blog pool listing. Here's where we stand:

Derek & Claire -- Beachbound Gmom, ChicMc, Donna NY
Emily & Molly -- Joanne Victoria, Judi Sweeney, Sharon N
Luis & Michelle -- Andi, Mikes Girl, RJMnS

PHILIMINATED
Aastha & Nina
Tim & Rex
Rich & Dom
Linton & Sharik
Abby & Will (Covid)
Glenda & Lumumba
Quinton & Mattie
Marcus & Michael
Aubrey & David

Race fans ready? Let's GO!

We start with a recap. Teams are heading to Nashville. They will start the leg in Lynchburg. They have to bottle whiskey 30 Jack Daniels bottles ready for shipment. Molly and Emily finish first! They are driving to the next clue. Derek and Claire done. Five minutes behind, Luis and Michelle finish.

All three teams are in a row heading to the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge in Nashville.

Derek/Claire make it to the clue box first.

Roadblock -- Climb and Rappel to get a clue guitar pick. Derek through first. Emily doing well, Michelle having problems with it.

Derek/Claire heading to Gibson Garage. Emily coming down next. Michelle finally makes it down.

Derek/Claire to the next clue first. Gibson Guitar Delivery. Deliver one electric, two acoustic guitars to honkytonks in town. Luis/Michelle there next because the twins are lost again.

All three teams are delivering guitars now. Derek/Claire get their clues to go to the Municipal Auditorium first. An orchestra is playing the theme song. Teams have to bring the theme to life on giant piano keys (like in the movie BIG) to get the next clue to the Pit Stop. Luis/Michelle arrive, then Molly/Emily.

The 11 second timer on the piano keys is getting all the teams.

DEREK AND CLAIRE DID THE PIANO FIRST! They are on their way to the Pit Stop.

The twins get it next!

DEREK AND CLAIRE WIN THE AMAZING RACE!

Emily and Molly get second place. They are both in happy tears.

Luis and Michelle third.

Survivor 43: Episode 12 Blog Party - December 7

The Amazing Race season finale is on at 9PM EDT. A separate post for that show will magically appear a few minutes before the end of this show. It's odd that both shows aren't finishing up at the same time.

As for Survivor, I will be live blogging the major events as the show airs here on the East Coast. Refresh the page to get the latest news. As always, the real party is in the comments section. I hope to see you there!

The Esteemed Lifeguard SueGee has updated the blog pool -- check it out to find your castaway!

Cody       Cheryl in NC, ChicMc
Jesse       AprilW, Donna in AL
Cassidy     Cherrypie, Kelsey NY
Karla       Glenn Allen, monty924
Gabler     Donna in FL, Joanne Victoria
Owen    Mike Barer, SueGee

Jury
Jeanine
James
Ryan
Noelle
Sami

Survivor fans ready?

It's Day 22 with six remaining. Owen wanted Karla to vote for Cassidy to stir things up. But Karla voted for Sami instead. He still wants to stir up issues between Karla and Cassidy. And Cassidy seems to believe him.

She confronts Karla about it. Karla denies it that she was coming after her (even though she was). Cassidy is the only one who really knows about Karla's idol. Karla pulls out the tears. She tells Jesse so he can back her up.

Instead of backing her up, Jesse throws Karla under that good old reality bus to Cassidy.

It's right to the Reward Challenge. Random two teams of three, one person strapped into a huge ball and two pushing while blindfolded. The one in the ball has to direct the blindfolded through a course ending in a table maze that the one in the ball has to call. The Reward is Sanctuary and pastries.

Owen (in ball), Karla and Cody win Reward!

On Sanctuary Cody might be overdoing it on the caffeine and sugar. But the three start talking. Karla admits she's a threat but won't admit she has an idol. She fake cried to the guys, Cody and Owen believe she doesn't have an idol but that she is very dangerous. Owen wants Karla out more than Cassidy.

Back at camp they are eating rice and Gabler talks final three with Cassidy and Jesse. Cassidy tells them that Karla has an idol. They also know that Cody has one. Jesse has Jeanine's idol that no one knows about. Gabler and Cody talk about taking Karla and her idol down.

Immunity Challenge time! Race obstacles collecting number tiles, combination, retrieve key, unlock puzzle pieces, put puzzle together.

CASSIDY wins Immunity!

Owen and Gabler are worried if both Cody and Karla may play idols. Cody talks to Karla, both admit to idols. Cody tells her neither of them should use their idols and vote either Gabler or Owen. Hmm. Karla talks to Gabler who says he will vote Owen. Owen admits he will vote Gabler if he has to.

Cody tells Owen about his "plan" with Karla so they can blindside Karla. He is sure Jesse is in his corner. Jesse is getting to the point where he wonders if he can beat Cody. Will he betray the trust? He has Cody's idol because of the Knowledge is Power advantage a few weeks back. Ohhh ... he goes to Owen about taking out Cody. Oh my. Owen tells Cassidy. Uh-oh. Jesse has to give the idol back to Cody so Cody can prove he has it. He needs to get it back from Cody. That blows Jesse's plan.

Tribal Council time. Cody looks very smug. Karla says she still doesn't feel well -- her body broke down during the immunity challenge. Jesse says Karla and Cody will be playing their idols tonight. Jeff wonders if it's a bluff. Gabler thinks he will be lasting until tomorrow. Jesse doesn't seem as sure. Owen isn't all that sure. Cody is still smug.

Time to vote. Karla votes Owen.

No idols played. Wait. Jesse plays one for Owen.

The tally - Wait. Karla plays hers for herself.

Owen, Karla, Cody, Cody, Cody ... aha! He was too smug! Jesse betrayed him!

Jeff tells them they will be heading to a new beach tonight. Next week is the season finale.

The Amazing Race 34: 'How Am I Going to Survive This?' Episode Blog Party - Nov. 30

I will be live blogging the major events as the show airs here on the East Coast. Refresh the page to get the latest news. As always, the real party is in the comments area -- I hope to see you there!

We're into the final four this week. Although the TV listing isn't saying it as such, I think tonight's episode is the penultimate one for the season. Tonight, the four should be knocked down to three and we know it's three teams going to the finale. The episode for December 7 is entitled 'The Only Leg That Matters.' I say finale even though it's just an hour and isn't labeled as such!

The Wonderful Lifeguard SueGee has updated the blog pool listing. Here's where we stand:

Aubrey & David -- Donna in FL, Dr Celine, Skyriverblue
Derek & Claire -- Beachbound Gmom, ChicMc, Donna NY
Emily & Molly -- Joanne Victoria, Judi Sweeney, Sharon N
Luis & Michelle -- Andi, Mikes Girl, RJMnS

PHILIMINATED
Aastha & Nina
Tim & Rex
Rich & Dom
Linton & Sharik
Abby & Will (Covid)
Glenda & Lumumba
Quinton & Mattie
Marcus & Michael

Race fans ready? Let's GO!

Recap City, here we are. Luis and Michelle win first place, Marcus and Michael get Philiminated. Teams are flying to the Republic of Iceland. We get Expedia exposure as teams get helicopter rides to their clue. It does look stunning!

Ten percent of Iceland is covered in glaciers. Teams must climb a glacier ice wall, one at a time, to retrieve a flag. Aubrey and Luis go first for their teams. Luis is down, so Michelle is going up. Now David is heading up.

Luis/Michelle off to the next clue first but just about even. Now Derek and Molly are climbing. Molly is better at it than Derek. Emily and Claire climbing. Claire down first. Emily and Molly in last place but so close. T

The teams have to drive stick shift vehicles to the next clue. Emily and Molly are still last but not all that far behind. Derek, like Luis before him, is having trouble driving the car. David/Aubrey are just ahead of Luis/Michelle with Derek/Claire in third.

The first two teams turned around and pass Derek/Claire going the other way. The first two thought they drove by the turn off. Molly/Emily in a car and having manual transmission problems. Of course.

Derek/Claire to Roadblock first. Who's feeling Misty-Eyed ... Derek does it. It has diving, rappelling down falls into a cave to get a clue and more involved. David does not swim, and Luis passes by him. Will Molly catch up? Hmm.

Derek and Claire headed to the next clue. Then Luis/Michelle. David makes it through, so the twins are still in last place.

Expedia Experience, they have to memorize volcano names and eruption years while snorkeling a fissure. The order remains but all four teams are quite close. Teams do go with a dive instructor.

It's ice-cold water in Iceland. All four teams are there at the same time although Luis/Michelle and Derek/Claire have a head start. Luis/Michelle have to go back and try again. Derek/Claire are good and move on into first place! They are on the way to the Pit Stop.

Luis/Michelle pass. Aubrey/David do not pass, neither do the twins. David is having extreme problems. The twins pass while he's still struggling. Now Aubrey/David are wrong again. They give up and take the two-hour penalty.

Pit Stop Order

1. Claire/David - also win Expedia trip to London.
2. Luis/Michelle
3. Molly/Emily
4. Aubrey/David - Philiminated

Finale next week!

Survivor 43: Episode 11 Blog Party - November 30

The Amazing Race is on at 9PM EDT, a separate post for that show will magically appear a few minutes before the end of this show.

Some weirdness to mention -- last year we had no Ponderosa videos with the jury members in sequester after they were voted out. There are none on the website for this season. But if you do a YouTube search for "Survivor 43 After the Snuff" -- there are videos obviously filmed with a cell phone posted. Hmm.

The Esteemed Lifeguard SueGee has updated the blog pool -- check it out to find your castaway!

Noelle

Survivor fans ready?

We open with the castaways returning from Tribal Council. I still feel bad that Noelle is out but I totally understand it. I think she more than proved her point that her disability doesn't stop her. Sami was shocked at Noelle being voted out. He thinks he and Owen were left out of the vote. Sami admits to the others he wrote down Karla's name.

Gabler tries to make good with Owen so they can work together. Owen feels the others are all out to get him. Sami is still mad that he was left out of the vote for the first time. We get it teary sentimental bit about Sami, his mother and his little brother. Aw. Head up, shoulders back and make the best of it.

Karla and Sami talk. Apparently, he didn't burn that bridge. He lies to Karla and tells her that the first one to mention her name was Cassidy. So, Karla is freaking because she told Cassidy about her idol and she thought they were allies.

They see boat mail coming. It's handed to Karla. "Seven days left Any advantage is an advantage worth having. There's one hidden in your jungle. GO." They all run off looking for it. I may be mistaken but they keep going all around it. Yep, that's it. Hanging on a tree. Ah, Cody notices it and sneak pockets it.

It is an advantage -- he can bet on a player to win the next Immunity Challenge, if they win, he wins. He's given a heads-up about what the challenge it -- the almost drowning one we've seen before.

Immunity Challenge time. Test your ability to remain calm when all seems to be not calm. They are under a grate which gets lower as the tide rises, trying to breathe in the ocean. Cody gives Jeff his advantage. Jeff tells them about it but says he won't say who he chose until Tribal.

Gabler out first. Sami out. Jesse out. They are now at an hour. CODY is out -- he was sure he would win! 90 minutes. Almost two hours. Cassidy is out. She lasted two hours. Karla and Owen the only ones left. Two hours 45 minutes. Now the tide is dropping.

Jeff tells them since they beat the tide, BOTH will win Immunity because they outlasted the challenge! This has never happened before. For some reason, I don't think Cody chose either of them. Sami thinks Cody will also be safe and he will need to play his Shot in the Dark at Tribal tonight.

Sure, they're all hugging back at camp. Cassidy is upset with herself. Owen talks to her. Like Sami, she feels that three will be safe and she's vulnerable. They two talk about Sami going tonight. Karla agrees. She is worried that Cassidy knows about her idol ... and tells Sami they need to vote out Cassidy. Hmm. Sami is a bit suspicious. Now more are mentioning Cassidy's name.

Jesse is leery. He thinks it might be time to take out Sami. He talks to Own who is a bit suspicious about him. Jesse tells Cody about only Karla voting Cass with the rest of them voting Sami.

Tribal Council time. Jeff has to talk about Karla and Owen outlasting the high tide. Gabler says there was chaos back at camp. Karla says they're all polite. Owen brings up that he was left out of the voting plans last week. Sami thinks he's at the bottom. Cassidy talks about strengths, weaknesses and trust. Sami mentions they haven't seen an idol played. He tells them he's going to play his Shot in the Dark tonight. Karla says it's unfortunate that people trust him, and he is willing to throw his vote away.

Time to vote. Samu does pull the die out of his pocket.

Cody voted on OWEN to win, so he is safe.

The tally -- wait, Sami's Shot in the Dark -- he's NOT SAFE.

Now the tally -- Sami, Sami, Sami, Sami ... he's out! He's good about it. We do have to remember he's a kid. He just graduated from high school before the filming of the season.

Race fans ready? Let's GO!

We start off with a recap. Derek and Claire leave first, driving to Ronda in Spain, to Puenta Nuevo (an ancient bridge). The teams are leaving in order of their halfway status.

Oh, geez ... back to Emily/Molly and Marcus/Michael at the fish from last week. The twins finish first, then the guys.

Derek/Claire took a wrong turn giving Luis/Michelle a first to the Detour clue. Bend Over Backwards build an arch or Dress for Success -- studying dancers and accessorizing them. Aubrey/David team with Derek/Claire again. Now they are at the Detour clue. All three teams choose the dancers. Luis/Michelle keep getting the accessories wrong -- wrong shawl.

Luis figures it out. They are the first to finish and get their clue.

Emily/Molly have the Detour clue. Aubrey/David make it through first shot on the dancer, tell Derek/Claire what they did wrong.

Roadblock - High wire and get the first flag they saw on the race. Or leg. Hmm. Michelle does it. And, she did it! Got the right flag. They have to head between Ernest and Orsen where the Pit Stop is waiting.

The brothers are the only team choosing Bend Over Backwards at the Detour. Uh-oh ... Emily/Molly are lost! Derek/Claire finish the Detour. The twins get to the Detour and the brothers get to their Detour choice.

Teams are being misled by the Roadblock clue -- Who's Been Paying Attention because of the flag. But it's the highwire! Both Claire and Aubrey are doing it and both are really frightened by heights. Claire breaks down after she finishes.

The last two teams are heading to the Roadblock. The twins get there first. Ack. She may be picking the wrong flag. Nope, got it right! They are heading to the Pit Stop. Now the guys finished the Roadblock.

Pit Stop Order:
1. Luis/Michelle - won Expedia trip to Tokyo
2. Aubrey/David
3. Derek/Claire
4. Emily/Molly
5. Marcus/Michael -- Philiminated

Survivor fans ready?

We start with them coming back from the Tribals. Karla voted with the crowd only because Sami told her the plan. She feels left out and is worried. Cassidy is thrilled James went home. Jesse feels comfortable and has two idols. He thinks Sami is overplaying. He feels great about where he's at. Huh. Over-confidence has sent many a castaway packing.

We start with a Reward Challenge. They spin themselves dizzy to draw a sandbag towards them, obstacle course, balance beam, throw sandbag atop a small platform on a pole. Reward is a feast and an overnight at Sanctuary ... and even beer.

Cassidy then Karla are the first ones through to throw their sandbags. All are now throwing sandbags. NOELLE wins after having real troubles with her leg and the obstacle course! Her leg had fallen off at the end -- the suction let go.

She also gets letters from home as well as whoever goes with her. She can choose on other -- Sami. One more -- Jesse. One more -- Owen. Ah, the letters are from several people -- Owen got ones from his mother, father and girlfriend. Lots of tears. Jesse is crying reading the letter from his wife.

Hmm ... someone should be keeping an eye out for an idol. Sami says he would like Cassidy out. Owen suggests splitting the vote between Cassidy and Karla in case Karla has an idol.

Back at camp, Cody is definitely leery about what's going on with the Reward people. They talk about Sami, Noelle and Owen. Cody thinks Owen is the new Dwight. Cassidy wants to get Gabler to get on board with her. Cassidy and Karla want him to work with them. He feels others at Reward also are on his side.

Immunity Challenge time. One hand steady a balancing board, other hand builds house of cards. First house to reach a red arrow marker wins. The cards are not playing cards. They sound ceramic. They're all falling all the time.

CASSIDY WINS IMMUNITY!

Day 19 and the ocean looks great! Noelle tells us they need to come up with a new backup. Noelle feels she can't trust Sami. She's thinking they can probably still vote out Karla. Jesse emotionally wants to keep Noelle but thinks she is the strongest competitor. He talks to Cody.

Jesse has a plan and is using cover stories. He wants Noelle to go and talks to Sami to make him a fall guy for targeting Noelle. He tells Noelle that the vote will split between Karla and Sami. He tells Karla the vote will split between Noelle and Sami. Then he talks to Gabler about blindsiding Noelle. Gabler wants to think on it. Okay, Gabler tells him he will vote Noelle tonight.

Gabler goes to Karla and tells her that Jesse and Cody are running the show. Hmm.

Tribal Council time. Time for Jeff's Probsting questions. He brings up the Reward Challenge and Noelle's amazing efforts. She says she hopes to be an example. Jesse is questioned about his time at Sanctuary. Gabler gets to compare what's happening compared to surgery. Now they're comparing each other to assassins.

They vote. Owen votes Karla, Jesse votes Noelle. That's all we see.

The tally -- Karla, Noelle, Sami, Karla, Noelle, Noelle, Noelle.

I hate to see Noelle go but I actually do think that no one would win against her at the end. It was a smart decision.

The Amazing Race 34: 'Vamos a la Playa' Episode Blog Party - November 16

My apologies for the non-blog last week. I'm actually still in the same predicament. The television I ordered mysteriously got lost in transit and its replacement hasn't arrived. I was thinking I could stream tonight's TV shows on my old tablet, but no go. It's too old for streaming, I guess. So, I'm doing this split-screen on my desktop computer tonight. Please bear with me!

I will be live blogging the major events as the show airs here on the East Coast. Refresh the page to get the latest news! As always, the real party is in the comments area -- I hope to see you there!

The Wonderful Lifeguard SueGee updated the blog pool for us. Are you still in it to win it? Last week Derek and Claire came in first place!

Aubrey & David -- Donna in FL, Dr Celine, Skyriverblue
Derek & Claire -- Beachbound Gmom, ChicMc, Donna NY
Emily & Molly -- Joanne Victoria, Judi Sweeney, Sharon N
Luis & Michelle -- Andi, Mikes Girl, RJMnSC
Marcus & Michael -- Brenda, Chrob61, Nickelpeed

PHILIMINATED

Quinton & Mattie

Race fans ready? Let's GO!

We start off with a recap and Quinton/Maddie getting Philiminated. All teams are headed to Spain. It's another mega-leg with two Roadblocks and two Detours.

Claire thinks they don't want to get lost or burn out. Aubrey and David are starting off with them.

Roadblock - Who will master the pieces? Recreate a Picasso masterpiece puzzle style. They are at the birthplace of Picasso. The second group is off and running. Emily is having a real problem with her sore knee. That's a shame -- they have been a great team! Uh-oh, she chooses to do the Roadblock not realizing how physical it is because the pieces are so heavy.

CLAIRE finishes first and Derek shouts that he loves her. They are off to a port to get the next clue. They get bikes to go. Derek talks about all the things he's crashed. Eep! Aubrey finishes next. Then Michelle.

Detour - Fish Fry -- speared fish over an open flame in a boat. Teams must do a certain amount.  Sailboat Supply - deliver a large ice filled cooler to a yacht via paddleboard. Derek/Claire go for fish fry. Emily finishes up the Picasso so it's only Marcus/Michael left.

Marcus/Michael finally out of Picasso. Emily/Molly got a bit lost. Derek/Claire help out Aubrey/David at the fish with Derek saving them from the fatal flaw of not salting it. Claire says they will help them until they can't anymore. Derek/Claire through first heading to the MegaLeg. Michelle/Luis finish up the paddleboard. Aubrey/David finish the fish.

The fish have just Emily/Molly and Marcus/Michael left competing.

The show ends at that point with a TO BE CONTINUED.

Survivor fans ready?

We open with them returning from Tribal. Sami wants to shake the game up and pick off the people at the top. He talks to Owen. Owen is upset with James as he told him they were sticking with the Ryan vote. Gabler is the one who told him otherwise. After all, James is not the Godfather, dude.

James is trying to work others against Owen. He does seem to think he's the Godfather after all.

We're right into the Immunity Challenge. Two teams of five, separate Tribal Councils. The last person standing wins reward -- PB&J for their team and they get to go to Tribal second. Two going home tonight. Red/blue.

They have to lift up a handle to keep a ball above them trapped. Ball comes down, so do they. Jesse out first for red. Cassidy out for red. Noelle out for blue. James out for blue. Gabler out for red. Owen out for blue. Sami out for blue.

KARLA wins Immunity for Blue! She did it with a stitched-up finger even.

Karla out, so Red will win the reward. It's Ryan and Cody up still for Red. Ryan out.

CODY wins Immunity for Red as well as the Reward!

Blue goes back to the beach where they decide who will go home. Red goes back to camp to enjoy the PB&J.

At camp Ryan tells Gabler it's Cass tonight. They talk to Cody. Cody tells Cassidy that it's Ryan being voted out.

At the Vesi camp, Karla wants to vote out Owen with her ally James. Noelle talks to Sami about the Owen vote, too. I personally wouldn't mind if James went -- his voice always sounds like he has marbles in the back of his throat! Owen tries to confront James in front of the rest of the team because James is putting on a rather big jerk act. I don't know. If they keep focusing on Owen going in the edit, he just might not.

Day 17. The Red vote still seems to be between Ryan and Cassidy. Cody and Jesse are trying to figure out what ties the two have with others. They know James would want Ryan out. Cody likes Gabler, so wants to recruit him into his way of thinking. Gabler is finally finding a home! They figure Owen or Cassidy will go from Blue.

Noelle would prefer James go. She wants to make a big move. She is thinking of using her Steal a Vote advantage. Sami, Noelle and Owen want to vote out James. Woot! Uh-oh ... Sami is allied with Karla and gives her the idea they should vote James out.

Night 17 and Blue settles in at Tribal. Jeff recaps. They had no rice, etc. James says there was frustration at the beach. Sami talks about James and Owen having a heated discussion. Yes, there was yelling.

Noelle uses her advantage Steal a Vote. She steals Owen's vote. She gets two votes.

The tally -- Owen, James, James, James ... three is enough. Bye, James! He is sarcastic and tells them "see how far you get now."

The Red Team comes into Tribal. They see that James is on the jury with Jeanine. Jesse seems a bit shocked -- he knows James had the Knowledge is Power advantage. To their own questions, Cassidy loved the PB&J but the evil eviction is back. Ryan says the voting in a small group is a lot scarier.

Time to vote. Ryan votes Cassidy. Cassidy votes Ryan. And, that's all we see.

The tally -- Cassidy, Ryan, Ryan, Ryan ... there goes my pool pick. He tells them they will go hungry now. Unlike James, he really did keep them in food with his fishing.

Live-Blogging Television Update

Okay, my latest television (or lack thereof) update. The power cable fix was not a fix. I will be returning that to Amazon. I looked at all kinds of websites -- Target, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. -- and ended up re-ordering the same television as the one that got lost in transit from Amazon. Only Walmart was selling the same television.

While I could have it delivered much sooner from Walmart, they want $90 more for it. So, back to Amazon. I made sure to select that the option to put the TV box in a regular Amazon box for shipping. Hopefully, that will make disappearing in transit less likely.

I saw others, cheaper even, but not quite what I wanted. I like the one I like because it's an Android television which comes with a voice remote, Google Assistant built-in, Chromecast built in. I can cast movies and shows on the TV from my Samsung phone or even my tablet if I get that up to snuff and I can load all my streaming kind of stuff, even my Xfinity cable site where I can stream live television and a plethora of back episodes on them, thus to the television. I would be able to hook up my computer to the television with HDMI, but cable placement would be awkward. Oh, and of course, it's Wi-Fi. Plus, it has the tuner in it that if I decide to cut the cable TV cord, I could get over the air channels on an antenna.

While they say you could control your home's smart technology over the television itself, that's not a selling point for me. I guess I live in a dumb apartment. My only "smart" tech I own is my smartphone.

Since the delivery date is Friday, I once again won't have it on Wednesday for live blogging 'Survivor' and 'The Amazing Race.' I can't watch it from my larger TV in the other room because it's not in my sight view. I can't stream it on my desktop computer and blog at the same time -- I suppose I could figure out some sort of split screen or picture in a smaller window, but no. My phone is too small to really work out with blogging at the same time. My fix this week will be finding the charger for my tablet, then putting either Xfinity site or my Paramount + on it and setting that up nearby. It's not a huge tablet, but better than the phone.

On a sidenote: The tablet, like the now dead television, was a freebie work anniversary gift out of a catalogue. I think it was my 2016 gift. I didn't have Wi-Fi at the time, so it was basically unused. It was in a package with Bluetooth headphones, a charging pack and a few other things. I kind of miss getting cool free stuff every five years!

So, that's where I stand (or sit) with my television Tales of Tragedy.

Survivor 43: Episode 8 Blog Non-Party PLUS The Amazing Race 34 Non-Party - November 9

Folks, my apologies. I'm having technical difficulties with a dead television and a new one somehow delayed in transit (or stolen). I blog on my desktop computer with the now-dead TV nearby. I experimented with streaming on my phone and I just can't put it anywhere where I can see it clearly and it's not in the way of my keyboard.

So, I will be passing on blogging both shows tonight. All should be resolved by next week. Feel free to party in the comments, though.
